Redmi Note 4 Nikel infinite boot loop after turning on GPS - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

So I am having weird issues with this goddamn old phone. My intention was to root it and then work from there, I flashed this ROM. It worked fine for a while, but recently I tried to use the GPS and the phone simply started a reboot cycle that never ends. I wiped the cache, reboot it... and it didn't worked. And then a even more bizarre situation happened: I wiped everything (literally, only the SD card remained intact for flashing purposes), flashed this ROM, it booted, I selected the language, wi-fi, google account, create a PIN, etc.. the usual. But then 5 minutes later, the phone started the reboot cycle again, wtf? That's it, the phone is gone? If I am fast enough to turn on the "airplane mode", the phone stops rebooting, but as soon as I toggle it off, here it comes the damn rebooting again

I'm having the exact same issue on my Nikel. Today was my third wipe to get it working. I've read somewhere (can't find the source now) that it's allegedly related to a google play update that messes up some gps-related libraries and can cause bootloops on android 6 devices. For me it started on 24th February - I woke up to the phone already in the loop. Maybe blocking the update or manual removal can fix this issue. I'll try to find more info and will post if I figure something out.
Also, it wasn't flashed or even unlocked when it happened for the first 2 times.

That's so weird... I just bought a refurbished Redmi Note 8 Pro to substitute this cursed nikel, it's a damn shame how this version is not popular, meanwhile the snapdragon variant is receiving customized android 12 roms as we type these comments, nikel is abandoned smh I will try that "fix" you linked, related to the google services... see if that can fix the infinite reboot. I assume the google maps will not work? Who knows, these bugs are just annoying

And it didn't worked, the phone entered on a bootloop again, I had to quick turn the GPS off and that stopped rebooting. Such a weird bug... the curious thing about it is how the phone was working fine with the locked bootloader, the "original" MIUI, etc After rooting the phone, I tried the few custom roms we have here on XDA and I never used the GPS that much, so I didn't noticed the bug immediately. Tried to flash the MIUI again, the GPS problem remained. I was even willing to lock the bootloader again, attempted to flash MIUI through Miflash and it didn't worked. So I am stuck with a rooted phone (that is working pretty well, all things considered) but with no GPS

Right now the phone is working fine for me, so does the GPS. However, if google services ask me whether I want to increase navigation accuracy with google location service (I don't remember the exact popup text, I'm using a Polish version), and I click agree, everything goes to hell. I've been able to avoid agreeing to google location service until now, but it tries to trap me 3-4 times a day. I just know that it will pop up right under my thumb when I'm trying to tap something else, and it will be factory reset time all over again.

Hi I am in the same boat Note 4 nikel, when I turn on GPS, bootloop is happening.
Has anyone found a solution today?

So i find this link for Redmi Note 4 in
Firmware Redmi Note 4 MTK Untuk Yang Bootloop, Restart Terus Dan Bisa Buka Gps Akurasi Tinggi, Gojek Dan google Map
Download firmware redmi note 4 mtk miui 10, nikel atau 4x ini file khusus untuk hape yang bootlop bandel dan restart terus menerus
www.joelzr.com
I've installed it using spflashtool .. It worked for high accuracy navigation .. It only in english and chineese ..
Reuploaded the file in here ..
1.99 GB folder on MEGA
6 files
mega.nz
After a successfull flash .. Install the google installer apk .. And install your desired app .. And because google play took sooooo long to download app ( maybe my network signal ) .. I download the apk manualy from browser and install them ..
Works fine on my Redmi Note 4 .. Only reboot once ( don't know what happen) and no more ..
Sorry for my english ..

