Stock Android Hack - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Purchased a Samsung which have preinstalled a stock version of Android 9.
I want to know if someone can decompile the stock firmware and embed a malware or smth that can send anonymously details about the way phone is being used. (i suspect that the people that work at that carrier did that).
Also, do you recommend any antivirus or some software that can detect (and what should we look for) any suspicious activity that run on my phone.
One way is to install a custom rom but first i want to find out if the phone is as i suspect
Please advice.

Well, at least you can disable bloat app now, without root, via PC with debloater.
About apps that are suspected as bloat, you can see in universal debloat scripts that require root. Like this or this.

how do i know the apps that are bloating my phone? almost all apps comes with a form of advertising either a pop-up banner or the advertising that is embeded in the platform (such as youtube, that you can get rid of if you pay, i guess).

To remove bloatware from Samsung smartphones, you might use a paid 3rd-party app called Package Disabler Pro from the Google Play Store which can uninstall bloatware in few taps. It’s a pretty straight-forward process without dangling with a PC and that’s why it's the recommended method. However, the app uses Device Administrator privilege to uninstall apps, which is very sensitive permission to grant. If you are comfortable with granting the permission, you can go ahead.
Download Package Disabler Pro from the Google Play Store and install it.
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kinder.pksafety&hl=en_US
Now, simply select the apps by tapping on the checkbox and they will be disabled. To confirm the changes, just tap on the Disabled section below to see all the disabled apps. Similarly, you can uncheck the boxes to enable them.

Really ?!
Requiment says: Root OR KitKat+ (4.4+). User has Android 9. If not, you can disable almost any app from /system manualy, without PC nor root.
BTW, thread title says: V3.90 Debloater(Lets remove all that carrier bloat !! Root not required..)

You are right. Most of app uses Google Ad service. Maybe you need ad-blocker for non-root phone like Blokada. Some kind of VPN-filter, since can not write hosts file.
About ad-ware app look at this list of Samsung apps.

Bloatware are the apps what OEM/Carrier get paid for to install, bloatware typically is installed in /system or /system-priv: hence the term bloatware. Removing an app ( means completely remove it from storage medium without leaving a trace ) that is located in /system or /system-priv requires ROOT privileges. Point.

Agreed! Non-rooted phone can just disable them. Rooted phone can uninstalled them.
I had just suggest to user to disable apps (and services), until he decide to root phone or install custom recovery and delete system bloatware.

I am having this problem with my phone: Lenovo S650
The virus shows different ads. (Screenshots are given in the bottom)
It also used to install different apps again and again even after uninstalling them,
but then I searched apk files and found 10 apks. I deleted them and then it start showing only ads.
But before I used to have only one ad and now I am having multiple different type of adds and the virus install an app "DeadlyRote". I didn't found its apk...
I think it is attached with ROM because I did the Factory Reset with removing sd card and deleting extra files manually. But it was no use.
What should I do? should I root it and change the ROM? If yes then tell me how...

I rooted it using Kingroot and uninstalled iKeyboard... I installed Clean Master and deleted many apks and ad junk.... Then I installed avast and enabled it firewall because the ads were still showing... an app named like "sysfqad" tried to get root access but I disallowed it...
now the virus tried to install "Zipt" app...
I think if I factory reset it, it will be unrooted. but the virus will be there

First of all, those antivirus apps are useless, don't waste your time on them.... Second, seeing your problem I suggest you to do a full wipe, and then flash stock firmware and root and right after rooting uninstall the malware apps, after that monitor your every step and notice everything that you do to not to run into this again..... And to get read of ads use adaway/minminguard(needs xposed framework)

Now I am having another problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/lenovo-s650-stuck-logo-flashing-rom-t3274276

Can't stop phone from contacting google

Hello everyone,
I'm using several non-root samsung devices (S8, S9, S10, S20) and I've been removing everything google related. On purpose, I've removed many features/services (NFS, GPS, etc) and I only want them to act as normal phones. I also test them to see how they behave when connected to a wifi, to see if they try to connect to a remote system. Based on my limited testing, the phones use amazon AWS to get version information for samsung updates.
Unfortunately, the S10 and S20 also constantly connect to google at
172.217.169.164:443
216.58.206.163:80
But I can't figure out which packages are to blame. So far, I've uninstalled everything related to google (framework, play store, services, apps, etc). Anyone knows how to figure out which apps are trying to communicate to google?
Thank you.
PS:
here is my blacklist, in case anyone wants to take a look:
https://gitlab.com/samcleaner/samcleaner/-/blob/master/assets/blacklist.json
I have reason to believe that the package "com.sem.factoryapp" is the one constantly accessing 172.217.x.x.
Still not sure about the other IP address, but if pointed to by a browser it comes up with google.com search page.
Hi mate , in my case I installed netguard to block the Google stuff from accessing the internet,,,
I have a question since you published this script you may have some knowledge about adb :
Can we backup a non rooted phone's settings using ADB ?
I want to backup all my settings in the settings app, and the debloated apps as well, because it's a real hassle to go all over from the start if we reset the phone.

