The tablet is working just fine.. I manage to turn on/off screen using the cover/double tapping..
The question is.. what if my tablet powers off ? can I turn it on somehow with the power button ?

Wow, that looks rather unfortunate. So I just did a little bit of experimenting. I am BL unlocked and rooted, but with stock recovery at the moment so I'm not sure if a 100% stock tablet will act any different.
As you likely know, simply inserting the USB/charging cable without holding any buttons will only charge the tablet, not fully boot into Android.
However, If the tablet is completely powered off, you can press and hold the Volume UP button for a short period while inserting the charging/USB cable and the tablet will power up and boot into Android. The catch is this: I'm not exactly sure how long YOU will need to hold the vol+ button. If you keep holding the vol+ button until you get to recovery mode then you are still sort of stuck since you are unable to use the power button as "enter" to select a mode. So you will have to experiment a bit to see just how long you need to hold the vol+ button.
See, I mention this since I am unlocked and rooted, and at boot time I will get a warning screen that gives me some cue as to when to release the vol+ button to boot into Android or to continue holding if I want to get all the way into recovery mode. If I release the vol+ button when I see the red "unlocked tablet" warning text then my tablet boots into Android. But if I continue to hold vol+ then my tablet boots into recovery.
So it will be tricky for you, but you are not totally stuck if your tablet were to power down on you.

it sounds like your trying to install an ruu thats not the correct one for your phone. did you get this from htc? if so you need to know if your phone is for a specific carrier like orange t mobile etc. if its a generic hero you need ruu for that which will be none carrier specific. if your phone isnt responding to anything try holding power button and home to go into recovery mode and select wipe data factory reset hope this helps.

when in this screen try pressing up on volume rocker then a menu should appear. go up and down menu with volume rocker and press power button to select your option. if this doesnt work try power and back button , keep holding back button and press power button once then options appear which should be<vol down> hboot mode and<menu> reset device this is the one you want so just press your menu key.to get out of this menu if you have any difficulty you will have to take battery out thats the only way i know how to get out of this screen without selecting an option that is.
p.s this is for if you press power and back, be carefull not to press volume rocker when it says hboot because another option will appear and if you accidently select option i think it could lock your sim so be carefull and good luck.

Hi
Ive purchased Hero from a guy who said it was rooted. Super Permissions is installed and working, so I skipped the rooting section
When trying to enter in recovery mode by pressing Home + Power, my phone shows a black hero with red exclamation mark inside a triangle, I plug the phone with my PC but nothing happens .... thus I cant select "USB-MS toggle" in recovery mode and move forward to place the Custom ROM on my SD card in the main directory and proceed

you need rom manager app to apply custom recovery so you can flash roms etc but if you want to know how to get options up on recovery screen with red triangle press up on volume rocker
I was following the procedures as mentioned in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10818270#post10818270
Nothing happens when I press volume up or down
try pressing power button or volume and power button it should work
Ok, I got it
I have only 4 options in ths screen, it says:
Android System Restore (2e) (or something like that)
- Reboot
- System wipe
- Apply update.zip
- Wipe Cache
I did, system wipe, which restored all factory settings and then wipe cache
Then I went for Apply update.zip (i named the custom Rom to update.zip earlier), but in vain
It will be very kind of you if you explain where Im getting it wrong
I have clock work now, through the Rom Manager app downloaded from the market
I have flashed 2 roms in succession, Stock Froyo & Cyanogen mod 6.1, but both stuck on the splash screen
try this http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/0...d-phone-with-rom-manager-full-backup-restore/ when you have flashed a rom sometimes it takes a while to boot and can hang at splash screen for ages so give it a chance i have waited five mins or more before rom goes to start up screen
Thanx for the help buddy, my Hero was stuck on Boot Splash for an hour or so
I took out the battery, wiped my device again and flashed Cyanogen's 6.1, it took about 5 minutes in first startup but after that its silky!
Thanx again

Hey, try (WITH THE PHONE PLUGGED IN) turning off the phone until you get to the charging battery screen (you ought to be able to accomplish this by pulling your battery, popping it back in and plugging your vibrant into your computer via the data cable until you see the charging battery icon) From here, press volume up and down, and power all at once (or try volume +, and power)...As soon as the screen turns black, release your power button. With a bit of luck, and the correct key combo, BAM download mode. ^^

Ya I had tried that, unfortunatly it seems all roads lead to the exclamation point. Even pulling the battery, plugging the phone in and holding -, + and -, or just + doesn't even take me to download
If ODIN still recognize the COM port then you can still try flashing. Which ODIN image are you using and did you try it with the PIT file? Try a different Odin image because yours might be corrupt. Also you should try with a different cable.
Here is a link to some Odin images: http://d-h.st/users/Big Dog KMc

If you are getting a "Phone.. ! ..Computer" image (seen above) when booting phone, yes, you are bricked but it is reversible! Just follow these steps...
Make sure you have ODIN OPEN with admin privileges!
1.) Take off your back cover, remove your sim & mirco sd card.
2.) Remove your battery.
Make sure you have the USB plugged into your PC but NOT your phone!
3.) Hold the volume buttons.
4.) Put the battery in.
5.) Put the USB in.
You don't necessarily need the download mode image to be present. As long as you are getting the COM ID to light up yellow in ODIN, just flash back to stock like normal.

