WE Need A perfectly working twrp not the EU ONE DEVELOPED FOR K30 - Xiaomi Poco X2 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi Guys
I wanted to root my phone and was searching for twrp but i found that our beloved Poco x2 dont have a twrp recovery we have the Eu recovery which we have to boot from fastboot also we can't flash magisk with that recovery
Also this recovery is not available on xda we have to go on eu site
We can see lot's of development for poco x2 but we also need a Fully functional TWRP RECOVERY
So i am requesting developer to work on this and develop a fully functional TWRP RECOVERY For poco x2
If you guys agree with me don't forget to thumbs up this so that it with reach to masses

Twrp cant completely working on K30 because of Android 10. You should be happy because at least you have a Twrp to flash something.
•Look at Pixel 4 device. They don't even have a Twrp, or Rom..!

We all know that for custom rom flashing recovery are essential part
We need to find solutions like we did when we were not able to root with supersu because of android update
So magisk was developed and i works flawlessly with newer android version
Like when cwm was replaced by twrp
Or we can do necessary changes with twrp
We need to find solution for this and should not be happy that we can flash like you said
Thankyou

Shut up! Did you pay the devs? Stop demand too much. It will be here on xda when it's ready. Your post doesn't contribute anything. Live with what you have. Things take time. This kind of post makes devs left the community.

Yes i have donated for development
And you have no rights to shut me
And i am not demanding but Sharing my opinion (That's why we have this section)
Obviously we'll have twrp here once developed
And why are you this rude your girlfriend/wife cheated you?
Next if you try to reply make sure don't use this kinda language this shows how was your upbringing and this clearly is not allowed here on xda to use such kinda language so use this in your home not here
Thank you

What frustrates me is people like you screaming on top of their lungs without knowing a single thing.
Here is an official statement from TWRP regarding devices that ship with Android 10; https://twrp.me/site/update/2019/10/23/twrp-and-android-10.html
The TWRP we have right now is more than we can ask for. I have been using the same TWRP, flashed it via Fastboot once and didn't have to flash again, I don't know which recovery you are talking about but please do some research before saying random things, the developers don't owe you a thing. If you hate it so much just stick to Stock MemeUi.
First, there is that guy who was crying because he didn't know how to use MiFlash and now you.
No reply? Huh.

It's not possible, atleast for now. Due to the super partition being read only the system can't be mounted or have any changes modified to it. And many twrp functions depends on those partitions primarily. Blame Google's shrewd ways to f!ck developers in by introducing ****load of complexity in android 10 not the developers, stick to what we have now eventually if we're lucky we'll get it.

You guys have to realize that development is dynamic in nature, and can take time. Every device has its own share of challenges, quirks and issues. Plus the developers that are around on XDA are mostly doing this as a hobby, as a passion, mostly free of cost. Yes, donations can be encouraging, but donating ≠ paying for a service. Donations are, and should be voluntary, without any expectation of anything in return. Just because you donated to a developer does not mean he owes something to you, or anyone else.
If this was a constructive thread, I would've let it remain open since curbing discussions is not our goal on XDA, but I see no point of this thread -- it's only creating more drama along with borderline rude/bashful replies. Thread is being closed.
Have patience, and be kind to each other.

[Q] Just got my SII - which ROM should I chose?

I am brand new
Which ROM?
R there any ICS ones?
WOuld love to hear ur thoughts
Thank you
Seriously, if you don't know whether or not there's even an ICS ROM available yet, maybe you shouldn't be flashing a $600+ phone, yeah? Or, you know... use the search tool?

you should try with stock rom for a while, start reading about flashing roms and you will be ready to flash
I know it's annoying to have to wait, but it's better to do it, than wind up with a potentially ruined device.
@benyben123
I suggest trying out Checkrom 4.0. It is very stable
Stock ROM but ROOTED and your' good to go..................friendly recommendation
Dude, if You just got Your phone and don't know what rom to choose at first learn the device. You don't need neither custom rom nor root. These are just addons for great device. It's common that people don't use their device but play with it and it ends badly. You assumed that any rom is good apart from stock but stock rom is very good. Also You don't need to root it instantly. Some say that "phone is unusable in non rooted state" - it's bull s**t. Apps that require root are designed to meet very specific needs, not for regular users. It's because android is veery advanced and allow many things without administrator privileges (this is not an iphone !). Remember - people think that root is "something everyone should do at once" - no it's not, and it's very dangerous in hands of unexperienced user. One false move with root privileges and You will start learning many things about flashing at once just to recover your device. Also remember that this is not another "application privilege". App with root privs is capable of wiping entire system in a seconds including IMEI data etc.
It's really friendly advice - leave Your phone as it is for now, learn how it works, install some apps and read as much as You can. Then You will know what your device is capable of and what can be achieved by rooting / flashing kernels or roms. Flashing without a reason, just for fun is stupid and ends with full pants.

