Good battery and the right wattage brick?
Low V+ can cause overheating.
Looks like the GPU is thermal throttling...
What about the cooling for the GPU?
Any error messages in Event Viewer? If you got a critical or repeated errors the might help you find the cause.
Check the driver for the Graphics chipset in Device Management.
See if any updates are out for it and the CPU.
You could try a driver roll back for the Graphics chipset and/or reinstalling it.

Thanks. I've tried different drivers too. I've been testing on win7 and win10. Same thing. I took battery out completely, wondering if the charger might be the issue here ? 19V 4.7a 90W .... Maybe not enough amps , there is enough to run the system , but when everything working on full power for some reason is dropping ... I mean if the charger is partly faulty. I've seen similar issue on powered wheelchair charger , ment to be 8amps but max current while charging was only about 2amps. Brand new charger sorted problem

You could try another charger but if the battery is good it should cover it.
Again check for error messages. Don't know about 10 but W7 is basically the same as XPx64.

It looks like the temp is reaching the max with 100°C and then the Temp-Manager says " to much heat...come down...relax.
I think that is the Problem...just ask Google for max Temp of this Gpu and you will know it. But 100°C on a Laptop Gpu is very much.

A problem with battery

When I used NT unrooted, it's still battery level while unused 3-4 days, but when I root it with Indirect method and install some apps, the battery remain 60% after 2 days unused :|, I've tried some "kill process" app but it's seem didn't work . Any suggestion? Sorry because I'm newbie
Im afraid one or some apps waste your most of power
you should check it one by one yourself
once time, I got a theme of go launcher from market
but I found power droped 20%-30% per hour(just unused)
when I uninstalled it , it came back to normal
I've got a question about strange battery behavior.
This is my battery use graphic

There is no mistake, charge level raises when my NT's screen is switched off, is it a normal behavior for NT, or just an app glitch?
Can it be somehow connected with that after I plugged my NT into PC via generic microUSB cable charge level jumped from ~80% to 100% in a minute?

Most batteries will recover a portion of their apparent charge if given the opportunity to relax. {Electrons are able to move from deeper within the battery media and gather near the surface.} (There may be an algorithm issue as well, not sure.)

Thanks for the answer, but it still seems strange, I am used to self-discharging batteries, not to the opposite. Also I didn't see something like this happening with Nook Color or mobile phones.

I did have the same with Nook Color, but I still have no idea why it happens and what the consequences are.
I would try to see which app is keeping the tablet "awake" when the screen is off.
(I know you don't have CM7 installed, but if you ever do...there is a utility in CM7 spare parts in battery history that lists apps by Partial awake usage that I check to see whats keeping it awake.)

over heating issue on early model of kenzo

I am not sure if it is confirmed issue. I remembered quite a number of report of early variance of kenzo owner found the phone be quite hot even it is idle.
I am also experiencing this issue. Idle temperature easily goes up to 65 degree (pa_therm1).
I don't think it is normal for an idle phone. Another some other users having this value as low as 35 so I thought it could be hardware issue. Can anyone confirm this?

I don't know if you use any kernel tweaking apps, but the cpu sometimes tends to be stuck on performance governor.
Sent from Note 3, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
No. I did not. And I have left the phone overnight idle and just recorded 55C pa_therm1
And most time it was in deep sleep.

Your pa_therm1 is strangely low as well...
Nah thats fine..if the phone is not hot dont worry
if something is running that hot around 65c you will feel it through the metal chassis, if you phone is cold to the touch all around then I don't think there is anything to worry about, it could just be a fake unhooked up sensor, or uncalibrated even defective, as far as I know the pa_therm is related to the voltage regulator, and most often quality vregs can handle very high temps.(140~c)
My worry would be unnecessary thermal throttling that would affect performance.

man mine sometimes heats up to 41 deg celcius on 2.3 ghz oveclocked kernel but i can feel it goes warm on my hand , so if you can't tell if its heating by holding it then no need to worry.
perhaps if yours IS really heating up you should go find the cause , ie the app that goes on infinite loop of restarting its service .

Mi 9 beats against Mi 12 Pro in 2022 after stunning modification

Geekerwan releases an intresting video of hugely modifying the poor Mi 9 and the outcome is pretty hilarious.
In the clip, the team expands battery capacity to 10,800 mAh, flashes modded keneral to overclock screen and antique Snapdragon 855. By attaching a small fan directly to the protective board of the chip, the phone is easily running at the highest frequency as 2.84 Ghz after removing heat control. The Adreno 640 can hit as high as 840 Mhz in crazy, compared to the default 585 Mhz. With the help of 3D printer, the old phone has a new back cover to hold all these modifications.
The 3dmark result is surprising that the overclocked old Snapdragon 855 and his grandson Snapdragon 870 (Redmi K40) are neck and neck. The average FPS reaches 50 in Genshin Impact at high preset without overheat issue on Mi 12 Pro. What is more? The power consuption is 6.5W which is still lower than 8 Gen 1's 6.8W in power mode of Mi 12 Pro.
The best part is it only costs about CNY 1,300 (equivalent to USD 210) to achieve the goal.

is this possible to do with poco f3 sd870 ? I know it’s powerful enough but I want to try it since Ive heard that the sd870 gpu :adreno 650 is locked by Qualcomm ‘trust zone’ , is this just a problem with sd870 or all SOCs that came after it are locked ? Thank you !

