Updated the WETAmod zip file to include other battery options, 3Minit Clock, and installing Viper4Android.

Added ***NEW*** WETAmod for BUC8 ROM.

Added ***NEW*** WETAmod for BUD3 ROM.

Hi! Great work! Got root and twrp on buc3.
I'm really interested with custom roms, since I got twrp I tried lineageos 17.1 gsi but it goes into bootloop. I tried following various instructions from everywhere in the internet but to no avail.
Recently, I saw ur conversation with secretwolf and that he claimed he was able to flash gsi roms. Since there is not much difference between 290 and 295, I think it's not too far fetched to have a custom rom flashed on the 295.
Do you have any ideas on how to go about it? Thanks!

I have been staying with Samsung roms for now. I may try LineageOS in the future. But, to answer your question, maybe try and clear the data partition

This looks amazing I have a tablet on order and wish to do this.
May I please ask, once magisk is installed is that rooted done, or do I need to activate/configure magisk to root or install a module into it please (only used supersu before so unsure of magisk).
Thank you
Alex

Just to make sure - this will ONLY work for SM-T295, correct? SM-T290 is SOL?

When you say 'this', what do you mean?
Rooting works for T290. Maybe WETA mod works. WETAmod uses the SystemUI.apk file only.

It is IP68 water-friendly device and the display is much better - higher FPS than on higher resolution OLEDs - good for action games.

Unzip the file
Run Odin from the unzipped folder
Browse by clicking AP button the *.md5 file from the unzipped folder
Connect the A320F in download mode (start the device by holding Power+Home+Volume DOWN)
After starting the device in download mode, press Volume UP one to allow the download
A new COM port should be recognized by Odin after the device is connected via USB
Press Start button in in Odin
Rooting will take place automatically and the device will restart twice.
After the first restart you can disconnect the cable from the PC.
Second restart might take a few minutes.
After that you will find the SuperSU app installed.
Other, more complicated methods:
Rooting using custom recovery:
You will need:
SM-A320F with Exynos CPU (waiting for updates on other model)
Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 on your device
Odin v3.0.4 (download link below)
Team Win Recovery Project - TWRP (download link here) or ClockWork Mod Custom Recovery - CWM (download link below)
(Recommended custom recovery: Team Win Recovery Project :good: - more features, newer, works better)
SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815 (latest ZIP version available today - download link below)
SM-A320F TWRP & CWM recovery installation procedure:
On your device enable developer options and then disable OEM lock (FRP lock) for the device to allow you to flash custom recovery
(Activate OEM unlock from developer options menu)
Boot your device in Odin downlaod mode (hold VolDOWN + Home + Power)
Flash the *.tar file of TWRP or for the CWM using Odin's PDA option
(Uncheck Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time)
Force reboot your device (hold VolDOWN + Power for 10 seconds)
SM-A320F SuperSU ZIP installation procedure:
Copy SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip on a microSD card (trough USB data cable or any other method)
Unplug the USB data cable from the phone and shut down the device
Start your device in Recovery mode (Hold VolUP + Home + Power)
(RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCED - this warning is normal when booting into CWM custom recovery but not with TWRP)
The recovery menu will appear
> Using TWRP Recovery:
Swipe to allow modifications
Tap on Install
Tap on Select Storage at the bottom and select MicroSDCard then tap OK
Browse for the SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip and tap on it to install it
Swipe to install SuperSU (confirm Flash)
> Using CWM Recovery:
Select Install zip update package (use VolDOWN/VolUP to navigate and Power to select)
Select Choose zip from sdcard
Select SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip and press Power to install Super SU
The installation will perform automatically and the device will reboot twice.
First reboot will take longer. Please be patient. After the second reboot you will have SuperSU and root.
Downsides/bugs:
Knox will be tripped the second you flash a custom recovery (Warranty void: 1 - non reversibile)
(That means that you will lose the warranty for your device and that can not be changed)
(Perhaps that's why I personally can't invest more than $300 in a Samsung cellphone ever)
You won't be able to use Knox-related functions including Secure Folder ever again
Because of a SuperSU bug you won't be able to use Smart View (Miracast, project the screen to smart TV) unless you make an edit as follows:
Lewdog45 said:
Use a file browser such as Root Browser and go to the root of your device then locate the "System" folder and find build.prop and edit it with any application that can edit it and find the bottom line, right at the edge of the bottom line you need to press enter twice and then paste this:
wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable
And then save it and reboot your device.

