Importing to Europe - Microsoft Surface Duo Questions & Answers

I am interested to import to Germany. Typically I use myus.com as forwarder but would be interested if anybody knows any alternative options via UK or other ways to minimize customs/tax.

Got mine on bigapplebuddy.com. There was no tax

Same here with big apple buddy. With the low $ rate it turned out an okay price. Somehow was also not taxed, but I guess that was just luck or they don't want to deal with the 16vs19% tax at the moment. (also lucky to not getting a faulty one.)

Got mine on bigapplebuddy.com, shipped to France through Fedex, paid 280€ custom fees.

I got mine too, at the end I had to use BigAppleBuddy too. Paid 193 Euro duties for 128GB version. Loving it so far but as a second device.

Surface duo in Europe
And no issues with American office 365 or logging in as a European user?

And none of you who bought through Bigapplebuddy has had any of the problems reported with internals being visible (back panel not glued together)?
And also, how is it in terms of support? If any problems occur with your surface Duo while not living in America, is there anywhere you can send to get it checked out?

I live in the Netherlands and bought the surface duo via bigapplebuddy. Both bigapplebuddy as well as the surface duo work like a charm! The device was delivered in 5 days. Only real point of criticism on the sd side is the launcher. It's hardly customisable and has some (minor) issues with gestures. Besides that the launcher gets confused quite often when you put the sd in phone mode and flip it over to use the other screen (eg for making pictures).

stores in singapore

can you help me find stores in singapore selling case for polaris. a friend is going there this month and im asking him to buy for me. preferably capdase, pdair(aluminum or leather), noreve, & krussel.
Hi, I don't know if I'm too late.
In singapore, there are 2 malls famous for their IT products, Funan and Sim Lim.
I bought my leather case for my Polaris at Funan (level 2) for $25, and I think there are cheaper ones. Ground level has a few push cart stalls that sell the same thing too.
Sim Lim ground level has quite a lot of stalls that sell casings for all types of mobiles. Either the 5th or 6th level there is a shop called Million Mobile (or something to that effect) that has tons of mobile accessories, including Polaris cases.
bought one already couple of weeks ago, thanks anyway.

Keyboard Dock Uk Stock

I see Ebuyer.com now have 61 units in stock for next day delivery only £99.99 inc free super saver delivery
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/270540
Update 22nd June 2011
Ebuyer now put price up to £199.99 WTF
the price is still a bit steep for early adopters who missed the asus keyboard offer in April....
... it certainly is steep - BUT i got mine at the weekend - it arrived from dabs.com (also 99 quid) -after waiting 3 weeks for stock to come in.... it is awesome - totally changes how I can use it. Really great. There was a firmware upgrade as soon as I first used it which I've seen discussed on other threads.
I just need to find a decent folio case for the whole thing now . . .

yeah..agree the kb dock itself is awesome..and should be a must have for most TF owners....
the battery in the dock really makes it a life changer..
not really complaining about its price...it's probably the only thing that's priced close to its US version...was hoping asus can extend its early adopter offer a bit though..
I wouldnt pay that much for it tbh, lucky i got mine originally from asus at the offer price but sold mine as apart from the extra juice it didnt suit my needs after using the tablet for a while but it is a clever way of making it hybrid.
but thinking about it when the asus case costs 39.99 retail with pdair cases going for £60, yiou do get a lot for your money and it does not seem that bad of value
I got mine separately because I wanted the 32 Gig version which isn't offered as a bundle with keyboard which is odd to say the least.
As you say the battery life now truly incredible.
Just got my dock on order with ebuyer.
Do you get a separate psu for the dock?

Not bad deal

Down to 31 in stock now, wish I had the funds to pick up a dock. I can't wait to try out some coding for USB devices when I get one.
just ordered mine, now down to 14 in stock looking forward to the additional functionality
How to pruchase a keyboard dock from the UK to Spain
I wonder if any of you lads in the UK can help me: I live in Barcelona , Spain and I ordered my TF101 from the USA, I will get it in some days. In the online store they weren't offering the keyboard Dock , and I have tried to order it within Spain but it seems here they only sell it bundled with the tablet (16 gb or 32 gb). So far I haven't been able to find a shop (offline or online) that sells them separately, I have been looking into the ones you mention here from the UK but so far they all serve UK residents only. On ebay there are only a few merchants offering it but far too pricey (the cheapest is around 140 pounds (besides with English/Chinese keyboard layout), I would like one with either English or Spanish layout, so buying one from the UK would be just as good. Can anyone suggests me an online shop in the UK that delivers to continental Europe? (apart from ebay and Amazon of course)
Many thanks in advance!
You could try Dabs.ie, they have some on order at the moment but should be the European arm of Uk based Dabs.com.

