Tricked with an Android 11 upgrade - Moto G Power Questions & Answers

I bought the XT2041-4 Unlocked Moto G a couple years ago. I mostly de-googled, never had a google account on it and never did any updates to it until yesterday. I did updates because the wifi hotspot started dropping so I ran through all the years of updates including android 11 in hopes there was a fix.
Now after completion, enabling my hotspot props a dialog to call Verizon and subscribe to use that feature. Same thing if I plug in the phone to USB and select tether. It is a provisioning block that was not there before.
I can't afford to pay them more than I already do and think I was tricked. I don't really want/need or like Android 11 anyway. I found one thread that refers to laying the old image back on which would be great if it succeeds on the unlocked version Xt2041-4. I'm not sure what to do to fix the problem and I'm looking for help on that. I've done rooting and flashing many times before, but never with this phone. Is there a hack to defeat the provisioning they installed? Does anyone have insight into this problem?

Did you ever figure things out?
I could help you figure out a way to downgrade (are you rooted and do you have your bootloader unlocked?)...
Also, you could first look into a way to use your phone as a hotspot without rooting (I've definitely done it before but I'm mostly rooted).

I can use the hotspot now after rooting and using an app to enable the hotspot. But I couldn't get Android 10 on there because the flash to put the Android 10 bootloader back on there fails. The phone is unlocked. I couldn't get past that so I just accepted it.

S4 Security

Updated my phone to 4.3 today and afterwards I got a notification about security. While viewing the details of the agreement I see that it is to enable automatic updating. I do not want this as I do not want another update. I plan on rooting this s4 as soon as one is available. Unfortunately I am having to type in my account pin every time I unlock my phone. Any way around this?
Thanks for any help.
You should have done some reading before updating... for one thing there already is a method to keep root if going to 4.3 and the Knox security "features" are pretty well known right now. There is also a security popup bug that Samsung is aware of and it's just something you have to deal with until it's patched. Since you are already on 4.3 there is a method to root but not everyone is convinced it's safe to use.

Thanks for the reply! I am aware I should have done some research. I previously had a thunderbolt that was rooted. Only so that I could use wifi tether. I use roughly 40gb a month via my wifi.. needless to say It is needed! This update blocked free wifi teather so now i will be rooting.
I will wait until It is proven safe.. or atleast thought to be by the majority of users. Thanks again.

[Q] Is there a master link to stop Verizon's forced install. of 4.3?

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note II and enjoyed it for 20 days before I saw it auto-updating and I stopped it mid-stream. Then I let it (where it still remains) in Airplane mode.
I learned since that if the update from auto-update is done, 4.3's bootloader is no longer available and it can no longer be restored to 4.1.2.
I am learning terms and procedures to the best of my novice abilities, but I am still confused on how and IF I can keep my 'download-in-progess' GNII that is still 4.1.2 at 4.1.2.
Verizon and Samsung say absolutely not as you probably know and that it would be a forced installation and factory reset now or afterwards = 4.3.
SO , my question is:
is there a master link for this procedure (and a best ROM?!)
&
Also do all procedures to accomplish my goal of not updating to 4.3 involve rooting that would void the warranty as FAQ#19 states (? Or is there a non-rooting method?
[OK moderator, be kind as this is my 1st post!]
To stop the update you need to freeze an app called SDM 1.0. You will need to be rooted to do that. I guess you need to decide what direction you want to go in. If you want to unlock and flash roms then you need to do that now, before it updates. If you don't want to do that you can update and stay stock. Just be aware that if you update to 4.3 there is no going back. You can root 4.3 but you cannot unlock the bootloader.
Thank you. I see that xda's FAQ #19 says:
"Q19: Can Verizon scan my phone to see if it is rooted?
There are security features on the VZW servers that can block rooted phones from access. Know that when calling Customer Service, they can actively search your phone and see what version of Android Software you are running."
SO: Question>>> Does it not make sense to root since Verizon might actively search phone and shut me out since I did not do their forced installation?
Perhaps the answer is at best "maybe" since there are members here for sure that have rooted this and not been cut off by Big Red Verizon?
Thank you for the reply. I will look up the info. on that 1.0 program. I will prefer being rooted when I find the proper process (here is superior than youtube vids)
but the possibility of Verizon blocking phone if they can legally makes it illogical to purse rooting, unless I am missing something.

