Q: Can Facebook be deleted? Unrooted Moto G Power 2020 NA variant. - Moto G Power Questions & Answers

Unrooted Moto G Power 2020 North American variant. Considering buying this phone.
I currently have the previous version the Moto G7 Power 2019. Came with Android 9. After the Android 10 update Facebook was installed with it. There was then no way to uninstall or disable Facebook. The only reason I rooted the G7 Power was to get rid of Facebook.
So my question is on an unrooted Moto G Power 2020 North American variant can Facebook be permanently uninstalled or permanently disabled?
Thank you fellow XDAers!

Only disabled unless you root.

Does the disable survive a reboot?

It came preinstalled on mine, but I was able to completely uninstall it right out of the box on the stock ROM. I have model number xt2041-4.

Yeah so I think the Moto G Power XT 2041-4 is retail US retail device. So I should be good without FB without rooting. It just seems the older I get the harder rooting gets at least for me. I swear there was a time I could root my phone by just reading directions & not asking questions. Not anymore.
I wonder if FB will forced onto the G Power 2020 after the Android 11 update. Now I have to find one at a price I'll bite at. Somehow can't stomach the current $220 USD.

My bad. Yeah, it's possible to uninstall Facebook without root. I jumped to the conclusion that you couldn't because I'm used to phones that come with it not allowing you to uninstall without root.

Rooting is actually pretty simple on the G Power. Just copy the boot.img to your phone, patch it through magisk, copy the patched boot.img to your computer, and then install the kernel through fastboot as you usually would. I had this thing updated and rooted with magisk before I turned it on for the first time.

I tested it out myself before switching to HavocOS. Able to uninstall Facebook from the G Power. I can't comment on the G8 Power.

[Q] Emoji help for moto e 2015

I recently got a Moto E 2015, and love it as a handset, it does all I want. Except I would like to use IOS emojis rather than the lame Android ones it comes with. Especially for Facebook, Twitter etc. Is there any way of doing this on this handset? Any help gratefully received.

If you have rooted, you can use the Emoji switcher app form Play Store.
Thanks. The phone isn't rooted. How do I root it and can it harm the phone?

Rooting doesn't harm the phone, as long as you know what you're doing. To know if your phone can be rooted I need to know if your phone is a retail one. If it isn't, it can't be rooted.

I bought it off someone who bought it from a shop a couple of months ago, so that should be alright for rooting, shouldn't it? I have never tried rooting before so would need some guidance.

Lots of root threads - what's the skinny on root for the Verizon V10 with 6.0?

I bought my V10 last June and for the first time since my HTC EVO decided that I wouldn't root my phone. I have now come to the conclusion that I need root and after logging in to XDA (after almost a 1 year absence) I see that there's apparently no root for this phone.
Obviously I'm on Verizon - what are my choices for an alternative phone that is in the same class as the V10 but can be rooted? Or is a root solution for the V10 closer at hand?
Albine is almost there. Temporary root has been achieved. It should not be much longer for total root!

Yeah that was back in December...That was awhile ago man and most people can't get it to work. The only progress I've seen on root was a bunch of drama. Kinda disappointing really
I'm still hoping for a V10 root... but it looks like the V20 is rooted:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/ls997vs995h910-dirtysanta-bootloader-t3519410
What is a good choice for a V10 replacement? I really want a rooted phone.

Wonder if we could use a similar method. All we really need to do is replace Verizons bootloader with a debug one like that and we'll be golden.

Is the Verizon version locked down?
OnePlus 3t
Have you looked at this phone?
I have seen of temp root it works it doesn't work etc...
Partial root only...
Does not survive reboot etc...
But...is it enough root to use debloater to stop ota
Currently debloater does not have proper permissions or something
Does...
Temp root + debloater = no ota
Possibly or no chance
Thanks

Yes if it upgrades to 7.1.1 which they do in the store... Buy it from Google
If I had twrp port it might be easy to root.. Doesn't seem to exist.. I asked for it already on another thread, but no email.. I'm going to reach out to friend on hangouts and see if he feel like making one. He doesn't have this device so I'm not sure if he's interested.. The theory is this simple.. " fastboot boot twrp.img." once booted into twrp, we can flash twrp. Had to do it for my g4 and it works.. Also, I've seen twrp on locked bootloaders so that shouldn't be an issue.. No one's mention anything about that method though..
I think this died. Not complaining but it's been quite a few months since it was announced root was coming.
Good thing I'm rooted on 5.1.1 still. Would love to see root for Marshmallow (or greater) though.
I think Verizon and their hardware vendors should be aware that I will not buy a product or service if I can't have a rooted phone.
Looks like a Google phone next go around, much I don't want to go that route.
Sorry LG; Sorry Samsung. You won't be selling me anything.
Feel my wrath and consumer power
I believe the LG V20 is rooted (or at least unlocked)...