Thanks, but that is only for Irish customers, I found out they only serve UK and Ireland. But thanks anyway for answering!
Just checked ebuyer and they have 9 left but put 100 pound on the price. I bought mine for 99 pound on tuesday night and they are now 199 pound. What a scam unless it is a typo

Share your experience if you bought op2 from another source other than op

I have found about 7 to 8 sites selling the OP2 without an invite .of course with higher prices but some for nearly the same price as oneplus excluding shipping. So if you are one of those who bought it this way, please share your experience.
Bought mine through swappa. It's the way to go. Got the device plus bumper plus swapstyle cover for an incredible price. Have used this site many times and have had a tremendous amount of good luck
Sent from my ONE A2005 using Tapatalk 2
I bought mine from a guy on. Craigslist. It was unopened. and he had he receipt and everything. Came with case also.
You guys living across the pond have got it all ?
Any international experiences?
I bought it from oppomart. I live in Lithuania and we have huge taxes from third party countries .. but oppomart offers international shipping without taxes. So i bought OPT and it arrived after 9~10days like they said. Everything works fine till now, happy with price and delivery so far.
To overcome taxes they ship your phone to France (in my case) and then reshipped to my country directly. You can track your order online no problem. So in my experience i highly recommend oppomart. They have pretty good support too, answered my every message almost instantly.
Bought my OPT from Aliexpress and it arrived within a week. At first I was glad to see that my phone was legit and properly working. It came preconfigured in my language and prerooted. However there was no OTA option available...
In the first week I experienced a lot of bloatware and popups which were very annoying. After roaming around xda forums and gaining some knowledge about the device I decided to give it a try and flash oxygen OTA. I have bumped into a couple problems on the road but am very happy I did.
My OPT now works perfectly and no more popups to be found!
Overall, very happy with my device and Ali (except the bloatware and popups.)
Do not trust Oppomart.
I buy two time from oppomart first time they sent me a new phone, second time a used phone, I sent back and they stole me 400 euro on refound.
“I’m sorry the packet arrived empty are you sure you put the phone inside?”
Come on!
I buy from aliexpress and pandawill, it never happen something like this
Bought it from Swappa too unopened. It came sealed. I've made it my daily driver but I'm not 100% sure on it only because of the battery. I have an LG G4 with the Zerolemon battery. I can be so wreckless with that zerolemon battery. Still the main reason I bought the Oneplus 2 is the dual sim feature and its pure stock android.
Still getting used to the phone. Just now have to worry about the battery life. Other than that a great experience
Bought mine from oppomart. At first start the home button did not work but after OTA update it works. Strangely no bloatware has popped up, yet there was a chinese music video of some rock band on it . Still I'm happy with the phone works great.
I got mine at sham shui po here in Hong Kong for hk$2950 ($380).
It's not the most common device among the cellphone shops here, but you can easily find stock if you ask around. Some even have demo units (of course running hydrogen OS).
So far I'm happy with the decision.
Sent from my ONE A2001 using Tapatalk
I used Oppomart. Tracked my box from Asia to France and then to UK. The day after which it was delivered. Got an A2001 model with free UK adapter for the EU plug, a pre-installed Oxygen 2.0, a couple of cases and a tempered glass cover all for just over £300.
I have not found any faults or experienced any unexpected issues. I am a happy shopper.
Bought mine from swappa. Phone was mint and came with bamboo and Kevlar back covers, a translucent grey protective cover, a tempered glass screen protector and a type C USB adapter. All for less then what the phone alone would have cost new. It was 3 weeks old and receipt was included as well.... Not a mark on it!!
I bought mine on open sale!!!!
Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk
Got mine from a local online store here in the Philippines, a lot of gadget online stores here are offering OP2.
I think they got it from HK. Got min with OxygenOS 2.0.2 already.
Bought my OPT from Aliexpress for 375€ + 20€ DHL shipping to Austria. It took about one week to arrive in perfect condition. No taxes as promised by the seller. The phone is the chinese version, but it came with pre installed (bloatwarefree) Oxygen OS 2.1.0. OTA update to 2.1.1 worked fine.
I have an opportunity to buy a mint 64gb model on craigslist for $350. Im considering it so i can return my m9 to tmobile. The battery life stinks. Im a bit weary because the oneplus i had a year ago lagged like hell for me.