That is false. Verizon customer service cannot scan your phone. They do not know if you are rooted. Even if they did, they are not going to cancel your service. They want your monthly payment. If all of us on here have rooted several phones and still have service, don't you think that info you found is false? And if you do believe it to be true, why worry about taking the 4.3 OTA?

If you really think that you will want to root your device eventually then now is the time to do it so you can update when you would like to. Adam Outlet has a step by step method that sounds scaryer than it is, just read throughly and you'll be fine. Good luck in which ever way you decide.

Help with Rooting, Flashing, & Unlocking Bootloader For LG Rebel LTE (L44VL)

I just bought this phone about 2wo weeks ago, & it's actually not a bad for a Tracfone. It runs on version 5.1.1. But forget specs lol. It's currently not activated, & I'm not so sure if that matters when it comes to the actual process of Rooting. I downloaded KingRoot, but I seen that before Rooting I would have to unlock the bootloader. So I followed the procedures only to stumble upon something wasn't right.. I couldn't put my phone in either fastboot, download, or recovery mode.. No matter what I did. I've tried every guide & forum, but nothing. I finally called my service provider to see if they could figure out what the problem was. They came to tell me that I wasn't going to be able to access those features until I activate the phone. (which sounds really suspicious & stupid) I noticed I can access safe mode. What sounds more suspect is that I have to pay for a plan just to activate it, which I never had to do with a phone before. Nevertheless, to sum it all up.. Is there an actual way around this craziness? I never had to go thru this much to root a phone. I honestly feel like there is no point of having an android without unleashing it's true potential. Please, any help would be great. :fingers-crossed:
I have the same phone and the same problem. Still have yet to find a way. anybody?
Looks as though Straight Talk (ST) sets it up that way. I have had other straight talk phones and have always had issues rooting their phones. In fact I have never been able to root their phones. Please someone, show us a work around solution these ST phones.
Same on net 10. Think its an lg thang...
activated my phone and have same prob...help
Funny how I have a LG Optimus Fuel that has really crappy specs and can root easily with android kitkat but this phone is lollipop and better specs and newer can't root at all. I think it is more bootloader locked and only ones that are not locked are mediocre to expensive phones from the manufacturer now. My Optimus Fuel is a Tracfone too, just like the Rebel. I doubt anyone is interested in getting this one rooted. I would not mind because when I rooted my Optimus Fuel it let me put my Micro SD Card into exfat instead of fat32, which exfat sound quality is better and boosted volume a couple db. Only thing with Optimus one is that 512mb makes the music randomly skip. So that is one reason to get the Rebel rooted but we are SOL with this device.
Straight Talk is newer than Tracfone, because Tracfone created Straight Talk. Not the other way around. Tracfone has been around the longest.

Have you tried shutting the phone off, and pressing the buttons after connecting to pc. I don't remember the exact buttons you press. I have worked on a few lg phones before and that was the only way i was able to obtain the mode i needed.
Cannot Root my LG Rebel LTE (L44VL)
I am also having problems trying to Root my my LG Rebel LTE (L44VL) too. My Backup&Restore program of choice is Titanium, but it requires that my system needs to be "Rooted" first. I couldn't find any settings to do this (even when I enter 'Developer Mode'). I've even tried several popular Rooting app tools, including RootKing and Kingo Root (Mobile Version), but they all were not able to Root my system. Please help me with this problem...thank you very much.
At the moment I really only need to backup the critical *system* files, any recommendations?
Looks like this phone is never going to get the root attention it needs. It been out about a year now since release and nothing at all. No one cares about this phone.
Have any of you tried going into developer options and turning on the oem unlock option before trying to get into download mode or anything? Just a thought guys...
As for the optimus fuel, install towelroot. open it, tap the title/symbol 3x, change the 2nd from last digit to "zero". Tap "make it rain". Should root it in literally like 3secs...

