Question Android 11 Firmware? - Sony Xperia Pro-I

Does anyone have the android 11 firmware that can be flashed? Or is it possible to extract from a phone that is still on the old firmware? Mine is on android 12 now and I can't go back.(XQ-BE62)

I think you could have made your own custom FTF file using xperifirm. But now you may need to use someone elses file. I m still on 11, US version, was wondering why you wish to downgrade. Aside from personal opinions about UI looks, anything go terribly wrong, like abysmal battery life or spectacular crashes?

Unfortunately xperifirm doesn't let you download old firmware, so now that the android 12 firmware is out I can't get the 11 version. I have ended up just returning the phone since I was still within the return period, once I get the refund, I'm going to buy another new one which should still have android 11 on it.
To answer your other question, no android 12 didn't have any major issues as far as I could see. I even rooted it and installed exposed (unfortunately no gravity box for 12 yet though) and it was working fine. The only bug I noticed was with scrolling, sometimes the page or list would have no momentum and sometimes it would be completely normal.

If everything was ok, why do you want the phone running android 11? I am reading as much as i can before installing android 11, but sadly there isnt much out there to help me decide. For now i m holding off.

I just hate the ui. If you have a pixel that you can put 12 on you can preview it that way, otherwise you could try emulating it in android studio. Make sure to do a nandroid backup before updating though if you do decide to.

I see, i do have a p6p and find the UI tolerable. I havent updated the pro I to 12 mainly because i fear that battery life could be worse (it is bad on 11 already, it drains a solid 17% overnight), or that it would not feel as responsive (fast) after the update.

Stock or Custome Rom? Plz Help?

Hi guys, kindly take my post serious, and give me honest opinions, let me explain my situation.
Like many of you, I have LG G2, International 802, i am confused whether to flash 4.4 Custom ROM (CM11 seems to be only relaible choice) or stay at stock 4.2.2 because phone is just a phone and all Apps work anyway.
Unlike most of you, i am from Pakistan, i purchased G2 brand new in Black, because its not launched officially here, which means i am under no warranty or unroot problems to get repairs etc. from company, so losing warranty is not an issue for me.
I am confused, whether to root, flash CM 11 or stay on stock and wait for official 4.4. I know even official 4.4 will look same as 4.2.2. Stock android look like Nexus is my preference, i like it, but reading so many people having troubles with custom ROMSs, and the difficulty, makes me confused, either to stay as it is, or make a move and flash CM11.
My past experience of flashing ROMs, was when i had back up Xperia 10 mini, i use to flash CM9 on it easily and use to go back on stock as well, which android 2.1 for it.
Guys kindly with your experience, should i go for flashing, install CWM recovery, official semi touch one and flash CM11 in normal way, or should i stay satisfied as i am today? will flashing CM11 and its bugs going to ruin my daily use?
Also tell me, i read intensively how to come back to stock, but many people having trouble in that as well?
Should i make a move or should i sit idle? I know many users like me, must confused like me, your help can be fruitful for us?
I'd say go for cleanrom or rayglobe and find some mods for stock lots of things you can do with xposed
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I miss only one thing on LG rom, stock aosp notification center

Thanks for your kind reply, being less familiar with ROMs, i assume that CM11 is the best and relatively more professional then most other ROM developers, i feel there product have more chance of being less buggy, thats what i assume, since going closer to stock android is my goal, not the tweaks as yet, in hate i hate processor option in CM11, why a user need to mess with clocking. I can be wrong here, frequent ROM user must know better which ROMS are more stable.
Xposed, i think i can use that with stock LG ROM as well, well i don't want to change menu bar and notification bar because i read in xposed forums, lots of people are having not to smooth time with it, it must be ok but i am ok without it, smaller bar or normal bar. Only thing i dont like about LG stock menu bar is, no multitasking key.
So you suggest me, to dive into a custom rom and you prefer a clean ROM for me.

I miss look and feel of stock android, stock is LG is sort of rip off, of Touch Wiz, i don't need air gestures, i need smoothness, fluidness, i like dark colours of stock pull down bar, and other things of my friends Galaxy Nexus.
The first thing I did after verifying the G2 I received was a keeper (first one was a dud) was install a different rom. I went though several 4.3 roms and even tried some of the 4.4 roms that came out but in the end as of right now I running a lite version of the stock rom (Malladus). I didn't think I would ever run stock but I found a lot of the features I enjoyed with custom roms I was able to get by using Xposed and stock seemed to be more stable and I really wanted a fully functional camera. Even though there are still a few things about the stock rom I don't like, they are very minor and i can live with them.

Well, thanks for the reply, i know stock has features, most i don't use, incredibly i don't knock on either, as i got use to of buttons, yeah, call and sms blocker, i hope CM11 may have them, i want to change for the look and feel of Stock android, and hopefully fluidness, as far as features are concerned, LG stock must have them all covered?
So you have reverted back to LG stock rom, lite version, then why not the official stock rom? HMM.

