Question Is is still the General Consensus that the official Samsung Screen protector is still the only way to fly in regards to Fingerprint sensor? - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Howdy folks. I tried the whitedome on the s20ultra. it was thick with all the glue. the fingerprinter sensor sucked with it on. and it wasnt even durable..
Is the official samsung screenprotector the way to go or?

That general consensus is true, to the best of my understanding and experience.

Nope I've used whitestone dome since the s20. It's never failed me. I rarely get fingerprint rejections. I also had the s21 and s22 ultra.. No issues with it whatsoever.
You might have applied it improperly.

Agree with the above. Used Whitestone with Note 10+ and S21U and satisfied with fingerprint response.
Very durable and best coverage while S Pen rides it nicely.
It helps to register the same fingerprint twice under different entries.

I use cheap Chinese uv glue screen protectors without fingerprint because it is a tradeoff but I'd prefer glass protector over plastic ones.

Any screen protector that is not glass should work well

I use SBS foil from mediamarket and fingerprint sensor work without issue.

I got a Ringke Dual Easy Wing and no issue with touch it with the fingerprint sensor. Quite snappy actually.

I had a miserable experience trying to install the Samsung one. Wish they factory installed it.

Really? Is it that hard?
Pretty confused whether to get one and try myself ..

I generally use the non-glass matte protectors on my phones and they tend to work fine. Whenever I hand my 10 year old my phone when I upgrade every 6 months I put on the whitestone glass ones and they seem to work just fine with the fingerprint. Generally don't notice any issues at all.

Got a simple hydrogel protector from my x70 Pro+ which KINDA fits and there are no issues here. Waiting for proper protectors from Aliexpress - I sure as hell wont spend 20€ for a piece of thin plastic.

I bought a cheap £1.69 film screen protector on eBay and my fingerprint sensor works every bit as well now as I'd did with no protector fitted. Don't waste your money on Samsung's expensive film
My own personal experience is cheap tempered glass screen protectors don't work well if at all on ultrasonic fingerprint sensors as used in the S range over the years but do work fine on optical sensors used in the A range. Just my $0.10 view

S9 Plus Back Glass Oleophobic Coating Issue

Hi everyone,
One week ago i bought a S9+ coral blue. Everything is perfect execpt the oleophobic coating in back,
The back of the phone got greasy all filled with fingerprint smudges within 1 minute of usage. Its very unconfortable to hold.
It maked me start to feel that i got a defective unit, what do you think ? Is it same at your phones ?
samsung phones are like this and have been for years fingerprint magnets....

That's glass for you. Get a case to protect your shiny new fingerprint magnet lol
It’s not a defect. That’s the way glass-backed phones are. The oleophobic coating only reduces the fingerprints, it doesn’t make it fingerprint free. Get a case or skin from D-Brand.

Same problem
Hi Ragon,
I have the newly released Galaxy S9 and it seems that on the back glass there is no oleophobic coating. This comes as a very unpleasant surprise, since I also own a Galaxy A5 2016 and that one has oleophobic coating on both front and back glass. This seems to me as a manufacture defect. Unless Samsung thought that, with oleophobic coating on the back, the phone will be much more slippery than without.
Have a nice day.
Are the coatings different on the front and the back? The front glass is with far less fingerprint and smudges.

Well, I guess you have your answer then: go back and have it replaced. It's possible yours has a manufacturing defect. There's nothing to do but have it replaced.

Question Which screen protector (not glass)!

