It has a proximity sensor. There is a teardown video in YouTube, and under the first corny he has uploaded the photo of proximity sensor.

I've had this phone for over a month now, also got an issue with the proximity sensor when on call it turns on the screen and my cheek keeps pressing different buttons. Software could fix this issue but I doubt Xiaomi cares...

Since a lot of ousers are getting that problem, I wonder if it is finally fixed? I am seriously thinking of buying this device, but this open topic still keeps me waiting because this wuld make the device useless. So are there any details known about the reason this happens? Is it a hardware or software issue? Any information from Xiaomi so far?

For me it was fixed like 3 updates ago. I even rememer reading update notes and it said: fixed promiximity sensor issues. No idea what others are about. If proximity sensor was broken, do you really think there would be 4 comments here?

Check this thread on Mi note 10 lite proximity sensor issues!!! https://c.mi.com/thread-3130757-1-0.html?t=1600791689346
Quoting comment #217:
This is a hardware issue because the sensor is triggered not only from the front (like a normal infrared proximity sensor) but also from the back and top (you can check this by running the sensor test). Thus, the developers bypassed the problem when the phone is on the table, and the sensor is triggered on the table surface and the like (otherwise the screen will turn off due to the sensor). They decided to simply turn off the sensor when the phone is tilted about 45 degrees from the ground. A very stupid idea. It is clear that the phone was not particularly tested before the launch, or the developers have little understanding of how people use the phone. The phone cannot be used while lying or on the move. They probably think that people talk on the phone exclusively standing perpendicular to the ground and not moving. In short, there is no hope of fixing this problem. The most they can do is increase the angle at which the proximity sensor turns off. Bad hardware design.

You can check that proximity sensor isn't working correctly by dialing *#*#6484#*#* and selecting option 14

For me it works most of the time in vertical position.

I am also facing the same issue. Can you please share your ROM version and update number so that I can try to find and flash it on my mobile to check.

Make sure the IR sensor at the top of your phone isn't blocked by your case, that was my issue (with the stock case). My new case has a much bigger hole for it, works fine when I lift it up for calls.

hi i'm complaining about the same problem. there is no possibility to fix with software.

Yup I'm holding it down and nothing happens. sometimes it turns green but it doesn't actually focus. most of the time it just turns red
You got shaky hands then.. try different mpdes.

Lumia keeps locking up

Has anyone experienced their Lumia locking up?
It's happened to me three times in three days now. The screen is off and the handset unresponsive - all calls go straight to voicemail. The only thing I can do is hold the power button for ten seconds to re-start it. The battery has loads of charge (86% on the last lock up) so I don't think it's a power issue.
It's not great having to keep checking to make sure that it's still running and I'm not missing calls.
I have a similar issue. Sometimes lock wakes the phone to a black screen. The buttons are still responsive but nothing fixes it save a reset. Really hope this is a software and not a hardware issue.
---------- Post added at 04:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:22 PM ----------
I've looked into the issue a bit more and although this probably isn't what is happening to you, using third party or rapid charge chargers create a current problem that requires restart. This should be fixed in the next update (hopefully). May I ask what hardware revision your device is?

Desire 610

I'm running out of places to go to and well, I have a simple problem with the phone itself.
I left the phone charging overnight and this morning I went to take it out and it was off. I tried turning it on, nothing happen. I tried plugging it to my USB charger than my other wall charger, nothing. I took the back off and checked the battery, nothing significant that I could tell had changed.
Some background, the touchscreen is a bit weird, the way left side of the screen does not respond, it was like that when I got from a friend. There are currently four hairline cracks (from dropping it multiple of times.). Everything else I have one seemed fine, though.
Well, the left side of the screen not responding is a problem with the digitizer, which tracks your fingerprints, telling the phone basically what to do when you touch the screen, but does the charging light go on when you plug it into a charger? If it does, its probably just the screen itself, which means you need a new screen, if it doesn't go on, its probably more than just a screen repair you looking for
---------- Post added at 07:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:22 PM ----------
Also, dropping it multiple times does have the chance of damaging some important internal stuff

The charging light does not go on, which was something did notice unplugging it.
Yeah like I said, its more than just a screen replacement your looking for. It would be less time and money to just get a new phone honestly

LCD panel

Alright I have something weird with my phone I want to why and what may be the reason
When I leave my phone a while or when it's cold the LCD panel goes crazy touch is fine no ghost touch but the LCD panel itself freaks out and sometimes the screen flickers till the phone gets warm again and goes back to normal
Any suggestions or help will appreciate it
Thanks in advance
I Googled a lot and didn't find something useful
Seems like some water vapor condensed in it, leave all the flips open for a night in a well-ventilated area then the problem should then be solved.