No this phone sucks without root though lol.
I've been fiddling with this phone for months, the farthest I've managed to get was a temp root, which is undone when the phone is reset. My theory is that it's possible, if done within the timeframe before the phone resets itself, whether that means pushing files through adb or shell, or flashing a custom Rom. My phone has been through a number of battles, and has seen more bricks than a brick wall..but, I'm still at it.

This phone is the same as the Optimus Zone 3, or the LG Leon, or the LG K4, however the Optimus Zone 3 seems to be its direct ancestor.
I have successfully temp rooted with kingroot 5.2.2 and oem unlock, problem is a random crash/reboot soon follows which of course flushes all the root.
We worked on this phone and the zone 3 a few years back. Never had any luck with this handset. It's another cheap undesirable that will most likely not see any development for itself any time soon.

Zenpad P008 Verizon LTE ZT581KL Rooting method?

I cannot even find any information on this device let alone a root method. Apparently from my searches methods for the zenphone may work but im not sure if I want to risk bricking this device, but verizon would just replace it anyway. I guess its fairly new? It came with MM and already has an OTA which i keep putting off while I am going to try out various methods to get this one rooted and unleashed since one verizon store essentially scammed me over my new s7 edge so another store refunded everything for me. Now I got this 4g tablet I want to fasten in my car and it would be nice to root or unlock and put some custom vehicle firmware on it or something like that.
I have the same issue with my new Zenpad 3 8.0 . KingRoot and some other rooting apps didn't work for me.
At least someone finally replies.... I am still stuck trying to root this thing. I've tried nearly everything to no success. Even the temporary cwm wouldn't work for me
Same here buddy. Why did ASUS remove such features as App to SD and multi user support?
Anyone found anything? I have the tablet too...
Well damn this sux, Verizon stuck me with another unrootable device, at least I can say I got my pixel in time to unlock the bootloader and route it but not much activity for it since decided to lock them down. I thought I learned with my G4 that's why I got the pixel got home just to find out they're going to be locked down too lol Oh God how I loath Verizon

I hear ya. I have this tablet too: Asus Verizon Zenpad Z8 ZT581KL with V.3.4.23. Despite my best efforts, the damn system update notification keeps coming up telling me to update to Android 7--which I DO NOT want to do since doing that very well could kill any small hope I have on rooting the device. Since this is a Verizon branded tablet, they made an agreement with Asus to lock it down like Gitmo, so any official bootloader unlocker will not work with Verizon. Maybe one day when Verizon get's their head out of their ass and understands that people have the right to screw with their phones, they will allow unlocking options--though I doubt it.
This would be a great little tablet, if Verizon gave us more control over it--Jesus Christ, you're still getting $$ from me on your non-unlimited data. Bunch of ****-tards---I used to work for them back in the day at one of their corporate locations in Folsom, CA. Sadly, I think it's that prison mentality (Folsom Prison) that must have been carried in the air a few miles to the Verizon offices there. That was WDTS (Wireless Data Tech Support)....I was there right when EVDO just came out/expanding (Before Iphones...closest thing would have been a BES-Enabled Blackberry, or a fancy PDA)--oh those were the days...
There are rooting options available if you understand Chinese--but even its for older software versions 3.3.x, etc, and from what I can understand, the flash might actually take (hackers take note: if the flash can take..maybe we can piece together a flash with proper rooted versions)...but since this is a Sim/LTE tablet by doing that it will screw up the radio (Cellular) and recovery partitions. But maybe something round-about could be done that does that, then reflashes modified signed firmware to root it--I dunno.
My google-fu is pretty good and I came across some cached, or snippet that said SRSroot might root 6.0.1 on the ZT581KL, but not sure now legit it is.
Unless more people get this tablet/devs play with it, I don't think we will get root/bootloader/recovery anytime soon. I wish I lived in a country that allowed multiple wifes, because I would do a bounty for root on this devices and give away one of my wives for payment.
I used the tablet mostly for navigation, but I want root/twrp for backup purposes, if I need to wipe the device crossing the border since police now wanting to look at peoples phones/tablets. I love using Waze since I'll be driving down the road with a FAT blunt smoking away, so it's good to know if cops are around.
Zenpad z8 running on Fi
I also have this pad. I bought it from Verizon because it's USB-C and I loathe micro USB and even more so because the helpful sales guy at Verizon let me try my Google Fi data only sim...and sure enough it works awesome after setting h2g2 as the apn. Would love to root it though I hate how I can only have one user account on this for now.
Kind of off-topic, but I can't find any clear answer to my question about the Z8 and Z8s. I'm considering buying one, but I do not want a data-plan. Do these tablets work without a SIM in them, or will I be stuck at a home screen that says "Insert SIM..."?