Format the SD card on your PC using FAT32 option (use an USB adapter).
Copy the zip on the card, Insert it into the phone and reboot into recovery to test.
Yes... that's what I did. I found the solution into Google.
Thanks anyway for your help.
Do you think that it will be possible to install TWRP instead of CWM in recovery?

Yes. You can flash twrp in cwm and reboot to recovery. Twrp will be there instead.
wich version to choose?
Sorry. There's no twrp for a320 yet, but in general it's working fine to flash new recovery with existing one.
Hey guys, I will receive my a3 2017 soon and I was wondering if it would be preferable to root it now than waiting for the update to Nougat and re-root it then... Any idea when the update will be available for this phone? I was also wondering if I should use a specific brand or type of micro sd card with this phone?
Thanks

[GUIDE] Samsung J5 2017 (SM-J530F) Rooting Oreo 8.1

After updating my J5 2017 J530F to the latest Oreo 8.1 I was having trouble getting root and all things working again.
Hours of waiting for installs then something going wrong after applying the CF-Auto-root or trying to install Magisk or something and having to install again, Hours spent waiting..
Trying to install the auto-root would cause a verification error and force a system erase but not work again.
Thought i'd found the solution with the EDOs rom but then realised I had no bluetooth and had problems with mobile data.
After many efforts i found a way by simply installing the excellent Helios PRO kernel and manually installing Magisk after.
So I offer you the way i found to root my phone with Stock Oreo 8.1
A step by step breakdown of the method I used to fully root the fresh stock rom install.
First download the needed stuff
Latest Samsung Odin software. (3.13)
https://samsungodin.com/download
Download Link:
https://samsungodin.com/download/Odin3_v3.13.1.zip
USB Drivers.

TWRP

The Helios Pro Kernel
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...velopment/kernel-refined-kernel-v1-0-t3675500
Note if you are not installing from fresh stock roms Helios kernel says...
If you have flashed Root through any means other than magisk, Please uninstall it (SuperSU>Full unroot)
Magisk , (All J5 roms kernels i installed that said they had magisk pre-installed never actually worked on my phone)
so I downloaded the files to manually install Magisk.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
I used the main zip file and the manager apk
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v18.1/Magisk-v18.1.zip
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/manager-v7.0.0/MagiskManager-v7.0.0.apk
Note: developer mode and OEM unlocking need to be enabled for most of these steps but many of the steps undo the settings so will need to be reapllied at various stages.
enable developer mode on phone by going to Settings/About phone/Software settings and keep pressing "Build Number" till developer mode activates then go back to main settings page and select "Developer Options" and make sure developer mode is enabled and USB debugging (i guess) and "OEM Unlock"
Method...
1. unpack Odin software and right click Launcher icon and select properties
Go to Compatibility settings and select Vista (service pack 2) compatibility.
Click okay and launch the Odin program.
2. Install stock ROM
Unpack the Oreo 8.1 files and use the buttons in Odin to load the BL , AP, CP and CSC files into each slot
Put phone into "Download Mode" by powering off and holding volume down - , home, and power buttons together till the screen pops up telling you to now press volume up to go to download mode.
Then plug in USB to computer.
Odin should report "Added" if you have correct samsung drivers on PC.
Then press "Start" in Odin.
Stock roms should all download to phone then it reboots.
3. Flash TWRP
Boot up phone, log into an account and get it all running then enable developer mode again.
Once set copy the Helios pro kernel zip file and the magisk zip and apk files to the phones SD card.
Now power down the phone and put it in download mode again.
Load Odin again and now put only the TWRP installer .tar file into the "AP" slot then select the "Options" tab in Odin and uncheck the auto reboot option. then hit start and flash twrp.
Load TWRP an install helios kernel
After flashing TWRP hold down the phones volume-down, home and power buttons and as soon as the screen goes blank immediately change volume down for volume up while still holding home and power.
then TWRP should load
Go to Wipe and select "Format Data" type yes to proceed , then back to wipe, select advanced wipe and wipe internal storage.
then back to TWRP main page and select "Install", select micro-sd card and point installer to the Helios Kernel zip file and install.
Install Magisk Manager app:
After booting up i still had no root so i installed the Magisk Manager apk using the "My files" app and launching it confirmed still no Magisk installed.
(I cannot recall if i had to go through the "Enable developer mode" again at this point but check if you need to or not)
Last Step, Manually Install Magisk.
Lastly I powered down the phone and held volume up, home and power key to launch TWRP
There i selected Install and installed the Magisk.zip file from SD card.
Finally the system booted, everything was working and i had root via an installed and working Magisk
Hope this helps someone..