Slig

But is MIUI even supported? Isn't it ported (which means its not so good, but only kinda?)

...another thing worth to read about. What do You mean by supported ? It's supported by it's designers.
For SGS2 we have custom ROMs like CheckROM - modified Samsung officials, added some tweaks, apps, removed less usable apps. And ROMs like MIUI or CyanogenMod - they are AOSP (android open source project) and have little in common with Samsung official firmware, ex. no TouchWiz so some Samsung specific apps will not work on them. According to Wikipedia - MIUI is based on CM7.1 sources.
MIUI is not "ported", it's prepared for many devices including SGS2.
Don't do *anything* until you've done a *lot* of reading. Enjoy the phone. It's a fantastic device simply running stock firmware.
Once you're comfortable enough to be able to do it in your sleep (And not before. If you have to ask questions about this, you're not ready. It is an absolutely simple process), root your phone using a CFRoot kernel.
This will enable you to remove/freeze all the crap telcos/Samsung put on the phone and all the other joyful things that come with having a rooted phone. And do a lot more reading. Only this time read the threads devoted to the various roms/kernels. Read other users experiences with these. The features. Pluses. Downsides. Ask specific questions about them in these threads.
From there, you can make an informed decision about a rom/kernel combo to try. Believe me, if you do a couple of weeks of reading/research before you do anything, you'll reap the rewards.
If you jump in the deep end without understanding what you're doing, you could end up with a soft brick that might take you a few days to fix at best. Or returning the phone to Samsung /potentially having to pay to have it repaired out of your own pocket at worst.
Just a few things to consider

[Q] [HELP] [Samsung S4 I545 VRUDMI1] [Looked Bootloader] Need a recovery that works.

Dear XDA Developers Comunity,
First of all, I really appreciate the hard work to keep us satisfied with the updates and improvements in technological systems.
Yesterday, I made my first Root on my phone ( Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 ).... unfortunately brings with the latest version and has the VRUMI1 basis, I have understood that the Bootloader is locked, however, if anyone has had the honor of installing any Recovery to a phone with the same version as mine, I would appreciate very much if you indicate me how to do it.
What have I done so far?
Rooted my phone
I rooted my phone very easy following the steps of ..... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2487142 (Thanks beanstown106 for this)

********* I tried via GooManager (But the download never starts, I do not understand how bad could it be their the download servers).
********* I tried via Loki_Flash but I indicates this message "Loki about version does not match device" till after I understood that this way of flashing devices is to the MDK basis only.

Oh lordy, please read and search the threads, you already managed to read enough to get as far as you did. You can install Safe Strap, although it is a bit buggy on MI1 from what I have read. No custom recovery option. Just root and debloat and be happy, that is the best route for now. See if 4.4 can bring some new exploits. I was rooted on MI1, I just followed the thread to upgrade to MJ7 and stay rooted. I am not dealing with safe strap, just seems like too much work for a phone that already works great.
Thanks for reply

I really appreciate your prompt response. As you see, I am a new user to this kind of things. But still I seek the opportunity to find the best sources to make these changes on my phone and be lucky with testing ROMs and the best Deployed Apps .... Yes I have read that so far no method for Recovery, but you never know if someone has made work and willing to show how.
I have read about Safestrip, but I see there are errors with the Bootloader, do you think this could work for me?.
BTW Can you please give me more information about "debloat"? Thank you very much my friend.

Yes, actually you do know, because anyone that has made it work will post to XDA that they did it.
Relax. The S4 is a nice phone as it is, enjoy it for now. Pay attention here at your leisure for any new developments if you must.
There's still a huge bounty if someone gets a bootloader unlock. I doubt if somebody figured it out they would turn down a huge chunk of money and not tell anyone about it.
Don't worry, if someone unlocks the bootloader it will be all over XDA.

Wrong, there's a way to root the phone. The first step is to flash the recovery partition with a custom recovery (TWRP), and then to install SuperSU from the custom recovery, which effectively roots the phone. But for now the flashing utility is still not publicly released.

