Question The display does not turn off during a call - Asus Zenfone 9

The display does not turn off during a call, even when I have turned on "Turn on proximity sensor" in the settings
The display doesn't respond, so it's fine, the display just won't turn off.

Does it work for you?

I peeled off the "Tempered Glass Protector for ASUS ZF9" glass and everything works.

Same problem, some time during the call the screen is not turning off

there is a discussion about that on reddit

Its the same for me on A13. I had flashbacks with the broken proximity sensor on the Xperia 5 II and III I owned before, but it doesn't seem to be faulty sensor on the ZF. The sensor works and it ignores input touches when you put your hand over the earpiece, it just doesn't turn off the screen as it should. Just software bug, could be fixed.

Its not in the system settings, its in the phone app settings. It doesn't make a difference turning it on or off tho.

Sorry, it's been a while.
I no longer had the strength to solve so many bugs on ZF9.
Buy a Samsung S23

Sound Modes

Ok a bit of a embarrassing question
What do all the sound modes mean in settings? I can set my phone to vibrate on silent when a message comes in but cannot get it to vibrate when a call comes in?
Ringtone has gone of when sitting in work and get a few stares
Which setting should I have it on so that it can vibrate in Silent mode when a call comes in and also when a text is received?
Have it set to Sound/Vibrate/Silent but does not vibrate when call comes in?
Have installed app that vibrates when I have an unread message is there one that vibrates phone for missed calls?
Thanks
Have you tried turning the volume key on the phone down (up and down keys on top left of phone) should vibrate then

From the photo you have posted I think it should be the bottom setting. The one which says sound/silent. That means the bottom menu is giving you two options : one for sound on only and the other for vibrate only. Try it and let us know. Also when you pull the bar down in your home screen the vibrate option is there next to auto rotate. Problem should be sorted I hope. Peace

Speakerphone-like always on status bar

Hello everyone. I have a problem that started a couple days ago.
On the status bar it s an icon that looks like speakerphone is on, and it s there always.
I searched a bit, but I do not have the "speakerphone issue, meaning that when I answer a call, all goes normally. Also when I activate the speakerphone during in call , 2 icons appear and they are slightly different.
The only way it goes away it's when I enter the call settings, but it reappeares seconds later.
Here are some screenshots.

Looks like you have WiFi calling enabled, disable Wifi and tell me does it disappear? Its weird as you don't have all the WiFi calling symbols.

Why my redmi note 3 pro powers on display even without touching the power button?

Sometimes the display opens itself when I touch it without touching at all the power button!!
Do you think it's a sw issue? I'm on 6.9.29 beta (I have the kate international version).
It's a very annoying problem because it happens very often when I put it in my pocket.

Umh I don't think there is something like this in stock MIUI, right?
I have not installed third part apps with wake gestures.

Disable wake screen on notifications from Settings > System and Device > Lock Screen and Fingerprint
This is a MIUI feature.

Disable Notification LED?

Hi all!
nearly every Custom ROM for the Moto Z has this wannabe notification LED enabled. The Problem is that it ****s up my light-sensor, so Auto brightness wont work if you are charging your phone for example -> the LED lights onto the light sensor -> light sensor "thinks" you are in a very bright Environment -> highest Display brightness at night.
Is there a way to disable it?

I have the same looking notification light and the same problem that effs up the auto brightness.. total design flaw.. or a weird factory problem
I installed LineageOS 14.1 and had no problem to turn off notification lights, you just go here:
Settings>Notifications>Settings Gear (up right)
You can see Battery light and Notification light, and you can turn them off completely

Have you got DC dimming on, if so try turning it off.
That definitely doesn't look like what dc dimming would do, and in fact, it looks like a software issue, since the status bar is completely fine. It looks to me that some screen filtering app is effecting the screen's contrast. It might be misbehaving (doesn't turn off when it's supposed to), or installed and set up by another person other than the OP. Try finding in app drawer/home screen apps with titles including "blue light filter" "night" or "dimmer," then uninstall it (we already got that night mode toggle in our device settings, which is 1000 times better than these apps that screw up contrast, so we definitely won't need any kind of blue light filter app).
Try booting in safe mode and see if the issue persist:
- Shutdown your device
- Boot it by holding the power button and the volume up button
This should disable all filtering services etc. that could change the screen colour. If it doesn't fix the issue, a factory reset would be a good choice. If that doesn't help, it probably is a hardware defect.