What is sammobile saying when you go to their site?

I can intall stock oreo and twrp but when reboot logo samsung is blocked
I have problem ... So when I put twrp file into odin AP section it gives me PASS message, but problem is after doing that it deletes all files in my phones internal storage my PC shows that 10gb out of 10gb internal storage in my phone is free. twrp works fine but if I try to boot system it gives me bootloop cuz there is no OS in my phone... any Ideas how to fix or what am I doing wrong? :/

Thanks for twrp
Thank you
Flashing this @ A505GN. Hope it works
The twrp works but the multi disabler didn't work
This is a505gn
I reverted back to 3.4 because I encountered an issue. I'm stuck in bootloop, cannot access twrp nor download mode. Had to remove the back of my phone and unplug the ribbon connecting the battery to the phone just to power it off.
I already flashed the twrp via Odin but when I installed Magick on the phone this came up. Did I done something wrong?

Yes, you can update it from magisk apps
It worked!
I had to run a patched AP first for magisk to work
Im on a A505G/DS
It worked just fine on my A505FN! Thanks!
Worked perfectly on A505W !
Had to use Multidisabler 3.1 instead.
I have an A505FN and I'm not able to root it with Magisk. If I try to install the linked TWRP_v3.5.0_A505_A11_Magisk.tar with Odin, then I can't reboot into Recovery afterwards - instead the Download-Mode appears again.
With RR-TWRP_v3.4.0_A505_CUBC_OneUI.tar from another Thread, it's possible to start into TWRP after flashing it with Odin. But if I boot into System (LOS 18.1) and start the already preinstalled Magisk, Magisk updates itself and after restart of Magisk I can try to install Magisk and in the first screen "Recovery Mode" is checked. If I click on "Next step", the Option "Recovery Mode" disappears and I can choose a file to patch.
I don't know where I'm wrong.

Thank you Sharath Mane,
I followed your steps again and I was able to install Magisk successfully in the Stock-Android
In the next step, I booted in TWRP again and
- Format Data
- Fomat Dalvik, Cache, System
- flashed Unofficial LOS 18.1 as System Image
after booting into System I started Magisk and after Download and Install there is - *no Magisk installed* - only the App
Is there an additional step neccessary and I have missed it? Or is it not possible with LOS?

Galaxy A8 Star (SM-G885S/F) GSI ROM Flashing [Android 12 Working]