@Maybeyou using recovery mode, you can backup user data, it backup all your apps, 2FA apps, settings, etc.. even sd card encryption key in case it's encrypted or you use the extended internal memory option using sd card on android 6
it will generate several high size files on your sd card, and you'll be able to restore you data using the restore function
next time, open your own thread though.

Of course you can backup a phone by means of ADB: this has the advantage the backup gets stored on your PC's disk space - you define the location., whereas Android's stock recovery allows you to backup the phone only to a SDHC-card inserted what must have a storage capacity of >= phone's internal storage size.

Sorry bro for asking my question here in your thread, I still don't know how to backup settings and the debloated apps :
In the non rooted Samsung with android 9 stock recovery, there's "apply update from adb" options and it says " adb sideload" when selected , but I don't know what to do from adb on PC, and another option " apply update from sd card" . Is that what you referring to by using recovery? Can you show me how to proceed please
sorry again for asking here

Thank you very much sir, I did a duckduckgo search yesterday ? but didn't found anything useful
Anyway thank you , I'm gonna try to backup right now ?
Update after backing up my non rooted Samsung by using " Adb backup -apk all -shared .....".
I had to reset my phone so I tried " adb restore backup.adb " it didn't restored my debloated version of the firmware, it only restored the apps that I did install + medias like photos and videos .
Is there any solution for that deprecated command ?

Question How can I uninstall system apps like browser, audio player, iqoo cloud etc?

I have disabled some of the system apps. But these are some which can't be disabled. Is there a way to permanently remove these system apps. Thanks.
You need root access to be able to remove system based apps

Yes. When attempting to debloat, theres a chance you might cause system related error. Make sure you do a backup as a fail-safe

Thank you so much. This works like a charm. I uninstalled few system apps and the phone is working perfectly. Next, I am gonna try the debloat option. And as I understood from your forum, the system apps can still be seen in the app list as they are not "completely" removed. Right?
Also, I selected the backup apk option while uninstalling. Where can I find these if I want to remove them?

It's ok, cuz app service is down.
I made a simple thing :

enable startup for all my apps that I need in security app, disable battery optimization.
2)

Best thing to flash global to cn, but dunno how to do it, not checked any news.

How to Bring Back Clipboard Functionality on Android 10 and Later?

Hi all,
Ever since Android 10 landed, I've been avoiding it as it stupidly took away the ability to use extremely versatile clipboard managers like Easy Copy. Instead of simply giving us a permission control for clipboard access, scroogle completely blocked access for every other app, pretending it's for privacy, meanwhile they're likely just avoiding their services being denied permission to user clipboards. /endRant
Does any clever dev out there know a way to bring back this major functionality of Clipboard Reading back to the platform with Android 10? Or simply grant an app like Easy Copy this permission via ADB?
I'd like to use the Hades ROM on my Note 8, but I simply can't stand losing access to an extremely handy app like Easy Copy; hands-down the most versatile clipboard manager on ANY platform (feel free to show me anything as versatile as it on ANY other platform)!

Hey, If you're rooted with magisk there is a real simple solution to fix this issue on Android 10+. Download the 2 modules listed below in magisk or follow steps written below from the devs github links. After installing both these modules you'll have back 100% full functionality of Android's clipboard with 3rd party apps working again as they had previously on Android 9 and prior. Should work on nearly all Android 10+ ROMs. Enjoy...
Requirement :
Must be rooted with MAGISK installed.
1. Install Riru-Core
2. Install Riru-ClipboardWhitelist
3. Reboot
4. Open Clibpboard Whitelist app and add apps to Whitelist.

That you very VERY much for shearing this @DroidFire ! I was just about to clean install the Android 9 Deluxe ROM on my Note 8, but now that I'm aware of this fix to the annoying Android 10 issue, will certainly be giving Hades ROM a shot.
Will respond with an update once I get everything installed and re-configured. Thanks again!

No problem, glad I could help. I was extremely irritated when google made the decision to go ahead with some the changes planned for android 10 knowing it would essentially cripple clipboard functionality, but luckily the dev who created the "Clipboard Whitelist" app came through with a fix. Looking forwared to hearing back with your update, hopefully all goes well and your no clipboard blues have gone away...!!