I just tried modifying the customize.sh by replacing "cepheus" with raphael and modifying the service.sh to input the mAh value I intend as my 2-cell battery now seem fit. It does work now but probably might need to account for battery wear later on. Thank you very much for the link, you have been a lifesaver.

Changing the name wont do anything.. If there were no errors on the module's install, nothing changed for you!
The module I linked above is for the BM3L battery with 4000mAh or 4200mAh.
Your device Mi 9T originally uses the BP40 or BP41 which has 4000mAh.
If you installed the 4200mAh module you may now have a fire extinguisher handy when charging yer phone
Please be careful!
@techfreak9356 one question tho.. Have you modified the original battery yourself with two cells?

yes, I connected two batteries in parallel, sharing 1 protection board, just like what geekerwan did. I am still going to make three cells later on with OEM batteries since these cheap fake batteries drain pretty quickly (even when they were still individual cells).

Here is a screenshot of my battery backup. I don't play games. Just normal usage of phone.
Yet battery backup is horrible. Can someone assist me?
I think there is a defect in my unit
Have the same battery drain.
I think the problem is general we will waiting an update for that no another solution
Likewise, battery life is terrible on standby and while screen is on, Motorola need to fix asap to resolve this debacle.

8 hours SOT isn't bad
Here's mine
Was this ever fixed?
Unfortunately no, the only things I have found to help is disabling NFC and setting Suspend execution for cached apps to enabled in developer settings.
One guy on the official forums for the phone pointed out that there's missing management of the cores, so most power hungry core(s) stays active when it should be off: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/motoro...n-issue-while-Idle/m-p/5133194?page=9#5817360
Motorola hasn't appeared to acknowledged the issue, most likely the support team is out of their depth.
My two cents is if the Android 13 update doesn't help, this phone will never have good battery life. At that point it's unlikely Motorola will revisit the battery drain on this phone and actually fix the issue.
EDIT: Also important to note, the auto mode for refresh rate doesn't appear to do anything but run 120hz unconditionally, so manually setting your phone to 60hz is sometimes necessary if you know you're going to need endurance. A lot of battery is lost to stupid things like this.

Question Does mk5 overheat to an any extent?

Please share overheating related experience & issues, or lack of it you have had with newer Xperia 1 V model.
Any rigorous and real-life testing data will also be highly appreciated.
In short, does it overheat? And if so, to what extent?
Thanks

Yeah, I also watched couple of reviews but I wanted to get the info from someone who actually uses the phone daily.
Not having a overheat message displayed is a good start but by no means solves issue mk IV had, basically it was always hot, so I'm curious if mk V is really up to the task.
Thank for the link anyway

actually the issue was not in the phone itself but rather the SD Gen1 had overheating issues across all devices but in Xperia was more because Sony didn't have the best heat dissipation hardware but as for the Xperia 1 V it's another story ( they solved it)... so, my assumption is that the phone won't get the overheat message anymore and in addition to that the SD Gen2 doesn't have the same overheat issue the pervious gen has
Cooling concept is still as bad as before. SoC just doesn't draw as much....

There are phones with SD8Gen2 and WAY better results.
BUT they do claim that there is no overheating issue while filming.
Now, the good news.
First, the Xperia 1 V never became hot, warm - yes, but never uncomfortably hot.
Second, there is no display throttling; the screen refresh rate remained at 120Hz even after prolonged benchmark testing.
And third, the most important news is no more camera overheating! It was incredibly awful for a cameraphone to overheat after just 5 minutes of 4K video recording (Xperia 1 IV, we're looking at you), but that's a thing of the past. The Xperia 1 V is not even warm after shooting for 30mins in 4K, which is excellent news.
The camera overheating warnings are still there in the menus for some features, but we never experienced them, and we hope you will never do, as well.
We played a game for half an hour, too, and the Xperia 1 V was not hot and did not throttle, not obviously, at least. That's why we think most gamers and photographers alike would be happy with the improved thermals even if this was not reflected in the synthetic tests.

Any possible overheating can be reduced by either the use of a custom kernel or by aggressive tweaking of the stock Sony kernel.
you just need the phone rooted and lower the clock speed to prevent overheat.. save battery too

Underclocking and any kind of battery savings together is a myth as well as snake oil, considering that the CPU core(s) have to spend a longer time out of idle for getting the same thing done that could be done at a faster pace on a higher frequency.
Based on his testing, it seems much improved over the Xperia 1 IV
So, the above video basically answered every question I had about overheating.
I'm glad to see Sony & other relevant parties sorted out issues they had.
Now, all I need is ROOT access.
Watch it, it's really informative
