Problem with charge - Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi
Why my s10lite charge from one side ?
And the other side very slow ! But phone tell me (fast charge)
And the headphones also work from one side
What mean that software or hardware problem

fast charge is not working suddenly after latest update

Same problem here too. It works some of the time. Cable doesn't work both ways.
UsbC-Jack adaptor also works some of the time.
I thought it was a physical connector problem. Took it to Samsung and they charged me for repairing it. It worked for like 3-4 days then same problem.

My problem started yesterday, 27.07.2021. and last update was 24.07.2021.
The phone will not charge.
I have original charger and original cable. Charger/cable are working fine with other phones, so it is not cable/charger problem. I tried different chargers and cables and same thing.
At the end i managed to start charging after 100 tries and after whole night it reached 80%.
Today i tried to connect it to my laptop and it is charging normally, but only charging. So i think that the charging port on the phone is not damaged.
Laptop does not recognize it, but that is a minor problem now. I also started getting an error "the connected USB device isn`t supported" when i *disconnect* the phone from laptop.
I think that this has something to do with the last update.
I have googled samsung forums and people had similar issues but i did not see the solution. What to do ? Wait for the next update ? Charging phone via laptop is not a great solution... Any ideas? Anybody with the same problem ?

It started charging today. I did not change anything.

Try clearing the system cache... and a hard reboot.

It is ok now. It's charging normally and it can connect to pc and laptop.
Everything is ok. I did not do anything.

Meh, rule #1 if your phone is running fast, stable and fulfilling its mission... leave it be.
Updates can and do break Androids especially carrier OTA ones.

hardcoree, Welcome to XDA

I was doing that with my older Xiaomi phones. Waiting months to update. MIUI updates where/still are full of bugs. I had no problems with ONE UI till now. I hope that the mobile charging port is ok. Just now i had some charging/stopped/charging/stopped issues again.

Thanx blackhawk

Problems again. Charges only via laptop. Also i have to shut the phone down to start charging and it recognizes only one side of type c cable. Both sides are the same, that is the f point of type c cables. This is weird already

Inspect C port with bright light and magnification for damage. Clean with toothbrush and 99% isopropyl alcohol if needed.
Check for signs if battery swelling, any swelling is a failure.
Try a known good 25w brick and cable.
Try charging with phone powered off.
If it won't charge with a good brick/cable then probably a:
Battery failure
C port PCB failure
Mobo failure

Cleaned c port. Original 25w brick and cable charges two other phones in the house without problem.
Battery health seems ok. For c port i have to go to service centar. Thx mate. You don't think that can be a software problem? Everything happened after the last update.

Maybe the update. I don't do them.
Sounds more like a hardware failure.
Battery failures can happen at anytime. Erratic fast charging is a symptom.
Examine rear cover for any signs of bulging.

Yeah, sounds like hardware problem to me also. I was hoping it can be software because all i have to do then is wait for another update.
Phone charges normally (slowly via laptop) and within one hour when fast charging was working. I was using 25w charger.
There is no bulge on the battery. I had that problem on my xiaomi redmi note 4x, some years ago, so i changed the battery by myself. It was huge.

Yeah I always keep my 10+ in a case. I didn't see the bulge and was living in ignorant bliss for about month trying troubleshoot it.
What a dummkopf I felt like. I was lucky it didn't damage the display.

[Q] Not charging? :S

Hmmm, this is a weird one guys.
I can charge my X10 only if it is plugged in to the USB port via the computer. However, when it is plugged directly into the power socket, it does not charge. Now, I've tried two different chargers, and both work when charging another device (my iPod Touch).
I don't understand. The cord can't be broken, since it works when charging from my computer? Yet, the charger (the thing that plugs into the wall) can't be broken either, since another charger didn't work and also both have the ability to charge my iPod.
What's up? :S
Thanks in advance.
NOTE: Even when charging while off works on the computer, just not when it's plugged in (and I am not using a custom kernel either). I doubt the ROM matters (since it still has the above problem while charging when off), but even so, I'm using v061 of Wolfbreak's 6.1.3 ROM.
Bump bump, bump it up!
Do you use the original SE in-wall charger? If not, thats the problem, if yes I recomend to test with a different wall charger (eg. from another device)
May be the cable it faulty? Because the PC charging uses a less amount of Volts (to my knowledge) and the charging while connected to PC is very slow. Did you try with any other Official cable?
It could possibly be your cable as mine broke a few weeks back (Same Problem), I just replaced the cable now its fine
Guys :-/
Went out and bought a new cable, and still not charging from the power Only from the slower laptop USB port :'(
I think it may be the X10 itself..
I am still suffering from this problem And sometimes when it's connected to the PC and displays 'charging', it instead discharges

Maybe the connector in the phone is broken????
Yep your usb port is broken, mine did exactly the same thing. You will have to send it to fonebiz in rockdale, nsw. I just got my phone back, took 6 weeks to repair!