No. Does not appear so.
Only if u were already rooted/unlocked/ with TWRP and flashed the Update.zip stock rom already posted. Then u can flash Magisk and root works fine.
Upgrading via OTA or LG Official restore tool (Bridge) re-locks down everything as its reflashing it to pure stock.
I would assume that current means/exploits have not worked on this new version.
The V10 is largely abandoned...(cause V20 been out a while now and soon to the come the V30.
Far as I can tell, only 1 maybe 2 people working on this phone in their spare time....soo....Don't hold your breath.
If a rooted device is very important to you, other than waiting, one could buy a used V10 (or V20) that hasn't been updated off Swappa for pretty cheap. Or, sometimes folks sell already modded/rooted devices. (thats how i got both my V10's).

Which one? My local T-Mo is offering this or a Moto E 2020. This one's winning. It'll be nice if it can be rooted. Just asking cause T-Mo hasn't been root/bootloader unlock friendly with most of its phones. I saw the E guide.

Yes, this was with a T-Mobile phone. You unlock the bootloader, take boot.img from the lolinet link, patch it in Magisk, and flash through fastboot.

Depends on the features your want, but I really don't have any complaints for this device. I have a friend that prefers devices with touch sensor swiping and dt2w, so he doesn't care much for these Motorola phones.
I prefer phones with good developer support and stock Android. Makes Moto phones an excellent fit for me. If you intend to run custom roms LG might be a poor choice as you generally loose features like VoLTE and VoWiFi.

Think is I don't actually need a phone, I have a V20 and 40. But I do need internet for next month, for which I'll just get a simply prepaid for that month. (My T-Mo plan is a grandfathered from 10+ years ago that's only $20, doesn't include high speed internet) And I saw a promo that if you buy in advance 3 months you can get the G Play or a E 2020. And figured, need only 1 but 3 months of unlimited internet is also good, specially if I get an okay phone. But if I can't root it. It could be a $1k flagship and I wouldn't care. And Moto's near stock looks very apealing. V40 has Lineage but as you said would lose VoLTE.
Moto looks like phones that would allow me to tinker, I miss my old HTCs. There was so much ROM variety and customization. Now it's either OEM optimized, or all the CFW look the same, aesthetically speaking, they look so bland. Man now that our phones are more powerfull I'd like to see a Sense 3-4. Loved that layout, as heavy as it was.
Sorry went on rant there. Anyway, I'd just like if the phone can be thinker with. And can handle some light gaming like FFBE and the text be readable.

Sweet! Thanks for the info, got mine the 8. Gonna wait the week and then start thinkiering with it.
And all bands and VoLTE work well? For my V40 I am limited what to flash if I don't wanna lose B71.
Still gotta deal with Carrier Device Manager, MCM Client and Mobile Installer? I disabled as much as I could without root, remove all permisions from those and "Digital Wllbeing" and McAfee and they're still pestering me. Specially MCM on the ntifications. Can't wait to root and get rid of everything.
But if crosflashing to RETUS can get rid of some of those I'll do that first.
(Well After I SIM unlock the phone, don't wanna have to deal with returning to stock for that)

It's generally fine to (entirely) cross flash Moto phones. Only difference between carrier and RETUS is the product partition afaik, so I don't bother personally. I just use a Magisk module to clear out the nondisable folder and I can then disable whatever I don't want.

Question Is the Tmobile US version of the S23 Ultra bootloader unlockable? has anyone successfully rooted with magisk if so?

No US or Canadian version can be bootloader unlocked. Period. It has been the case for many years now. It will never change.
I have similar questions, first is worth the upgrade price? Cause I'm with the s22 ultra and the only thing that I was able to get unlocked is the network by going to t-mobile on Twitter and asking saying that I was going on vacation and would like to use a local sim card due to in Brazil i.e they use other sim card but a network unlock is not the same as a bootloader U/L
Was about to say that

coming from an S22U myself, if you trade in your S22U I would say it's worth it. If you are just going to buy it out right with no trade in, I would say not worth it. S23U is a 20-30% upgraded S22U in my opinion. S23U is a great device but don't expect to be blown away. At the end of the day your S22U will do most of the same things that the S23U will do.
Thanks, the reason I've asked is because s22 ultra in the USA is not possible to gain root due to the bootloader not being able to unlock