Best place to buy a Poco[phone] F1 for European import?

I've seen it on SunSky for about €300 including 2-4 day delivery to Ireland with DHL.
Seems to be an international version but I'm not sure it would have Play out of the box (a very temporary issue!).
I've never used SunSky and their reviews are a bit variable. I guess paying through PayPal would offer some protection.
Can anyone recommend them or any better option?
It must and shall be mine!
Actually, it looks like it'll get an EU launch in a few days, so that should simplify things
Can't really imagine it being sold in Ireland for €280, but we'll soon see....

Like I say, you can get it through the above link delivered through DHL in 2-4 days for €300. That's not bad at all, I reckon
I'm looking to get this phone as soon as possible. The cheapest price I could find was also on SunSky for £246, excluding shipping charges. Kimovil is a great website for finding the best prices on smartphones. It would be wise to keep checking there over the next couple of weeks until the phone surfaces in other stores.

I bought two separate phones from China and wasn't required to pay customs duty to the UK on either of them. The first phone was a ZUK Z2 that I bought on Banggood and the second was a ZTE Axon 7 that came from AliExpress. It only took 5 days for the latter to arrive and that was with the standard free shipping option.

I know quite a lot of people in the UK who have bought phones from China and not had to pay customs duty. Maybe it just depends on the country. Both of the websites I bought from marked the device as an 'MP3 Player' on the customs deceleration label and put the value at about $17 USD. They also tick the checkbox that says 'Gift' since I think customs duty doesn't apply to presents.
Providing you choose the slowest free delivery option (eg. China Post) you shouldn't have too much trouble. The problem comes when you pick an express service such as DHL since those are more prone to customs checks.
Hi all,
I bought mine today on Sunsky I took the jump lol...what you need to know is this..It's not 3/4 days delivery to Ireland or UK is 3/4 lead time as in them getting the phone ready to ship out...So still expect the usual 2/3 weeks before it's delivered....that's why your paying 280 and not 400 patience lads
I'm experienced in buying things from China and if you want to avoid paying customs and taxes always use Post NL ! Never use DHL never! as they collect taxes and keep it in there bank account to make interest and then at the end of the year they pay all the taxes and customs due to the state. DHL make a lot of money in doing this...when they see China or anywhere else outside the EU they will take the customs and taxes due and sometimes they will even charge you for doing it...this is fact!
On Sunsky Post NL is €9 which is good coming from China and avoiding customs and taxes.
The phone is nearly sold out on flipkart in India and probably will soon on Sunsky.
I would say that Aliexpress will have a lot of these phones in a few weeks and they might be even cheaper than 280 .
Use kimovil to compare prices there, I see bangood have it there for 350 so that's a big jump from 280.
I recently bought a Huawei honor v10 ...I only got it Saturday...I'm going to sell it because the bootloader can not be unlocked and can't be rooted. This Poco Phone looks very promising development wise so I'm looking forward to getting it in a few weeks
Happy Poco hunting
I believe it's important to note that the version on offer on Sunsky is the "lowest" end of the pack being 6GB + 64GB. I have more interest in the middle section with 128GB or even their top tier with 256GB; depending on its price. I'll wait until there are some more mainstream purchase channels. I'm really excited about this device though!
Since the Poco F1 has an microSD card slot there is really no need to go for the bigger options. Just buy a 64gb microSD for 20$. Also its easier to flash custom roms with a microSD (files like picture, videos etc can stay on the SD and internal storage can be formated)