Rockdale? 6 weeks?! Not going that far. :-/ I can live with just charging from the PC at the moment.
Thanks though Sad news indeed
Is is still under warranty? It will eventually stop charging from the PC too. I was waiting for parts to arrive so maybe they have them in stock now. That was 6 weeks from melbourne and back.
Going through the same thing in the US. I was told repair would be 5-7 days, but I'm sure I'm looking longer. If it comes back within the time frame they gave me I will be pleasantly surprised. I hope you're still under warranty and do your self the favor and send it in or soon you will have a very expensive paper weight. Good Luck!
I went through the exaxt same thing. It stopped charging from the wall but could only charge from computer but eventually stopped charging altogether.
Did you try taking out the battery and plugging in with the original se microusb cabe to the wall. After 5 min. put the battery in. First time didnt work for me but then i took out the battery again and put it back in immediately and then it turned on.
try getting a usb-to-wall charger, and plugging your computer usb cable into wall.
Sent from my X10 TripNMiUI using XDA Premium App
Out of curiosity, how long before each of your X10's stopped charging altogether? :S
Because, for me, it's been longer than two months and throughout that time I've managed to keep charging it via the computer.
Thanks.

I've 3 usb-to- chargers here:
From a MP20 phone, generic charger that can't charge my phone and also can't charge most of other devices, output power and voltage are low.
From an old Ipaq(not ipad) it does charge my x10 for some reason takes longer than the original, it says on it 1000mA and 5V, I don't remember the real amp and voltage on it.
And the original one, always charge really fast(2 hours for a full 0 to 100% when the phone is ON)
Conclusion, buy and original charger if you not using one, which seems to be the case.
OR, update your baseband if possible, as battery issues are normally related to baseband are normally the cause of this errors.
To make sure you can always try to do a SEUS repair.

Sorry to say this, but your are wrong man.
My charger says 5.0V which is exact the same voltage as any USB ports(exception for some internal USB ports used commonly for bluetooth and other low consumption devices that use 3.0 to 3.3V).
The difference is mainly on the amount of power amp it can supply, the original usb cable + wall charger provides 700mA, while in the PC USB 2.0 ports provide 500mA, 1.0 USB provide 100mA and 1.1 I don't remember now, generic usb wall chargers say sometimes they provide 500mA but they mostly provide 30l0mA and sometimes they do not provide on 5.0V they oscillate between 4.6 to 5.2V a good usb port have to provide 4.95V to 5.1V any difference from this may even burn a phone if higher and not charge or reduce a battery life if too lower.
Everytime a battery is not charged up the end of 100% they battery life gets a bit reduce as next time even if you leave it to charge up to 100% it won't really be at 100%, this can only be seen by measuring the battery voltage after the charge, fully charge it must reach up to 4.7V
on the battery or something like this.

If the cable is too thin(like 1.0 usb cables they can't handle 500mA if connected to an already extended usb port it may not get recognized and also not even charge.
Laptops usb ports may not allow 500mA it different for every laptop, some work, some doesn't and others your have to set that on bios.

Always when connected to the PC it should say charging, if it did say discharging at some point then there was something wrong.
But charging on the pc is very slow and not good.

[Q] Phone Not Charging - Draining While Plugged In

Hey, been on these forums for a while, I rarely ask for help (been pretty lucky with the phones), but I have a question.
My phone won't charge. Or rather, it requires a time consuming process of fiddling, unplugging, replugging, and sometimes minor surgery on the USB port with a toothbrush or a tool I've crafted out of a Q-tip. However, after a night of charging (or some interrupted equivalent that results in a charged battery) the battery quickly depletes while still plugged in.
This is most clearly illustrated when yesterday, at 8:45 I rolled over and checked my phone to see if it had been charged. Pleased to see that it had been charged up to 100% I fell back asleep. When I woke up again to go to school at 9:10, my phone was entirely dead. I couldn't even get it to turn on to the point where it showed the I9100 screen. After following the time consuming and frustrating process of fiddling with the USB port and Micro USB charger, I coaxed the phone to show the powered-down charging screen, where I left it to charge to full.
I have been experiencing this over the course of a few weeks and I have tried many chargers, but only one of them will work at all (Interestingly a Motorola cord). Upon inspection of the USB port, nothing seems out of the ordinary, though the 2 prongs on the outside of the USB port male receiver look slightly different than the inside 2, though they difference is symmetrical.
Does anybody have any idea of what could be plaguing my phone? USB or battery? This is my second SII, a replacement one after my original one was tragically lost in a hot tub . Any thoughts would be awesome.
Thanks
Braidonh
If you are using Siyah kernel have you altered the charging current through EsTweeks?
If so then it is possible that the battery / charging circuit has been damaged. Try resetting the values to default (I think its 700mV on AC and misc and 600mV on USB but dont quote me).
Failing that then some hardware trouble shooting (trying a new battery / external battery charger) will help you figure out what is going on.