Of course you can use it without a SIM.
I just ordered this tablet. I'm sad I can't root it, but I mainly use root for adblocking. I will have to use DNS66 or BlockThis instead.

Zenpad P008 Verizon root - no luck
I just tried One Click Root and that didn't work either. Upon chatting with support they were stymied by the lack of an 'OEM Override' debug mode setting.
Can anybody help, I'm new at this stuff. Plus I'm teaching myself. I've rooted some devices. Did some firmware jobs, kinda' familiar with Odin. But I've tried everything from KingRoot PC to adb tryna' root this thing (P008). Between this thing and that Knox MDM shizzle. Man!, Anybody got anything on these topics......
Anyone try Magisk?? I also want to root this thing. Cannot get a usb gaming controller to recognize either.

Any Questions!!!! (Ask me) you'll get a response within 24 hours

I have a couple questions..
1. Is there any kind of ETA? I'm as patient as the next guy, but it's always nice to know! No worries if you don't have one though : )
2. Is there any proof of the K10 root working on the V10?
(not really a question but)
3. I know it's a very long time off, but in October of this year I will no longer be with Verizon and I'm willing to test anything around that time.

1. Sadly I have no ETA, right now I have an init and a new sepolicy. I'm able to dirtycow the sepolicy but I can't find any way to get the init across without the phone rebooting before it finishes. I need a way to like freeze the init in a way to make it available for transfer. So there's that and the other guy we are working with is gone right now and idk yet when he'll be back and ready.
2. Well, he is helping me out but he had the same issue with the init sadly. So stuck again
3. I have a question for you.. what version of Android are you on currently?
Currently running a V10 from Verizon, Android version is 6.0.
After recent updates (a few months ago) from Verizon, I noticed my call blocking software was no longer working. I had the software set to block any numbers not in my contacts.
I poked around in the phone app settings and the Android settings, all settings allowing me to block callers from mt phone had been removed.
Verizon's "solution" to be able to block up to 5 numbers free for 90 days (then you have to reblock them) simply does not meet my needs. Paying extra for their service to block numbers is just rude to me. I'd go to another carrier first.
Is there any way to get those settings back on my phone so I can block numbers from my phone again?

All those settings to block calls from verizon are a verizon thing, once it's changed it's changed. Verizon's contract with us says they technically own the phone and we are just borrowing it. So my first guess would be no you can't get that software back. I could look, depends on what you were using. My suggestion though would check out an app on the play store to see what you get. Once we get root you can probably find a good software for it.
Do you expect roms to be available including nougat roms if/when root is achieved?

