Bro just extract the archive, boot twrp, choose install image and choose system partition. After flashing completeboot again into twrp do a factory reset then flash Gapps and you are good to go.
Tried the ROM and found No VoLte and rounded corners are too rounded

Hi, I followed the steps and It booted successfully, everything worked fine but without gapps. I can't install gapps due to an error; "insufficient storage in system partition"
Although the system partition were much larger before installing this image, on miui 10, 11 and mokee.
Any solution?
*EDIT*
If I flash custom magisk boot image, it bootloops. I tried with su, binary needs to be updated but still doesn't work. So no root available in this ROM. Which means no heavy modifications such as xposed

One more thing, recents menu is sometimes laggy, and sometimes doesn't respond. I tried deactivating pixel launcher but its still the same.

Which one would you recommend? Mokee or is it?

Which one would you recommend? Mokee or is it? The difference in performance with respect to MIUI 11 is observed

Well, mokee is official and its nightly so I can't yet judge it but although havoc is unofficial, but it runs perfectly smooth and I'm still testing it and no bugs so far. Everything runs smooth even in games, screen and media. Also camera with gcam mod. So personally I prefer havoc os, too much useful modifications and android 10 has smooth animations. But has no root access. Mokee has built in root but system RO. I tried to make it RW but couldn't. So it's kinda uselees

After testing both, lineage has few features compared to havoc. So havoc is my choice. Also lineage had a laggy notification bar from time to time, only way to fix it is to reboot. And that issue that havoc has, the laggy recents; fix it by doing a clean flash *format all except system and internal/SD*
And I'd recommend resizing system partition before flashing gapps. And bitgapps doesn't work, use any arm android 10 gapps instead

I tried the rom, everything is woking fine but the battery life is worse than android 9

How to get volte in custom gsi?

can i install it using the following commands :
fastboot erase system
fastboot -u flash system img.img ?

This ROM now implements OMS.
What is OMS ?
OMS: (Overlay Manager Service) was designed by google. It's a layer/theme service which is used by Substratum: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.substratum&hl=fr
So basically, if you install Substratum, you will be able to apply any theme on the ROM UI because OMS has been implemented.
For the record, on PAC MM or AOKP MM, they were using CyanogenMod Theme Engine for theming the UI, but since CMTE has not been implemented for Nougat, many choose to use OMS & Substratum instead.
Good job. BTW, where the list of what is working and not?

Hello, thanks for the ROM
Issues that I have found
Auto brightness is changing itself for no aparent reason.
Bluetooth is not working (I will test a modification to build.prop to see if it fixes that)
Video recording( I will do more tests too)
The weird noise at boot(every custom ROM have it on l36)
Thats all for now.
After my tests I will update this post.
Oki doki I'm back
These chances to build.prop seens fo fixes some problen
# Bluetooth
qcom.bluetooth.soc=smd
This fixes bluetooth on cm14.1 and aokp
But this onde, it fixes video recording on cm14.1 without problens but Idk why it dindt worked on aokp
#Fix for l36 variant 1080p recording issue, special thanks to marchetto96
camera.disable_zsl_mode=1
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=0
persist.camera.cpp.duplication=false
My device is a A6020l36
These changes on the build.prop where recomended by the k5 brazil(A6020l36) dev group, it may not work on other variants(only testing to know).
soon going to test it.
thanks for rom buddy any guess it will work for A6020a46 3GB variant too? or i have to test and check my self.
Making a backup right now of my PAC rom, to try AOKP.
So many ROM options Thanks for your hard work. I'll apply @BlueReptile post fixes and try if there is any left.
For Brazilians users "ro.product.model=A6020l36" should be enough to solve 1080p video play.
Anybody test if charging screen works? Or it has the same bug that cm has?
I'm facing a bootloop during the Setup Wizard: After a full wipe, i get the loop error "Configuration Wizard has failed - X Close app", and i can't proceed to boot up AOKP and finish it's setup.
Code:
[[email protected] AOKP]$ ls -l
-rw-r--r-- 1 risthel users 499274693 nov 10 17:55 aokp_A6020_nougat_unofficial_2016-11-10_1622.zip
-rw-r--r-- 1 risthel users 82 nov 15 15:05 aokp_A6020_nougat_unofficial_2016-11-10_1622.zip.md5sum
-rw-r--r-- 1 risthel users 117639063 nov 11 04:47 open_gapps-arm64-7.1-pico-20161111.zip
-rw-r--r-- 1 risthel users 73 nov 15 19:06 open_gapps-arm64-7.1-pico-20161111.zip.md5
The ROMs and gapps are sane(recovery matched the md5).
Also tried to reboot, clear Dalvik/Art and boot again without success

You should try without Gapps with a system wipe to check if it's not because a Gapps issue.