My signature is quite outdated... Currently just running CM 10.1 with stock everything. Haven't tweaked anything in that capacity... but will try my other battery (if I can find it). Thanks!
I was having this same problem with my HTC vivid. I tried charging with may chargers, the phone claimed it was charging (orange light lit up) but the phones battery was dying while plugged in. Just like you said, the battery depleted rather quickly when plugged in. Since my phone refused to accept any form of charge I bought an external battery charger and some extra batteries.
However, last week I wondered if maybe there was some sort of dust, or small pieces of sand inside the Micro-USB port on my in my phone that were possibly "blocking" the charger from properly charging.
So I bought an air duster and blew air into the USB port of my phone. I guess there must have been something in there because that fixed my issue and now my phone charges!
Now I have 4 batteries for my phone and an external battery charger.
Try it on your phone, see if you have the same luck I had.

Maybe I'm missing something here because you seem to be experienced on this forum and understand about searching first.
Anyway, this sounds like the common USB problem that S2s have. It can be the jack or more typically, the flex cable. You replace the little board. Search for USB in this forum. I just changed mine with one I got on Ebay. Cheap and easy.

battery drains while phone is in use while charging help

can anyone help me fix my phone. my phoine is S3 using foxhound rom 2.5 i charge my phone. use it for messaging or playing a bit but my battery drains. i doesnt happen before. its only now that my battery drains while charging... im using my AC outlet charger.
Try another charger and lead first.
Try another USB cable. Samsung cables are known to be of bad quality. If the charger + USB cable doesn't work, then most probably your charging port is not functioning. I had the same problem with my phone, gave it to the service center and the phone started charging again.
You can even try blowing air in the port. Sometimes dust gathers in there and that prevents the phone from charging.
Hope I helped.

many identical posts are already about this. standard answer is to change the cable first. :good:

Battery suddenly charging very slow

A few days ago, i noticed my battery charging speed going significantly down. This applies to fast-charge as well as normal charge.
With the app "Ampere" i measured the respective ampere input currency:
~ 400mA on fast-charge
~ 250mA on normal charge
I use the original charging equipment that came with the phone.
Problem solving measures already tried to solve the problem:
- Using a different USB-C cable for charging
- Using a different charger for charging
- Charging the phone while it is turned off
- Cleaning all the charging ports of the cable and the phone with compressed air
So far none of the mentioned measures had any postive effect on my problem. Battery life when using the phone is still as normal as before the charging issue appeared tho.
If you have any helpful tips on what the problem might be and how to solve it, i would be very happy!
Same issue with mine too... Found no solution till date.. even service center returned my handset saying they can't repair it. Felt so bad .. ?
For charging now m using OnePlus dash charger... Despite of not working fast charge, it charges my poco f1 faster than stock charger from poco f1..

Is your battery life too unaffected?
A friend of mine suggested maybe changing the USB-C circuit board might help, as to maybe the USB Port is damaged.

Nothing worked.
For now.. I am using 18 watt pd charger with USB c to USB c cable.
It is now showing turbo charging and it's charging fast.
Hope it's solution for me now..
Its malfunction of temperature sensor. While mobile above 30° c its automatically slow down charging speed to lower the temperature and prevent device from damage. Somehow take down temperature below 25°c you can fast charge your device again. But you have to keep it in that state.
Same issue on poco f1 ...suddenly charging very slowly............1> checked charger 2>update latest miui...problem persist...loosses total faith on brand

weird charging problem on Galaxy Note 20 5g SAM-N981B

Hi
It has been a few days that i have faced a weird problem with my phone.
My phone suddenly stopped charging with fast chargers and only works with super fast chargers.
When connected to any charger other than super fast charger, the charge drops instead of rising. When i connect a super fast charger, it charges fine. But sometimes gets 95% and some times gets 100%. If i reconnect the superfast charger, the phone wont even show charging. Must switch to normal charger or wireless charger and switch back to super fast charger in order for it to work.
Being on or off does not affect the results.
Wireless charging works fine.
Due to the conflicting results, I can not guess the cause of the problem.
Whether the problem is from the battery, Main board, charging socket, or software or malware, i cant figure it out.
Any suggestions?
Best I can suggest is clean your type c port with a sewing needle. These ports get trash in them everyday very easily then packed in.
The bottoms of these ports are metal not plastic. Shiny silver metal. If it's dark black or anything other. Its dirty and your cord is not being inserted all the way due to the trash compacted in. I have seen this on a regular basis and 9 out of 10 times this is the cause

Hi, did you find a resolution to this?
My Samsung Note 20 is doing the exact same thing.
It will not charge with the normal charger.. I have to first charge it a bit with the wireless charger and then with the normal charger. As of this morning, the wireless charging is also intermittent.
Thanks.

Hello
Unfortunately, I have found no solution for this. I have sent the phone to service center. Since they have not said anything yet, i guess it is not a software or even a known problem. It is definitely a serious hardware problem.
I am having the exact same issue here as well. I plug it into a normal charger and the battery continues to drain. A lightening charger is the only thing giving it juice.

Yes superfast charging is not the problem at all. Its when I plug in a normal charger, it will say its charging but it doesnt.

Well if factory resetting does not solve the problem, don't waste your time for a solution. It is a faulty hardware. Go to Samsung service center instead. The will probably replace the motherboard or the phone.
