Redmi 8a magisk rooting problem - Xiaomi Redmi 8A Questions & Answers

Hello, I am having a problem trying to install magisk on my Redmi 8a. My MIUI version is MIUI Global 10.3.3 | Stable 10.3.3.0(PCPMIXM). I've been exploring xda forums and whatnot to figure out how to install a Custom Recovery. Currently I have Orangefox so we are good there. The issue I am having has to do with a powershell command not working.
adb shell dd if=/dev/block/by-name/boot of=/sdcard/boot.img
I've been following a youtube guide titled How to Root Xiaomi Redmi 8A (Patch Boot.Img & Install Magisk) by a user named Ben Kone.
Yes I have adb drivers, powershell worked when I was getting my Custom Recovery Orangefox. If anyone knows why the command isn't working I would love to hear, or if someone knows an alternative way root with magisk.
Quick sidenote I'm very new to rooting.

i have similar problems. I had MIUI 11 with android 9, I installed a recovery update to android 10 with MIUI 11.
I have the bootloader unlocked, I have the recovery orange fox.
When I tried to install magisk by recovery, I couldn't do it. I tried different ways. Tried SuperSu, Tried ADB with modified boot.img file but nothing works.
Apparently the phone does not have ramdisk and therefore I cannot install it. I am supposed to modify the recovery.img file to install by ADB, but I don't know how to back it up.
I will try to go back to android 9 to see if I can root the phone.
I have rooted and changed from rom to several xiaomi, the last ones were a note 5 pro and a redmi 7, and everything worked fine, but my redmi 8a is giving me headaches.

I'm having trouble on my redmi 8a to install magisk I'm going to twrp to install magisk over there but when you restarted your phone root magisk doesn't

Are you on android 10 (android 10 vendor) you need to make your boot permissive the quickest way to do this would be use this file give it permissions 0755 and place it in data/adb/fs data

mi 8 lite bricked

hi everyone Sorry for my English. I have a mi 8 lite that I wanted to root to install a custom rom. And after unlocking the bootloader, I end up with a phone that has anti rollback protection. I try to install the twrp with great difficulty which I succeed but with a not clear display and the touch screen does not work. So I want to go back to a stock rom. But here I am still stuck. Cannot install a rom. That errors on miflash.
please help me

Hello, do not sorry for your English, since it's not your mother tongue.
You have to be more specific in the description of your problem. What rom was you using? What twrp did you use? Did you follow the exactly instructions on twrp topic?
I had some problems trying twrp some time ago, then I'd tried orange fox recovery and it worked perfectly on my mi 8 lite global back on miui 9. Now I'm on 12.0.3 update and it's still running fine.

Thank you for the answer. The problem is that my phone starts up with a black screen, even in fastboot. According to the tutorials, this is normal. For the twrp I took it from this page: https://tech-mizan.blogspot.com/2018/10/xiaomi-mi-8-lite-twrp-recovery.html
and followed the instructions outlined. Then I tried others. But this display problem is still present. I will try orange fox. Did you install it in fastboot or in recovery? Actually I just wanna go back to a stock
If all you need is to go back to stock, you can flash stock rom with xiaomi ADB fastboot tools. This java software can download correct rom from xiaomi for your device, and flash it in fastboot. You can download it from here:
GitHub - Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools: A simple tool for managing Xiaomi devices on desktop using ADB and Fastboot

After that, I advise you to load some custom recovery (look in dev section here on XDA) and install magisk to root your phone.

Question [EMERGENCY] Need a TWRP backup of Indian Mi 11X Pro

Hello everyone! I am in quite a bit of trouble after trying to flash xiaomi.eu rom on my Indian Mi11X Pro. I accidentally flashed everything from the EU rom and that seems to have bricked my phone. When I tried flashing the stock rom, I get a crc error. Even if I force flash it, it always boots into fastboot. Tried downloading multiple time as well. Did not help. The firmware is probably messed.
I did have a TWRP backup made but that got erased accidentally when my sdcard was wiped.
If any of you have an Indian Mi11X Pro, PLEASE upload a backup of super partition from twrp.
Here is what I am looking for:

EDIT: Funny how life works. I managed to fix it just after writing this.
If anyone else is having a similar issue, use the MiFlash Tool instead of using the bat or sh file directly (Or in terminal). It appears the fastboot version is very very important. All the best.

How did you manage to root it and which twrp did you install? I'm asking because I have the same phone and looking to root and install twrp.
You dont need to root your device to install twrp. You do need an unlocked bootloader though. Once your bootloder is unlocked, just follow instructions from here.

Question xiaomi mi 11i Bricked

Xiaomi mi 11i
firmware trying to install:
MIUI V12.5.7.0.RKKEUXM Stable Official Update for Mi 11i EEA (haydn)
using Miflash.
Bootloader unlocked
So, after installing the software update i tried rooting my phone again with the same method I used before.
This time I got stuck in a bootloop so I tried flashing my phone, hoping it would work. The first time it froze, so I tried redoing the process. This constantly gave me an error or it just froze.
Now, if I reinstall the firmware and try to flash it, I get an error after a while that says "FAILED (error reading sparse file)."(1)
Then when I try to use the same file to flash my phone I get another error "FAILED (write to device failed (no link)). "This one then keeps happening until I restart my pc.
So when I extract the firmware again, I also have to restart my Pc then I first get the same (1) error en then the second one after that.
I should also mention that I get the error: "error: missmatching image and device". So I just edit the bat file to remove those lines that check for this since it should be the correct fimrware.

The Rom file you installed before and you are trying to root , You Should install the same Rom file Again via Fastboot , Once you installed you can use your phone… (there might be some sort of bug or error that sometimes some versions of rom stuck in bootloop coz in past when i flashed Unofficial build of pixel experience rom and tried to root i also got stuck in bootloop). You should wait for Another update from xiaomi then you can try to root or you can use Another version of rom. Iam using i am using XIAOMI EU 12.5.7.0 RKKCNXM Also Successfully Rooted. You can check my post how to root without custom recovery by patching boot image in forum in recent posts.
