HMS 4.0 OS on Mate 30 Pro - Huawei Developers

Huawei is working on developing HMS 4.0 OS.
According to these Huwaei Mobile Services, could I have some type of certification in my Mate 30 Pro 5G to be able to install GPay or my bank's app and make payments with the phone via NFC?

If you install GMS you will be able to install all apps you need including bank's app. i tried most of bank's apps and working fine.
However, making payments with the phone via NFC is not possible now through Gpay as your device is not google certified.
Regarding Huawei HMS 4.0 OS, I have no idea ...
I hope i am able to answer your certification being Mate 30 Pro 5G user.

It should be possible ig

Huawei Just need to believe in their products and make them available all over. We don't mind buying good gadgets as long as they have good specs. We can sideload apps. Price is all that matters

No. HMS will have some alternative apps with similar functionality.

Just found out that in Germany they have come up with an app called 'appsearch'. It allows you to install FB, Twitter and other popular apps.

Installed it the other day but the number of Apps are limited. Only the more popular ones are there. The search function does not work when I tried it. It is supposed to search for apps in sites such as apkmirror. Maybe it works in other regions.

Huawei is the best phone

Hi Freeje,
We were talking about gms specific apps(for example Google Maps or Youtube). FB, Twitter, etc. are not such apps.

Yes, they're there too. Don't know if you can simply install them.

AppTwin for other apps

Hi,
I just got a Mediapad M5.
In Thailand, AppTwin allows only LINE app.
I heard that outside China, Huawei enable Facebook and WhatApp, while in China, Vchat something.
I do not understand what the problem Huawei face in enabling/disabling certain apps.
Why cannot Huawei let the user choose one or two apps in AppTwin by himself/herself?
Is there a way to work around this limitation?
I searched and found one guide but it does not work any more with new firmware (by using adb command).
The way that Huawei choose to enble certain apps in certain regions means that the app can be chosen and changed.
Could someone please give me a guide how to?
Thank you.

I find that Huawei's own AppTwin is very limited, it will not even clone FBM Lite.
I tried to install Parallel Space and it does not work with my M5 (some people seem to work).
I tried App Cloner instead and it works.
So my suggestion is if you have no luck with Huawei AppTwin, try another app instead.

Global firmware

Currently in China and considering buying the China variant of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
Can't seem to find any international / global ROM I could flash after getting it [in order to fix the voice assistent / other 'hi' apps which remain in Chinese after changing lanaguage].
Anyone have any insight on this / know where I could get a global ROM?
Also as a side question:
Went into store and tried to install google play on the Chinese variant. Installed, but crashes upon trying to open it. Turns out GSM not installed by default. Is it possible to install GSM without root access, as my company doesn't permit rooted phones.
Cheers!
I asked FunkyHuawei about rebranding the phone, this was their reply;
"Sorry to say that rebranding the Mate 20 series is impossible.
It’s likely it will never be possible."

They might suffer reduced business opportunity moving forward, hey?
I bought it from mainland China and can install the google play store without issues in the UK.
I think In China you need VPN to install Play Store or other google service.

I am waiting mine too. Do you see chines ads here and there? Also, how did you install google Playstore? Thanks
I made an account just to rant about the Chinese branded version. I managed to get Google Play Store, Google Account Manager and Google Services Framework installed (the latter two had to be sideloaded from APKMirror) and from there was able to get most of my Google apps working at a baseline level. That's pretty much where the good news ended though. Here are problems I have had since then. Help or comments with any of this would be appreciated.
You are required to make a Huawei account to use ADB, and EMUI in general begs you to make a Huawei acct. all the time which is pretty irritating
Changing the default launcher, as we know, was disabled. Uninstalling the Huawei launcher through ADB lets you use a different launcher but swipe gestures are broken. Nova also seems to be buggy in general on this phone, so I'm experimenting with different launchers now.
The Huawei App Gallery app store is ripe garbage. You can "uninstall" a variety of preinstalled apps like Huawei Video, but they shortly reinstall themselves.
The "Program Manager" app is also ripe garbage and appears to be breaking a variety of things. It's purpose seems to be to promote security and performance, but it basically just blocks devices from using microphones, wifi etc and spams you with obnoxious notifications. Oh, you also can't revoke any of Program Manager's permissions since it's a system app and doesn't even appear in the permissions list, and changing it's permissions through settings>apps doesn't appear to be allowed.
Android Auto: I can't get voice commands to work. I suspect this has to do with Program Manager thinking its a god, but who even knows.
EMUI in general is unattractive and overbearing. The icons in the status bar are ugly and cannot be rearranged. The settings menus are searchable, but still overly complicated and there are a TON of bundled Huawei apps which act like system apps and try to take control away from the user.
Knowing that root/rebrand will probably never be possible gives me almost zero hope that this phone will ever be usable as my daily driver.
I also have a mild case of green-screen. It's honestly the part that bothers me least right now, but I might use it as justification to return this device to my reseller and maybe try to get the international version.
I feel like I'm using an Apple device in that I don't feel like I have any control/customization power, but unlike Apple, the software barely even works. It is intrusive, disruptive, and breaks ordinary functions of normal apps. So far, 2/10 experience.
The hardware is great though