Hi @Shreps. Sorry for the double posting/flooding.
Did my homework, AOKP flashed fine. Meanwhile, i was researching and found that opengapps can have this issue as explained here
Since i'm not dirty flashing neither upgrading this was my workaround for this situation:
Installed AOKP
Booted without gapps
Created this script file(i'm using Arch Linux as main desktop) and push it using adb while running AOKP
adb shell to run this script
reboot into recovery
clear dalvik/cache
push opengapps to /sdcard and flash it
reboot to system
profit?!
System wizard working as expected. Can't say for sure if the problem is with gapps-pico on 11 november build, cause the script seems to solve the permission issues.
gonna test today downloading now,
but here are something all the user of A6020a46 3GB variants may know that, bluetooth is fixed after apply this to build.prop
Code:
qcom.bluetooth.soc=smd
red border already fixed also brightness is fixed temporary through brightness pacher, now major thing is Video Recording which not work for me in any 7.1 based ROM(CM14.1, AICP,BeanStalk,crDroid and i guess same for AOKP) so if you guys fixed any new or old bugs please reply soon to related thread about it so many can solve their problems.

yeah tried not working for me, i guess as because i have different variant then yours, mine is 3GB Variant with FHD and Spandragon 616 , i guess you have A6020a40 with 2 GB RAM and snapdragon 415 ,while i have A6020a46 :'( any way thanks for info

OK. Had to change my daily ROM to CM-14.1.
AOKP crashed hard after upgrading(build day 11 to build day 15), and the fix_permissions script didn't solve this time. Google related apps kept crashing even after a cache/dalvik wipe... Could be something mainstream of AOKP. I'll search for info on it's repos.
Spent last night trying CM14, AICP and BeanStalk. Clear flashed all of them, and the only one that didn't accepted gapps without fixing permissions was aokp unfortunately. Last thing i did was to upgrade aokp with gapps installed, and it reproduced the same problem.
Thanks again for your hard work guys. I'll keep testing all your roms

you have to flash AOKP then reboot your device once its rebooted to normal mode tick advance reboot on from developer settings >then reboot recovery again and flash gapps pico version, then its fine.

Project Treble
The most common complaint about Android updates is that they are notoriously slow to release, historically speaking. Worse still, handset support is promptly re-evaluated once new models come along. Consumers have been complaining about this problem to OEMs and Google for years. Fortunately, the situation is changing following the arrival of Project Treble. Project Treble was introduced as part of Android 8.0 Oreo and represents a major re-architecture for the OS framework. The initiative’s ultimate aim is to make updates faster and easier for OEMs to roll out to devices. Treble is arguably one of the biggest changes introduced to Android, but one that consumers won’t even notice as it works primarily behind the scenes. Here’s how it will affect the future of Android.
Project Treble on Redmi 3
Redmi 3 was launched in 2016 with Qualcomm MSM8939v2 Snapdragon 616 SoC. Though we are late to the treble party but we finally got treble support thanks to developers
Treble ROM
XDA member @WinKarbik & @ariafan built RR & crDroid treble & everything works mostly. Here I'll talk about crDroid-8.1-20180813 treble
ROM NAME: crDroid Android
Build date: 2018/08/13
ROM OS Version: 8.x Oreo
ROM Kernel: Linux 3.10.x
ROM Firmware Required: Unlocked bootloader, TWRP Treble
Based On: LineageOS
What works
Mostly Everything
What doesn't work
Camera can not save pic in full res. Use Cameringo for now
Links
Rom: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Pm0-GJU3rZSP7-E8C5K24ZTnP7gFxRQ7/view?usp=sharing
Gapps: https://opengapps.org/
TWRP Treble: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-3/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-0-treble-t3830610
How to flash
- Reboot into TWRP
- Take backup of previous ROM in case you want to roll back
- Wipe system, data, cache, delvik, vendor
- Flash ROM & gapps
Flashing GSI
To flash GSI you'll need
- Vendor & boot from any treble ROM. In this case i'll be using crDroid-8.1-20180813 treble vendor & boot. Link here: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262903982506
- GSI of your liking. List here : https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Generic-System-Image-(GSI)-list
- Gapps (if needed). Link: https://opengapps.org/
- TWRP that supports treble. Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-3/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-0-treble-t3830610
How to flash
- Reboot into TWRP
- Take backup of previous ROM in case you want to roll back
- Wipe system, data, cache, delvik, vendor
- Flash treble-vendor-kernel-ido.zip (AFH link given)
- Flash GSI image as system partition
- Sometimes GSI includes gapps. If it does select reboot system & ignore NO OS Installed message
- If you want to flash gapps & magisk reboot into TWRP again after flashing GSI. Flash gapps & magisk & reboot into system
What works
Mostly Everything
What doesn't work
As original vendor & kernel has camera issue. GSI ROMs will have the same problem.