[Q] P769 Stock Recovery Mode

Wondering if there is a stock recovery mode for the P769. I know there's a recovery partition but I'm not sure if you can get an HBoot menu. I held down Power and Volume Down from a powered off state, but it simply displayed the LG logo, vibrated, and then powered off. I've also read that there is a button combination to do a Hard Reset. Anyways, I'm wondering if doing this
Code:
adb reboot recovery
would get an HBoot menu, simply turn off, or do a hard reset. Also, if that command gets to HBoot then what button combination can you do to get to it?

I think he means the stock recovery that comes with the phone, as for the button combination, I dunno. holding the down button while powering on the phone always sent me into safe mode.
I can get into recovery mode by holding Vol Up + Home + Power
The screen say that this mode is use in LG service center to backup data. When phone connect to computer it show 2 removable drive but cannot access it. No use for me.
If you want to reboot your phone just hold power button for 10 seconds it'll shutdown. Then you can power on again.
Edit: Shutdown by holding power button 10 seconds not 10 minutes.

After this I just reboot my phone with adb reboot

This does not work, holding volume down + Power get's you to fastboot mode.
No sense just copy and pasting some crap from a completely different handset and just confusing people.

For recovery press VOL+ and POWER button :good:
It's not VOL-
More simple
-choose update app
-three point in right corner
-reboot (recovery)
just press power, select reboot..while its rebooting(white circle progressing) press vol UP (vol+) until you see the MI logo...and wallah, you will be in recovery mode.....
...
Thanks a lot!
Power + Vol up. It's really work for me.

Wrong again!
You posted the same erroneous information on the 27th
Am I reviving a dead thread? Probably.
However, I just thought it would be worth saying that, in my case, pressing POWER + VOL UP (power first, followed by volume up) took me to the recently installed TWRP
I'm trying to ressuscitate my redmi note2 "prime" (whatever that means!...) and i begin to assume that one of the upgrades this "version" got is the recovery 2.01 which either with VOL+ ends in a menu were chinese variants and english are presented to choose and, after that choice shows 4 alternatives:
Reboot (into the old perverse, crippled system!) or i8nstal the update.zip and then produces a banner saying the file is CORRUPTED, so: BACK and then: Reboot or Power OFF and that's it!
Its not a question of volume up or down. It is a sarcastic form to deviate candidates to fly away
to freedom at last: to Cianogenmod! In my case: it is a way to convey the underlying message:
you bricked your rednote2? Fine! Live and learn -- now spare some money and buy another...
But if i am not able to ressuscitate it, instead of buy i'll bye, bye. Said.
HN
There are 2 different topics here;
a. If you want to enter Fastboot (ie to do Flash Update) mode Press Vol Down + Power
b. If you want to enter Recovery mode (ie to do Factory reset) Press Vol Up + Power
I hope this helps

Samsung Stuck on Logo Screen

Hey everyone , I ran into some trouble with my device and I thought this is the only place I could find a solution,
I was trying to root my samsung tab a (2019) (SM-T515) , but something went wrong after flashing twrp ( specially made for tab a ) and ever since my phone is stuck on the main "Samsung galaxy tab A secured by knox" screen with a yellow triangle symbol below it , it isn't being detected by my PC anymore either. This is what I did in steps:
1)Unlock OEM
2)Go in download mode and flash twrp , it said "pass" and I had auto-reboot off , so I rebooted and got stuck here.
I have tried the power button , it doesn't do anything , also the volume up + power key (recovery mode) doesn't do anything either.
Also I tried the volume down + power button , it restarts the phone and puts it back to the same screen after this message ( see attached imgs ).

Would a USB Jig work in this case?
Hold Power + Vol Down for 7 seconds, then immediate switch to Power + Vol Up to enter TWRP. If that doesn't work, attached USB cable, hold Power + Vol Down for 7 seconds, then switch to Vol Up + Vol Down to enter Download Mode. From there you can flash a known-good OEM build with Odin.

It's possible. When I first started developing for this tablet, I gave up and was ready to let the damn battery drain to reset the device. After about a week, I tried again and finally got the timing right. You need to hold for just a little over 7 seconds, enough so that the reset begins and the screen goes blank. When that happens, immediately switch to the Vol Up & Vol Down combo. (Also, don't forget that you have to have the USB cable connected. It won't work without that.)

Heres what I do ,
1. Attach USB
2.Reset it (vol. down + power)
3.This screen opens
4.I immediately hold Vol. Down + Vol. Up
5.After like 2 seconds, this screen shows up, demanding me to press the power button
6.I ignore it and keep holding vol. down + vol. up, after a while , it goes away automatically , and goes back to this screen
And stays there
Ok , I do not know what I did , but somehow its in download mode now. well thanks for the help @Magendanz , what now , I flashed the original firmware , the tablet started, do I try to root it again?
Is your TWRP version ok for T515?
Also, I was asked to factory wipe the device cause the data was somehow corrupted , idk why was that cause , maybe the twrp version isn't stable? I don't know if I should try again or not.

Well, I don't have a T515, and so I really can't say for sure. I build the custom kernel from the latest SM-T515 kernel source and follow the same build process as I use for the T510, but I'm relying on others to test it. I can only say for sure that the SM-T510 builds work.

If you didn't install Multidisabler, then the fstab will require encryption. If you wiped it in TWRP, rebooting to system will insist the user partition be reformatted with encryption before it will proceed unless dm-verity is disabled.