Yes happens to me too
When its really cold, I get it but after some warming it is fine.
Flaps all closed don't know why it happens.
I check the temps and its around 28-30 when it starts occurring.

I have the same problem.
I cleaned my phone before using water( didn't dip it).
Do you think this would solve my issue?
Since that happened a months back.

Could be due to too humid, and the water vapour gets into your phone.

Okay now I have something else I noticed when my CPU temperature lower than 40 it starts to freak out and flickers a lot @iXaidyiu
I would say it's probably the display ribbon connector.
If it was me I'd go the easy route - remove the rear cover and disconnect / reconnect the plug a couple of times then test it for a day with the cover temporarily replaced.
If you're sure it's then working order a new rear cover gasket and reattach the cover permanently.
Heres a teardown guide:

I replaced the old original ones with the fakes from Chinese websites.
Is there any place where we can obtain the original flaps?

Screen Not Waking Properly

Just got the Verizon V30 and I do have AOD on. When I put the phone to sleep with power or knock off I have trouble waking it up. It appears the screen goes off totally when I flip it over or put it in my pocket. Whe I pull it out of the pocket it will not wake up with power button or knock on taps for a good 20 seconds or more.
I cannot find a setting to stop the screen for totally going off when I pocket the phone. I can confirm that I do NOT have the smart lock feature enabled. I’m just using a PIN code unlock, no facial or voice recognition. I really like the phone but I can’t have this happening every time I take it out of my pocket or turn it over on the couch.
Any ideas?
Thanks for reading.

Do you have any screen protector on the phone? Any battery saver apps or settings? In my experience the AOD is suppose to go off when turned over or put in a pocket. I haven't seen a way to change that. Mine might take a couple seconds to awaken, but never 20 seconds.

I just began having this issue. Do you still have the device?
It never worked correctly so I got rid of it. My coworker still uses his and has no issues. Sorry I can't help more.

I try it by my V30 and had no problems. It is eventually just a random bug?

I have my since December from last year and only now it started to behave like that.. I don't know if it is a software issue or hardware issue of some kind. I've tested the sensors and they appear to be fine.. I will try to do a backup of my data and perform a hard reset to see if it helps, but I'm not counting on it...
I don't use AOD. Just try it to reproduce the problem. Maybe my V30 get the same problems after long term use of it.
The only problem i get random with screen is, that after a restart the colors get crazy there are not normal after enabling Comfort View all get back normally but it is a other story.

I did some tests (issue of being a former Senior QA Engineer). I've tried disabling the AOD and the same thing happened. What I just did is disabling the Knock-On feature.
I need to test it more thoroughly but the issue didn't happen after that.. YET. I need to go somewhere, with the phone in my pockets for a longer period (even though by now I should've seen the issue again) just to be sure and even trying to enable the Knock-On back again.. But let's see..
As for the colors, I really can't say much because I've never used the comfort view feature (I usually just dim down the brightness at night and that's all).
Yeah test it i will it do too. I enabling the AOD and say you next day when i get some problems.
I testing AOD since yesterday and dont get any problem until now.

I still need to try the Comfor Color to see if it happens here. Is only that I always forget to try.
With mine the AOD worked well since day one. I did some things that seemed to have fixed somehow...
I've removed the device from the case I was using (a simple thin one). gave it a good cleaning, forced the power button for a while because I was feeling it was getting stucked. It seemed to keep showing issues HOWEVER, after I disabled the Knock-On feature, left it off for a while it stopped to have issues. I enabled it again and now it is working perfectly... I don't know if it was a coincidence or a sum of all factors.. but now it seems to be working...