I know you said you have the root tool. Maybe if you request to publish it, more people will be pumped about it. Even if it's a beta I mentioned what I said before on my prior post, there is nothing available because DeckerSu hasn't publicly released it.

I just got this idol4 yesterday. Its replacing my moto e 2015 xt1527 that I had rooted. Sadly I lost that phone. Sadly because I had become so familiar with that device and its major ROM developers/contributors over the last year
So I must say I was a bit disappointed to hear rooting this device will not be as straight forward as last time.
If there are any steps I can take to aid the process feel free to let me know.

Here are a few tidbits. So far I haven't done anything extraneous like attempt any flashes, I've just been peeping. ADB replies "device" when prompted and let me cp those files. .
Is there something specific I need to be pulling that would help crack open this Idol?
P.s. The text document getprop.txt was generated with terminal command getprop in ADB shell. Its funny, the busybox components look present in system/bin, yet many commands return errors like "get proc not found in system/bin/sh..." to that effect.
And this line popped right out from that same document: [init.svc.flash_recovery]: [stopped]
I'm not sure if any of this info is useful to anyone. So far I haven't found a use for it. Lol
I'm still digging..
I havent been on here for awhile. Any new news on the idol4 for cricket? Any rooting possibilities yet?

[RECOVERY][UNOFFICIAL] TWRP 3.2.1.0 for the Idol 4

Hi all, I really wish I had been able to build this myself but alas, I don't have anyone to spoon feed me the knowledge to get me through a full build. Luckily I was able to find a talented group of people who were able to build the newest TWRP for us from scratch using my Stock Idol 4- 6055U Recovery. So credits for this new build go to TWRP Builder Team for putting this together and I guess credits to me for taking the time to hunt down some dang support for our phone, lol. Anyways, here it is, and please enjoy.
If you enjoy or are thankful for this or anything else that I've done, please hit the thanks button

There are no "Custom" roms out yet for this phone. If I had the knowhow, i'd be on it. All that's available are 2 roms based on stock. There is shinjitsu rom based on the 6077K model and there is cricketrom built from the 6055U model. Shinjitsu rom was a good start but hasn't been updated since it was released. Cricketrom is updated as needed when I can find the time. I plan to add languages back since that is the number one question I've had and show box will be updated. PLanned release in the next couple days as long as I don't have issues figuring out what files i removed that were languages.
Does DATA partition decrypt for anyone? Even can't mount usb otg. Flashed over TWRP APP. Seem to be non operational...
you have to start over with the stock rom and install newest TWRP. That seems to be an issue sometimes and I'm not sure why. My fiances phone did that but not mine. I reflashed hers with stock and started over and when I flashed TWRP all was fine again.

Question Why do few devs want their own recovery installed than supporting Custom Recoveries ?

I mean we unlock our bootloaders for more freedom and greater support right?

from my point of view they are irrelevant on vab devices (without disrespecting recovery devs they are doing an amazing job as well)
Stock Recovery works for wiping/flashing
About Backup/Restore idk for you but it never worked for me.
Modifying System Files? Maybe but you can do it from the o.s.
There are some kernel specific features (like f2fs compress) they do not work on custom rec.
And for EROFS ROMs ... it turn useless bcoz of read-only filesystem.
It should be useful when some magisk module gives you a nice bootloop and you can remove it from twrp but... you can do it on a stock recovery too..
maybe there should be more needed features but idk about them coz i used twrp only a few times
Unfortunately, it's custom recovery's lack of support for newer file systems (as @alonsoj636 said) & probably due to incompatibility of recovery based OTA updates.
TWRP & OFOX are still useful in a lot of ways, but for you to stick to them, you gotta reflash recovery the moment you updated the ROM, caz it'll replace the existing custom one after the next bootup.
If you don't wanna deal with all these custom ROM nonsense, there's a GSI pathway that I've made a how to guide (which also has it's own querks btw).
Great answers. Thanks.
I studied a bit about the AB devices. Your replies make sense. Also i have made up mind not to flash any android versions after 13 on this device.
I tried to flash gsi but it did not boot. Not a guy who knows coding and much. I will give it a try maybe again. It is bit more complex for me since i have a ubuntu system.
Phones are increasingly becoming complex. I miss smaller phones with great battery and less clutter. I had Htc Desire C in 2011. Loved it. From the Indian perspective: dual sim phones will soon become unnecessary burden as cellular plans are becoming costlier due to Duopoly and less competition in the market + inflation.