Actually, I've been using contacts+ and dialer+ from the play store on my last several phones and I no longer have to back up my contacts , call log, or texts! And, it has call blocking that does have the block everything not in your contacts. It has made rooting and breaking phones hurt a little less and/or be less of a pain in the @$$. I swear I have nothing to do with them, lol. I'm just a guy who likes to fiddle with this stuff who stumbled on this app purely by trial and error. If I can make one complaint, it's different than other dialers/contacts, and I don't think it's the prettiest app, but once you fiddle with it a while, it gets better. I wish I could skin it though, lol. Sorry for rambling, I just stumbled here and had to comment.

need help here. just bought my V10 refurb unit. they said its H900 at&t unit. its on lollipop with root out of the box so i cannot use any banking app. so i try to diry flash latest H900 firmware via LGUP. phone bootup but i cannot use due to force closed app. so i clean reflash it. now it booting as normal. but i cannot setup any fingerprint as it will force closed. so i came out a solution trying to clear cache and data . phone bootup still same. then suddenly its blank. only black screen with backlit on. so pull out the battery, now phone cannot turn on. only qdloader9008. so its hardbrick. try dismantle mainboard and its turn out im getting verizon vs990 mainboard with at&t firmware in it. now had no idea how to fix it. try those SDCARD using h901 system dumb as i cannot find any vs990 system dumb to work with. no luck, cannot enter download [email protected] fastboot mode. any help will be appreciated.
p/s : now im still not sleeping since yesterday trying to figure it out and my head feel like to exploded.
My parents both have the VS990 and recently their Wi-Fi calling has stopped receiving calls- calls can still be made (outgoing) but they go straight to VM incoming. My Verizon s7e on the same plan works just fine, leading me to rule out Network and Verizon. What is left is LG and Android (since I'm on N and they're still on MM). It seems that it occurred after the recent vzm upgrade from 27a to 28a. Nobody on Reddit responded to my thread, Verizon has been 0 help (they told my parents it was a SIM issue, swapped their SIM, "tested them" without putting the phones on airplane mode and sent them on the way telling them it was fixed..... thanks guys). I can't find any documentation or bug reports of this happening to anyone else- but, I'm not sure how many ppl depend on wireless calling like we do (satellite is our only method of telecom out here- no phone lines run, no dsl, no cell service.. we're in the middle of nowhere). I've tried resetting the Advanced Calling features. I've restarted the phones. I haven't done a factory reset.
A) Anything I've missed?
B) I found an img for 27a on here, is LGUP a feasible means still of downgrading/rolling-back?
Nothing going on
So my v10 wont charge, wont turn on, there's no charging notification light or anything. the only thing that gives me hope is that when I plug it into my laptop, my computer detects it because I can hear the sound. I cant get it into any of the modes, download..recovery..ect. any suggestions?
Hey could you please help me figure out something. I have an LG V10 H901 (purchased from China) its supposedly the T-Mobile version but was manufactured in Korea. Its WIFI and bluetooth weren't working so I tried to update its firmware using LGUP. However, after the update it was hardbricked. I have managed to get to the LG logo using H90021w Unbrick Qfil files. Afterwards I tried to flash stock firmware H90130d_00_0611 using lgup. However, I got a message about partition changes and hardbrick once again. I have also tried KDZ files related to F600L, h90021w and many others. Can you please suggest based on my details:
-Correct QFIL files
-Correct Firmware or KDZ
Phone Details:
IMEI:354017070602111
Model:LGH901BK
Suffix:ATMOOP

Software Verison:H90130D_00
OS Version:N
File Name:H90130d_00_0611.kdz
KDZ File size:1975399272

So my Lgv10. Doesn't show that its charging, doesn't turn on, doesn't do anything at all. It does however connect to the computer in the whole qualcomm hs-usb qdloader9008 mode thing. ive been doing the qfil thing because that seems to be the only thing that detects my phone but nothing is working. are there any other options? oh it says its the lgh900. but the motherboard is the vs990. does that make a difference? I have files for both
Been a while since I've touched a LG device but i'll respond to everyone tonight.

I would update to the latest version. and I would factory data reset. I would also say that wifi calling is brutal and something that I wouldn't use all that much personally. any more questions you can ask