Even if you have a global ROM, you can't Flash because there's no way to upgrade the Hess 980 chip across regions.

Can't you use faceID for banking authentication?

I was under the impression that on Android pie Google would allow all biometrics as options to login to apps instead of fingerprint only.
Is anyone successful with this?
I'm guessing no as face recognition isn't very secure.
Having said that I use the fingerprint sensor.

This is not the standard face recognition that most android phones use. This is with a dot projector and infrared light like the iPhone X models
I think it requires 3rd party developers to implement. Can't really see this happening as only a few phones have the 3d face scanning built in. I mean I think even Huawei doesn't have any apps that uses this technology i.e vault or secure notes.

I haven't tried my banking app yet but google pay uses it.
It is also just as secure as fingerprint and as secure as iphone.

It was just my understanding that Google implemented it for Pie the same way as for iOS. The apps for ios is just coded for biometric. No need to specify if it should be faceID or an older touchid phone.
So the apps should just ask for biometric authentication and therefor it should use whatever I has active.
The app developer would need to code it for FaceID, both my banking apps have settings within the app to use fingerprint login, there would be a setting required to provide faceID login likewise. The same also applies to my phone carriers usage meter, they have only just modified it for fingerprint login.
Sent from my HUAWEI LYA-L09 using XDA Labs
There is currently no Android standard for face unlock so using it as an identification for banking apps or making payments would be very insecure. Different Android phones currently use different methods to implement face unlock and some of those methods can be bypassed with a photograph.

Android without GMS is a disaster.

I am looking for a solution to run GMS on my Huawei Y7p, if anyone fine a solution please let me know. the lzplay thing is not working anymore.

for the y7p it still working rn
You dont have a solution sadly, it's with HMS. You bought the phone knowingly I'm sure, so here's what you can do:
1. Use Petal Search to download other apps/games that aren't on AppGallery, for example you can download Discord from Petal Search. Petal Search gives the apps from trusted sources like APKPure and APKMirror.
Link: https://appgallery.cloud.huawei.com/app/C100995735
2. Use the web versions of Google apps, for example Youtube in browser. You can also use Snaptube or Vidmate from AppGallery, they both show Youtube videos and you can watch them from there.
Links:
Snaptube: https://appgallery.cloud.huawei.com/app/C100180977
Vidmate: https://appgallery.cloud.huawei.com/app/C100854761
3. You can also check the thread I made on Huawei Community that helped many people that use phones without GMS, Google Alternatives: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/community/details/topicId_48289/
Enjoy! It's not a disaster, you'll get used to it.

The Lighthouse was officially released for use in Malaysia and not the PRC. Some users using harmony os 2.0 or EMUI 12 outside of Asia have had success using the Lighthouse apps from Malaysian app gallery. Xda developers has no means to modify the app to change compatibility with Huawei devices.
You are developer and you say this ? Sorry for my question.
I thought it would be easy to modify the app working outside china.
Go to Settings, Apps, Lighthouse, tap on the gear, device registration, change it to nexus, then try to log in your account

The developer is Skywalker and you can research if you wish to determine if he/she is a membership with xda developers. The Lighthouse app is under the property of Skywalker, fibonas, Huawei app gallery. Xda developers cannot assume responsibility for the app and change it.