This is my first post of this kind so bear with me, please
Info for Galaxy A8 Star:
CPU : SDM660 ( A only, 64bit )Support Project TrebleSupport System as root
※WARNING※
You will have to have OEM unlocked and this will void your warranty!!!
※also, I'm not responsible for the accident about you bricking your device※Step. 1
First of all, you will need to download two custom recoveries (TWRP, OrangeFox)
OrangeFox: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/orange-fox-recovery-galaxy-a8-star-sm-g885f.4301055/
TWRP: https://github.com/sabpprook/android_device_samsung_astarqlte (test3 file does not work for me but you can try)
I want to finish it only using TWRP but the only TWRP that was working does NOT support flashing the system.img files
and also Orange Fox recovery has a bug that while in recovery you can't connect with the computer and push the files to the phone
so it was required to use two bootloader
Step. 2
Odin: https://odindownload.com/
I also recommend downloading the stock ROM for backup
1. after downloading the TWRP from the link (for Odin we will use the .tar file)
put your phone into download mode
Code:
adb reboot download
or just turn off the phone and press the power button, volume up, Bixby button at the same time
and use the volume button to boot into download mode
2. after the phone went to the download mode, go to Odin and at the ap section add the TWRP file then flash it
3. press the volume down, power button to turn off the device, and right after that press the power button, volume up, Bixby button at the same time
4. you will now see the TWRP recovery, press wipe, and format data
5. now we will download some files we needed
makemesar.zip: (at the attachment) or you can download it from https://drive.google.com/u/0/uc?export=download&confirm=P1-1&id=1F_f_tL4sEYFx5fa6AnwR0x1tlYhqarcT ( when you unzip it there is the zip file )Permissiver_5.zip: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=6006931924117940902Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt: https://drive.google.com/file/d/166texWJQhR1RgRoXiRSH_M2Q2mAyS2gC/viewCertification_Patch.zip: (at the attachment)Havoc Rom (you can use any rom you want but this is the one that I've managed to work) http://download.havoc-os.com/?dir=arm64-ab (download arm64 ab with gapps)most rooms with AB partition will be supportedMagisk: https://magiskmanager.com/ (download the apk and make it a zip file) - you could need for the phone to get the boot (makemesar will unroot it so don't worry)6. after downloading all the files that we need, we will push the files to our device using
Code:
adb push 'file dir' sdcard
※ also push TWRP .img file and the OrangeFox .img too!!
7. after pushing all the files we need to our phone, press install from the TWRP recovery and press flash from image
and select the Orange Fox .img as a recovery image, and reboot to bootloader
8. now you will boot to the Orange Fox recovery, (locate to data/media to find the files)
at the Orange Fox recovery wipe System, Dalvlk / ART Cache, Cache, Data
9. after wiping now install the os.img file and reboot to the bootloader (before reboot you will see the warning that OS is not installed), go to the menu and mount system, vendor, and install Dm Verity.zip, Permissiver_5.zip, makemesar.zip then reboot to the bootloader again, (now we will not see the OS is not installed) and now install the Certification Patch.zip
10. reboot to the system and you will see the new os setup process (sometimes you have to install the Certification Patch after setup the os )
10-1. if your device keeps going to download mode, reinstall the magisk and then reboot the phone, then it will work.
(after it boots, gently turns off the phone and install makemesar.zip first and install Dm-Verity to unroot) - some of you will be forced to use magisk but doing some wiping or reflashing the system.img sometimes makes the unrooted state work (or flash the stock system.img (extract from the stockrom) and flash the gsi ROM without wiping )
Screenshots: At Below
Currently, MTP does not work but I think this is the problem with the Havoc os, if you use another rom it could work
face unlock, fingerprint unlock works, the camera works.
if I manage to get other ROMs workingI will update the post
also at the first time I have made mine to boot without magisk but while doing again for this post I'm having trouble without magisk, if I found a way that works always I will add that to the post
[UPDATE#2]
you can download the Pixel 3 gsi rom from
(Thanks for Santa Duck providing this information!!!!)
with this files you can install the android 12 gsi rom in a usable state!!
and also ADB is working with this rom
there is still a bootlooping bug so do it with caution
[Update#1]
Today I have managed to install the Android Beta 3.1 [ is beta software and I don't recommend using it as your daily os]
https://sourceforge.net/projects/nippongsi/files/Pixel%20-%20Pixel4a_SBeta3.1%20-%20TBO42ZZ8IF/Pixel4a_SBeta3.1-AB-12-20210727-nippongsi.img.gz/download
you can download the ROM file from Nippon's Sourceforge
every step is the same and you just have to change the rom as this
there's a bug that developer setting crash the settings app and it is working but it does have some lots of bugs, and screen lock is not working but I'll try to fix it and upload the method
if your device get boot looped, press Bixby + power + vol down to boot into download mode and flash the stock AP file using Odin
[I was supposed to edit the upper one but accidentally created as a reply ]
Just go to UPDATE#2

Hi I'm back. Do you have any issue with wired audio? I have a A9 2018 (same chipset) and audio still goes through speaker while headphones are plugged in.
If anything in Phh Treble Settings helps you, please tell me. Or if you don't need any settings for wired audio, can you send me a zip file containing any files that have the name "audio_policy" in /vendor/etc? Thanks.