Lenovo Lemon 3 - irritating problems with stock ROM

Hi!
I'm new on XDA, so I'm sorry if the thread is placed in wrong subforum - if it is, I'm asking mod to move it in more proper place.
I bought Lenovo Lemon 3 - it was advertised as Vibe K5 Plus, but apparently the seller wasn't that reliable as I thought. As far as I know, the differences beetwen these models are little or none, but I have pretty big problems with the phone.
First of all it has some preinstalled software, which isn't in Play Store and some of them I can't even find in the net. The apps I would like to get rid off are KingRoot, MaxxAudio and SecurityIT. I successfully managed to disable MiBrowser - with help of KingRoot tool Purify actually. I tried to disable SecurityIT also, but if I do that I can't enter Settings->Apps. When I try the com.android.settings is stopped and it's not working till i enable SecurityIT again.
Second of all is that process com.android.phone is stopping randomly. Sometimes I click "ok" and I it starts working again. But sometimes it keeps crashing until I restart the phone. Since it's a dual sim phone and I'm using only one sim I thought that maybe this is causing a problem, but inserting second card wouldn't work, so currently I have no idea what is causing the problem. I tried cleaning cache and appdata with no effect. If the process is crashing and somebody will call - the phone restarts itself when I try to answer.
Thirdly it's hot. Even if I'm not doing anything and all apps are off and Im charging the phone it sometimes says that it can't be charged because of too high temperature on battery. Sometimes it works fine, but sometimes it's too hot too touch and I don't know why.
Oh, and one more thing. Something is installing random software. It looks like every time I open Chrome something is opening new tab and redirecting to PlayStore. I am trying to close these tabs while they're loading, but sometimes it loads too fast. Every morning I uninstall some new app, which is apparently installed by night. And those apps aren't added to my Play Store Account. I have disabled unknown sources, but I can see that phone is checking for updates around 2 a.m - so maybe those apps are from there - but I can't see any possibility to disable auto-updates. I have disabled auto updates in Play Store and I have "Lenovo Enhanced Experience" unchecked. Most of apps I installed from Play Store are games I had on the previous phone so I am sure they're not dangerous. Any ideas to prevent the installation of this unwanted software will be appreciated.
Since I used KingRoot to disable MiBrowser I apparently rooted it, but I was reading that this works only with KingRoot installed and with internet connection. And it's sending some data to China, which is not nice. RootChecker says it's rooted.
Lenovo Launcher it's not great either, I downloaded Lollipop Launcher from store and it works fine, but I had to block Lenovo Launcher from autostart, because it was very irritating and was enabling few times.
I am living in Europe so I was thinking is it possible to put on this phone Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus Stock ROM? Or is it this "trashy" like the one I have? I really like specs of the phone and I don't wanna return it, but I don't like the software behavior. Can you tell me what I can do to improve this? I don't care about warranty and I would like to have pure, non trashy Lollipop, so if it is possible somehow I would be glad for any help.
Thank you in advance for any help!
Lenovo Lemon 3 K32C36 > Cyanogenmod 14 - 7.1.1: SUCCESS
Hi
Did not know where to post this, I was not allowed to post in developer forums:
For those unlucky enough to have bought a Lenovo Lemon 3, I offer hope. My daugther's 'Lemon' now runs cyanogenmod 14 near flawlessly.
Here's what finally did it.
1st you have to unlock the bootloader. I found this page, google translated it,
http://4pda.ru/forum/lofiversion/index.php?t717648-420.html
and near the bottom is this link to a 'one-click bootloader unlocker'
http://lenovo-forums.ru/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=56376
[All this is similar to the Lenovo unbricking described here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k5-plus/how-to/unbrick-vibe-k5-plus-qfil-qpst-method-t3467830
but a lot of that is not what you need now.]
You have to install and run QPST from this on a Windows machine, and the Lenovo and Qualcomm USB drivers and the Visual C thing too to set it up.
I fiddled for a while but eventually got QFIL to recognize the Lemon. Keep in mind Win is pickier about USB cables than Linux.
Following instructions carefully, that one click then worked!
I moved back to Linux and adb and did the second part (pasting instructions from the Win .bat file into a root terminal). Sure enough, when I booted into recovery I had TWRP! But it showed no files on the Lemon and said there was no OS there! Nevertheless I was able to boot back into the awful K32C36 system with no problem.
So I went back to adb and did it again, but this time from the info and links on this page - but I did not at that time see the need to root.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k5-plus/development/recovery-twrp-3-0-2-0-lenovo-vibe-k5-t3391100
Beyond all expectation TWRP then booted and all was visible.
I then picked this ROM page because someone had wrote that they had it working on K32C36
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k5-plus/development/unofficial-cm14-lenovo-k5-k5-plus-t3478288
to get this
http://moto.shreps.fr/Lenovo Vibe K...cm-14.x/cm-14.1-20161213-UNOFFICIAL-A6020.zip
Then onto SD card with it and pico 7.1.1 gapps
Install with TWRP (after backing up lame old ROM and wiping system, data, cache, as advised).
Long wait during 1st new system boot (I thought it was defeat) -- but comes the little blue man bringing very good Nougat.
Hope someone gets helped here .

Sensors stopped working - Help!