I mainly went with a lite stock rom for the debloat. I did run official stock and just disable things that I didn't want running but even after that there were a few things I couldn't disable plus I don't care for a lot of the LG apps. Malladus has a base that is debloated with most of the LG apps but also provides a LG App package that you can flash afterwards for those that want the LG Apps.. seemed like the best of both worlds. I will admit I did manually install a few of the left out LG apps like the Remote and Quick Memo.
OP this is solely on you, only you can figure out what will be your daily driver/ROM. With so many variables involved with Members, apps/usage so on....you have to just flash and test. Just because one has the same device does not mean you will have the same outcome or results.

Merry Christmas.

[Q] help, need stability in KitKat 4.4.2

I have a Dell Venue 7 3730 with a stock ROM 4.4.2. I hate it, its so unstable. And desperately looking for a custom ROM to replace it. I don't care about warranty as its second had already and I have rooted it.n apps crash all the time, Facebook, gmail, camera, etc... All of then crash almost all the time and is unpredictable. Other apps refuse to even run at all, crashing instantly on loading. The system ui constantly crashes and yes I do get random reboots from time to time.
Any suggestions on a good lite ROM? Or anyway to stabilize this stock?

There are no custom roms that I know of for these tablets, there are 3 different stock roms, 4.2.2, 4.3, 4.4.2, My tablet is 3830, which is basically a larger version of your tablet, I use both 4.3 and 4.4.2 stock roms, they both work well for me.

I wonder what is going wrong then, I had issues with this even before I rooted it. Just won't keep apps alive especially Facebook, constantly crashes all the time.
My Venue 8 is on 4.4 and my screen just blacks out for absolutely no reason in the middle of using it. I'm considering contacting Dell for a replacement. I have already factory wiped it twice but still happens. Not going to rely on root and custom roms to fix it in case it's not a software issue.

No ideal I currently dual boot 4.4.2 and 4.3, so I can easily switch between OS, both OS work great for me, no problems with any apps, I really don't know what is wrong with your tablet, or if downgrading will help you or not.

Any idea how we can track down the problem? I am well versed in Linux OS, and I know Linux should like to log everything, so how do we track this issue and come up with a solution? I've looked at logcat but I don't make much sense of it, if only I knew what I was looking for... Sorry android development is still some what new, though I have been a sole Linux user for decades now. Any help is much appreciated. Looking at the forums, I am not the only person it seems...
Thanks,
Todd, E.T.
If it was me, I would download SDC's 4.4.2 system.img unpack it, pull the system from my tablet, diff -r and see if they are different I suspect they are different.
Ideally you would want a system image pulled from a tablet that has no problems, then compare with yours, then naturally install the good system dump on your tablet.

So what do people think of the new Android 11 update?

I've been running it for the past few days, and its working well. Not ran into any issues with it.
I like that the timer within the clock lets you type in the same way that the google clock does, you can type 3000 to get a 30 min timer, before it only let you type in the minutes or seconds boxes individually.
AOD is a welcone addition, been waiting for it since it was announced, I've not noticed much of a difference to battery life, I can still get to the end of the day with about 40-50% remaining.
I like the android 11 feature where media players are now in the quick toggle area.
I did notice things looked a bit bigger, so I changed my DPI setting to 400 in developer settings and that seems better than before, its not quite the same sizing as on 10.
Looks like the small visual bug for the icons on recents is also fixed
What do people think of it?
to me with os11, it's laggier and less responsive in general. Don't like it very much, with os10 the device was much better. Did you do a clean flash or installed it over os10?

Same, laggier than the previous OS 10, i did a clean flash for the stable update, its a bit better than open beta 3 but honestly, not enough, i would like to think that they will improve the user experience in further updates, but i dont know, not too much confidence in OnePlus from my part.
can't confirm, for me the device is as fluid as always, didn'T factory reset or similar
I simply deactivated many many many bloat apps, that's all

I just used Oxygen updater to get the update quicker, and then just did the upgrade via the regular system update method.
I was considering doing a clean flash, as its jumping up an android version, but I was lazy
Which parts seem laggy to you? I havent really noticed any slow downs, I mainly just noticed that text seems bigger, so tweaking DPI seems to have done the trick.

people never say how many apps they have installed and how many are running in the background, but expect a mid range phone to be as excellent as a flagship

I just expect that an update that theoretically should improve the performance and general quality of my device doesn't produce the opposite effect. My installed apps are exactly the same I had in Os10 because I didn't do a clean flash since I installed it with oxygen updater.

havent found any bugs yet

Unfortunately not, usually Android upgrades (especially with the manufacturer made modifications to UI, system, etc) use up even more resources than in the previous version, so at some point our phones will not be able to handle a stock version of a future Android version. At least LOS etc will help getting us upgrades once OP Nord won't be supported anymore