Hello friend you managed to put Android 9 foot on redmi 3 pro ?
This is brilliant news! I think I'm going to take back my Redmi 3 and start using it again . Unfortunately it is used by a family member now.
I have been trying to find a good article about how to make these unofficial treble projects, but I couldn't really, so I'm not 100% sure what is needed. By checking the first post, I guess it needs a modified kernel and the content of the vendor partition, which contains some kind of binaries for the HAL.
What is the source of these files? Have they been taken from an official Xiaomi ROM (MIUI)? Or are they based on the released (and as far as I know incomplete and buggy) kernel sources which have been sort of fixed by Anik and other members?
I used Anik's LOS 14.1 and 15.1 as well on Redmi 3, but unfortunately they suffered from some random slowdowns and lags for me. I didn't notice this on the official ROMs. So I'm worried that this project would have the same issues if they are based on the same source.

i've tried both of official 14 & unofficial 15 (anik) los. the official lagged much, unofficial had problem with hidden ssid so i didn't get into testing. i'm currently using unofficial rr 20180730 winkarbik. as to this treble said based on los, i don't see any that solves your worry in addition to try to test for yourself.

Android Ice Cold ProjectUnoffical Note 9 by OpenSauce9810
What is this?
This is the Android Ice Cold Project compiled for the Exynos Note 9. This is my daily driver as it's probably the smoothest oreo AOSP rom so far. I recommend enabling the android P animations in the settings.,
What's working?
Mostly everything, including dual speaker, home button, MTP.
What's not working?
Powering off - if you power off your phone completely the rom won't boot. You need to go to trwp and reboot to system to get back in. (I think)
Padding on status bar may be a bit close to the edges.
Let me know of any other issues.
Instructions:
Make sure TWRP has been installed and functional.
Download the latest build linked below
Reboot to recovery
Wipe data and cache (required if you switch from other ROMs). Even better if you have nothing to loose and wipe system, data, cache, storage etc
Flash the latest build (and gapps). GAPPS ARE NOT INCLUDED use opengapps 8.1.
Reboot and enjoy
Changelog:
25.10.2018 Initial Release
26.10.2018: Status bar padding fixed. Latest sources synced. General smoothness / performance improved (butter smooth now).
29.10.2018: High Touch Sensitivity Added, Adaptive Backlight Improvements, Sunlight Enhancement, Vibrator HW Improvement, Display Mode Control added to Display Settings.
08.11.2018: Synced to latest sources, S-Pen "rotation aware" fixed. Fixed an issue that was causing the phone to reboot 4 times before starting the ROM when flashing. (Unfortunately I forgot to fix the status bar padding so this is close to the edges again, will patch ASAP)
09.11.2018: Tweaked some default settings to improve experience, custom winter edition wallpaper, new boot logo. Status Bar padding won't seem to fix and idk why now. But it's not too bad on the note 9 anyway.

If you know a way to add this into AOSP Based ROMs I'll be happy to do so. But unfortunately I wouldn't know where to start I'm afraid. ?*
I asked you because it is the same as with crDroid. It is there. At least when you do a search in settings. But if you click on it it's not where it should be. see screenshot.
Btw very nice ROM. Thank you.

Hi, is the "gesture" option in the Navigation settings something like the Android pie gesture? Or it's something else?

Excellent, everything working but i noticed an anomaly in battery consumption, more than 4%/h due to wakelock coming from "com.android.nfc", after deleting "/system/app/NfcNci" folder the problem was solved

No. I came from stock Oreo 8.1. I am afraid that I could hard brick my device once again if I downgrade to Nougat. Recently I flashed on older version of bootloader on the Nougat rom and the result was a hard brick.

I am back on Stock 8.1. I was facing severe battery drain issue, slow charging and random network drops when using mobile data on Jio sim card. I have been a long time user of crDroid (nougat based) but never faced any such issues then.

will it get updated soon? I can't use some apps because they won't pass splash screen, I may wait if it will have an update, or I would rollback to 9.0 if not :/
I've figured out another bug: When switching back from battery saver mode, it's stills on battery saver mode (but on UI it's not)

Search for 'mi 5x black screen tz.img' it was a common issue with different versions of FW and ROMs. Probably the best way is to update whole phone to latest stock first(what i eventually did). All on your own risk btw.