Hi everyone, I'm facing a severe issue with my Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon variant).
Few days ago I noticed that the screen wasn't auto-rotating anymore, but I tought it was a temporary problem of my ROM (AICP official, latest nightly), so I passed by.
Yesterday I tried to format the phone from recovery and reinstall the ROM, without luck, the rotation wasn't working.
Then I tried to reset to the fastboot ROM (MIUI 7 6.3.17) through Mi Flash, I booted, and... now EVERY sensor has stopped working. Phone doesn't rotate, in cardboard app it doesn't move, brightness does not adjust automatically, screen doesn't turn off during call when putting the phone on the ear, and the compass is not working.
Also, apps like Lux say the value is -1 everytime, apps to re-calibrate the proximity sensor crash at startup, and I have a Settings force close when I enter security options to set up my fingerprint (only in CM13, from the MIUI7 setup I can register my fingerprint)...
So, I unlocked the bootloader then I tried to install MIUI8 but, IMEI was modified and WiFi wasn't working. I installed CM13 and restored NVRAM and everything (apart from the sensors) was working.
Now I re-flashed again with Mi Flash, and I can't SETUP the phone, because WiFi and cellular data are not working, and the phone is matched with my Mi account, and won't activate without login.
How can I fix all this mess? If needed, I can also take apart the phone.
Please, everyone, this is very urgent!
Thank you all in advance, and sorry if there are errors, as I'm writing this quickly.
HELL YEAH!
Ok, everyone, nevermind.
I FIXED IT!
It was the persist image that was corrupted. My bad I tought Mi Flash would reset everything, even persist. But I wasn't right.
I looked into the "flash_all.bat" script and "flash persist" wasn't there. Thanks Xiaomi for the headache.
2 days of searching on Google and I didn't find this thread, and I don't know how this is possible.
Now I just have to understand why this happened totally random.
Everyone that has this problem, refer to the thread up here, works like a charm!
Bye!
Thanks for sharing your solution. I learned something new.
Guys i have the same problem with my Redmi Note 4 when i rooted it successfully its sesor didn't work but after unrooting it again works well. So is there is any way to root the device without sensor fail???

RN3P Kenzo - Lot of random reboots and app crashes - possible a hardware problem

Hello!
I recently bought a Snapdragon Redmi (kenzo), it came with a chinese version of MIUI and on the first setup it already started to show some problems: when I try to connect to my google account it suddently rebooted. After some tries and reboots and worked but on day by day usage I continue to have random reboots and apps crashing.
I already updated to other miui versions, CM13, CM14 and some others roms and kernels, flashed with diferent TWRP versions, in all of them I got the same problem.
I think it's also not related to hard usage, because the problem appear when I open what's app, facebook, a lot of times with swiftkey. And I can open some heavy games without problems.
Also, sometimes it reboot and get stuck on a bootloop, when this happen, a backup restore or dirty flash wont solve the bootloop and I always need to go on TWRP, do a factory reset and flash the rom again.
I think the explain it's a hardware defect...
There are any other thing I can try to solve it?
Try flashing fastboot ROM if you didnt yet

I already tried once with miui, but I can try again with other ROM. Which one do you sugest?
You can only flash MIUI fastboot ROM via MiFlash, not possible to flash other...it must be a hw problem if you encounter that on every ROM...
Try flashing the developer ROM. Or look for similar issues on MiUi forum. Those guys will surely help you out!
Hit Thanks if I Helped You!

reboots stopped (have no idea of what reason : recharge again from 5% battery, get into test mode (push 3 button for 10 sec': vol+, vol-, power).
but now other issue showed up : very lots of screen glitches, can use the phone like this, like some bad soldering inside.

Problem with WiFi, bluetooth and hotspot

Hi guys, I got a big problem with my redmi note 4x qualcomm.
Yesterday randomly wifi, bluetooth and hotspot stopped working. I can activate them but no devices is recognized and my redmi is not recognized by others, so I guess they stopped working.
I reset the miui but nothing so I installed twrp and Pixel experience but still no response from wifi, etc.
Now I was about to follow this guide ° https://forum.xda-developers.com/re.../tutorial-fix-sensors-wifi-bluetooth-t3823622 ° but i don't know if it will work for the redmi note 4 because it's suited for note 5.
Can you please help me somehow?
Sorry for my english
If you did a complete factory reset including data and you still have the problem it's probably time to talk with Xiaomi as it could be hardware. Have you tried running some of the Apps that test and / or recognize hardware in the phone? Before this problem came up did you root or install TWRP?

I'm stuck in Android 9 with my Redmi Note 4

Sorry for my english, but I need help. I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 since May 2018 and since then i had the pixel experience mod on (the one with android oreo 8.1). Everything went good until yesterday my phone resets randomly and goes in bootloop with the google logo. So, i made a backup of my things and i did a factory reset with twrp, but apparently, wifi connection, bluetooth, sim card, volume and fingerprint scanner stopped working. I restored my backup but nothing changed, i even flashed a new mod, the newer pixel experience, the one with android 9, but i just messed up everything and now twrp doesn't work anymore as if i try to open it, it gives me the error "the device has been destroyed" or something like that. Even worse, my PCs won't read my phone anymore.
Summary: I'm stuck with Android 9 in the "welcome-fase" (?) because to begin use it i must connect to internet, and i can't do it in any way.
Sorry for my english. I hope someone could help me. Thanks.