I just think this happens because of lack of optimization rather than a lack of resources. I mean OP nord with its CPU and 8gb of ram should be perfectly capable of handling android 11 as fine as android 10. I'm not saying the device is useless now, just it's not responsive and fluid as it was with the previous version, and it's a pity
Just want more aod customization and god damn weather in aod and lockscreen.
Everything seems okay on android 11 update But why is the security patch still at January 2021? Updated to new os but still same security patch from android 10
For me the reboot after update did not work. The phone got stuck on the home screen. The next reboot just heated up the phone a lot. Now need to see how it performs during daily use.
the only thing that gets me is that it seems to disable auto-rotate screen on a daily basis
Haven't noticed any performance differences between 10 vs 11. I've never done any factory resets from new. Only debloated all apps i never use. Overall pleased with the Nord.
I just flashed the latest hotfix and must say the system got more snappy overall. Really like it
Within a few days of updating, around 1/3 of my apps would just force close upon opening them. The affected apps worked after reinstalling but as soon as i closed the app it went back to the same problem.
Ended up going back to LOS.
*Edit* Nope that was just Google breaking Webview.

Note 8 Android 11?

Hey! Asking for advice. I am curious and interested to install Lineage OS based Android 11 (Custom ROM) but wanted to ask around if anyone has already tried it and how is it or could anyone tell beforehand is it even worth the time and effort? Other suggestions about the device? (Not *buy a newer one* please). Been using it for long time overall and it is in great shape, battery is excellent still. It is great device and I would love to use it until end yet somehow afraid of having outdated Android and falling behind for app updates because of it. Also read on the internet so not 100% sure but got information that Samsung officially will stop sending updates to Note 8 this year October...

gotcha. well, theres pros and cons if youre not willing to spend the time reading threads and installing the magisk mods needed to hide root (which is the biggest issue IMO these days). Other than that, its just like it was back in the day but the ROMs are more stable from what ive read. I havent rooted my last 2 sammys but might start doing so again. Longer battery life, more customization stuff. Just need to hide root for some apps to work

Question Daily driver custom ROMs?

Hi, I'm interested in picking up a BC62 but are any of the currently available ROMs stable enough for daily driving?
I'm still living in the last decade and prefer the fully custom experience, but I suppose just getting root and bootloader unlock may be sufficient nowadays...
Apologies if this question is an easy one or frequently asked, I couldn't find much.
as you see, there is no supported custom roms for this device. You can try GSI roms.
unfortunately price too high and community not enough for devs
Well technically there's one custom ROM...but idk if it's still gonna be supported...i may try to build some now that the guides are up tho
I see there are a few abandoned ones under development but there's little talk about living with them. Guess nobody really does, ha.
Circumstances are just pushing me to switch carriers (and therefore phones) and it's hard to part with the custom ROM life. At least Sony OEM software is decent and root/unlock is actually supported.
I look forward your future projects, @Ainz_Ooal_Gown !

And how it works?
i just tried GSI a12 rom and camera didn`t work, ambient display didn`t work, autobrightness didn`t work. Back to stock
I used the Lineage ROM that's here ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-11-unofficial-lineageos-18-1-for-xperia-1-iii.4431701 ) for a few months. Unfortunately it comes with an outdated VideoPro app that can't be updated due to missing libraries (Theoretically you can if you mod a newer APK, but I'm not very experienced in coding and wasn't able to make it work). Also this meant Sony-specific apps like 3D creator, etc... won't install or update without modding them.
The only other problem I noticed was 5G NSA didn't work, just LTE with carrier aggregation at best. This wasn't a big problem personally since 5G NSA isn't reaaaallly an improvement all else being equal.
There were a couple other bugs / differences. The assistant button wouldn't function even with the Xperia+ app, and using the camera button to open the camera app behaved differently in a way that I didn't like. Probably a couple smaller things I'm forgetting about that I just lived with without issue.
Not being able to update or install Sony-specific apps was the deal breaker eventually. If I knew how to mod APK's to install/update them, I'd still be on that ROM today. It was actually really good. My battery life was noticeably better (probably mostly due to lack of 5G), I had no stability issues, the ROM was light and fast and I got all the customization that comes with Lineage out of the box.
i get it why there arent custom roms. what i dont get why arent any debloated stock rom either. sony does not have bloatware ?

Because there's no value in doing this.
Just get a root uninstaller and yeet the bloat.
As someone who tried a lot of roms, just don't. They all have serious demerits that are just not worth it.
Honestly it's quite jarring coming from Xiaomi/Samsung where custom roms are extensive are necessary or a worthwhile alternative respectively. I hoped we wouldn't need the size of community for this phone as everything is supposedly open source (or provided), but experience tells us otherwise. The phone is just too expensive -> phone doesn't go to eastern (read: eastern-europe and SE asia) developers and development just never takes off.