So true, 6g ram is enough for 2018 and more and as for storage 64 is a lot as it is...SD card is the best thing for flashing and a lot of people have a SD card already...
@mili2110 Ah yes, excellent point. I'm so used to not having that feature on OnePlus One, I didn't even consider an sdcard slot @Damoedge is very right as well. Thanks to the fabulous RAM management of Android there is absolutely no need for 8GB today.
Still, as I currently own my OPO nearly 4 years; those 8GB do appeal to me as I'll probably still be using them in 2022

I agree that microSD is good for flashing; but I prefer internal storage since it is faster in most cases, more reliable, less messy (everything in one place, rather than two!) and can be encrypted without any hassle. I know on most phones there's an option to encrypt microSD as part of the internal storage, but I could never get my head around it on the Axon 7.
For example; once the SD card is encrypted, how do you copy files to it since it disappears from all of your file managers? I realise it's supposed to be 'combined' with your internal storage but where is the freedom in choose what files go where? I would rather just spend the extra money and save myself a massive headache.
If the bleeding edge pixel 3 is about to launch with 4gb and 64gb internal storage without an SD slot, I think I might scrape by with a 6/64gb Poco with the same processor and pop in my 128gb super fast SD card formatted as adoptable storage (for a lot less than half the price)
I also bought one on SunSky yesterday Thursday 23th http://bit.ly/PocoF1SunSky for about 300 EUR via DHL.
Today chatted with their support for customize the Customs declaration invoice, and they telled me that will start receiving units on Tuesday 28th, on black, at the moment. Worlwide launch will be the day before, Monday 27th.

Where to buy from?

Let's get a list of places where this will be selling including importing.
WondaMobile expecting to ship by Oct 15th. This is with 256gb rom £759 which is slightly cheaper than UK pricing with double storage. https://www.wondamobile.com/sony-xperia-5-ii-8gb-ram-256gb-sim-free-unlocked.html
Otto (and maybe others?) offers a promotion product (Sony »WF-1000XM3 True Noise Cancelling«) additional to the mobile: https://www.otto.de/p/sony-xperia-5...2-mp-kamera-1225041412#variationId=1225041413
It is already available here in Sweden since a few days ago for ca 865€ bundled with WH1000XM3 headphones.
I am waiting for the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro but this is tempting too. I could buy it, sell the headphones and get some of the cash back so phone will be closer to my budget but I am not sure if I wanna do that since the front camera is same as on Xperia 1 II and that one was so crappy according to user reviews so what if this one is crappy too. Also no 30w or faster charging like on Chinese brand phones.
Any other places selling the 256gb model?
Be good to know if there is any way to get hold of the elusive grey model here in the UK. Not interested in black or blue, but the overseas sites like Expansys only have black blue or pink. Grey seems to be available in Europe, but not UK - unless Vodafone get it as an exclusive colour which they normally do with Xperias.
Vodafone always last to the party adding Xperias to their site though which is annoying.

Yes, exactly. Poor front camera and also missing wireless charging / face unlock are the real issues that bugs me on such a nice phone for US$950. Still can't understand why Sony used such a bad Samsung (!) sensor on their top tier "Photo Pro" smartphone. That's ridiculous!

I don't think so unfortunately.
I think all Sony deals are country specific.
Belsimpel had a 300€ cashback offer on Xperia 1 II so could get the phone for ca 735€ after cashback but only if you have a NL address.
Same with this offer, you need Swedish address.
I preordered the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro for 650€. They are giving away Xiaomi Mi Essential Electric Scooter worth ca 300€ for free if you pre order before 21st October.
For me that's a better deal since I don't need headphones and I find the scooter more useful.

For any US buyers I highly suggest getting it from WondaMobile. I ordered mine last Wednesday 10/21/20 and selected free shipping. It was listed as 9-12 business days, but I just got it yesterday 10/26/20. Even shipping from Hong Kong it got here that fast. WondaMobile pays import taxes if you are outside of Europe, and you get more than one color, 5G support, 256gb. I ordered the blue model and it worked with my existing TMobile sim out of the box. It cost me 955 USD, 5 dollar premium to Sony's direct pricing the US, except you the more colors, 256gb, and you get it before December. Sadly no bonus goodies like some EU sellers, but it is easily the best way to get your hands on one in the US.
