[Q] OP 7 Pro | OP 7T Pro - Unified custom ROMs - OnePlus 7T Pro (Regular & McLaren) Q & A

Is there likely to be cross-compatible custom ROMs/ development for the OP 7 Pro & the 7T Pro?

I think the kernel sources are unified in OOS, so maybe.
I'm not sure though, would love to see this.

OP7 Pro seems to have good custom ROM/ dev support - it would be good to see this ported across to the OP7T Pro if at all possible, as well as some fresh custom ROMs for the newer device.

Is the OnePlus 7T Pro considered to be a 'guacamole' device?

Title, basically. Is it safe to use TWRP, or install LineageOS or /e/ builds based on guacamole onto the 7T Pro? Or is this phone too unique to use them? I tried looking at the upstream code here but I couldn't tell if the 7T Pro was simply not yet included, or was left out because it's not compatible. Sorry if this has an obvious answer, I am quite a noob when it comes to Android and rooting.
No 7T Pro has Android 10 out of the box and the boot and recovery partitions are different from guacamole . It is similar to 7T . No TWRP is available for 7T or 7T pro , We have to wait for more development work as these devices are one of the first to get Android 10 out of the box.
Thanks! This leads me to a follow up question. Does 'guacamole' refer to a specific combination of Android build and hardware? For example the OnePlus 7 and Android 9?

[Need help] How to port rom from 7 Pro to 7T Pro

I know our device doesn't have twrp yet but we can flash GSI images and we can also manually flash them like this and I was wondering, maybe someone here with some experience know what files I need to change, edit and move to beable to port another rom to this device
I was hoping to port Havoc Os 3.0 from the OnePlus 7 Pro to this device!
I suppose this maybe?

But you use havoc's sources.
As Omni rom does, you probably should use proper kernel sources too
Other than that, no idea honestly

Development of roms kernel and mods for redmi note 9 pro curtana

I am just want to know why the development of custom rom kernel is not going on for our redmi note 9 pro curtana because its about 2 months now and there is no twrp that fully working and there is nothing much custom rom available for redmi note 9 pro why? Xda developers
Lol, same question I posted earlier today on another board.
I wonder, if the Note 9s/Pro isn't really attractive for users?
Or is it more difficult to build custom ROMs with android 10?
Or other reasons?
I think they have a problem with the kernel
Who are trying to fix it
But for twrp, mauronofrio has developed it as a test, which I believe will come in a stable version in the coming days.
I hope that in this post, developers will give us more information
I mean if it is easy develop it yourself. We have functional recovery which can flash roms. What are you gonna do more in recovery?
I started to regret to buy 9s because it has no stable aosp

Currently no. Because there is no working TWRP for K40 Pro.
You can get around flashing without TWRP, but the issue is, it's a whole lot of work to make a kernel on A11 shipped devices with the GTK 1.0 and GTK 2.0 devices, which must launch an Android Common Kernel and store drivers in a separate partition, loaded after the first boot process of the generic implementation. Plus the 888 people don't really want to support (it's kind of a portable oven, throttles like crazy, and just isn't a good example of a Qualcomm product). Sorry to disappoint. I sold my K40 Pro Plus for these reasons. Only OnePlus 9 Pro seems to have custom kernels and ROMs, unfortunately. So I also talked to the dev that built the first custom kernel on that device; he said it took 3 months to inline all the drivers and make them functional (that's what you have to do on the new Google format), and honestly, most devs don't want to spend that kind of time on a kernel (hey, most of us have jobs).

How to use OnePlus 7t (hotdogb) Custom ROM on OnePlus 7TPro (hotdog)

I want to try EvoX on my 7t pro. Just wondering how hard it is to port the 7T version over, if it's even possible? Just assumed it's possible because there are kernels that work on both, and TWRP works on both unified