What are the best screen protection (films not hard glass).
I tried samsung ones, but impossible to install easily: dust everywhere, hard to place alone...
Keep the factory one until it wears out.
I been using Gorilla IQ Sheild for over 3 years on my N10+. Wet apply so that placement is fairly easy, inexpensive, long lived and holds up to spen use (self healing). Fairly good feel but not as good as the Samsung one when new (the Samsung's surface coating eventually wears out).
It's sucked up some nasty scrapes with no damage to the display; provides limited impact protection and excellent scratch protection.
A Zizo Bolt case provides the primary display protection. Without this the N10+ would be damaged or destroyed by the first year. These are heavy phones that love to corner hit and face plant.
Zagg do some fab 1s. I get 1 each year and never had a blemish on my screen

Your Note 10+ was about the last with factory SP. No one on S23U
Usually I use Whitestone Dome Glass, but they were not yet available (in NL)
I now used Dome UV Gen Film, designed by Whitestone. Is film but with uv-curing glue. Perfect fit around egdes, easy install and works nice with S Pen.
Together with Sammy's Smart View Wallet Case, I feel my new toy is well protection.
2 pc for 32 euro.
I'll see how long they hold and if I will switch to Dome Glass this time.

Here also, though do it at a mall kiosk because my house isn't a clean room (animals bad) and they have a curing caddy er whatever to properly bond it (no bubbles then lifting edges). As expensive as online but replacements are cheap, "lifetime" (whatever that means).

No chance thay I would pay 30gbp for 2 pieces.
I am going with tauri or egv, 2/3 screen protectors for about 10gbp, should last year easily
I've ordered a RIngke Dual Easy Film 'Wing' protector. It wraps around the sides of the phone so that the edges shouldn't lift. Thought it looked like an interesting design, so will give it a go when the phone arrives. Got the Onyx case to go with it too for now.

Question UV glass screen protectors and am I best taking Samsung's screen protector off?

Hi, I am getting the S23 ultra soon and was wondering, am I best leaving Samsung's film screen protector on, or will this not really offer much protection?
Am I best taking this off and putting my own?
I was looking at these UV glass ones, which I don't really have experience with, they are all a little on the dear side in comparison to the glass ones that are ready to stick.
I tend to prefer glass as it feels like more protection and touch / fingerprint still works fine and also tends not to suffer air bubbles as much.
Regards
James
You dont get a screen protector on it when it arrives
After years of using the UV product you mentioned (whitestone dome) I settled on the practical plastic films. These are very cheap, you can get 2 or 3 at just $10, they avoid scratching mainly and the feel is not as good BUT cleaning up the screen after removing the protective UV glass is a nightmare, replacements cost $40 to $60 in case it breaks or dents. The plastic film doesn't really dent and it's much thinner and as far as my experience goes most cases are compatible with the plastic one, in contrast with the UV glass. Furthermore, the installation of the glass is not "for everyone", I am used to do precision work with my hands and the installation process is not something I would recommend to an inexperienced person: some glue is going to get outside while curing the screen with the UV lamp and it can infiltrate in your mic holes or in the small gap between the display and the frame. Last but not least, if you want to use the phone without a case with the glass you get a noticeable step on all 4 sides which is very uncomfortable especially if you use gestures. If you want to give it a try, is something you can live with and it has for sure benefits as far as feeling and protection. On the other hand, all the above issues remain. Sorry for the bad grammar and punctuation, I'm in a hurry. I hope my comment helps you decide for the best!

I swear by these whitestone dome protectors. The newest versions (I have one on my S23U) come with stickers to seal the buttons and edges when you install so you don't get any glue in the buttons.
If one watches the video, the installation process is relatively fool proof. I've not yet had a bad installation and the glass has saved my phone more than once.
Fingerprint sensor sensitivity is reduced somewhat but still functions perfectly.
IMHO, these are far and away the best protectors and I'd not use any other.
Getting on my high horse here to ***** about the hypocrisy around "saving the planet" by not providing a screen protector....it's all virtues signaling and real cheap ass practice.
Look what resulted from buying a screen protector from Scamazon (add gas burned, electricity, etc ) to see the "savings"

I completely agree that as far as protection Whitestone Dome is the best you can get - but that was not in question.
I also agree that the procedure is pretty straightforward but you would be amazed knowing how MOST people can screw up easy things. Not everyone has decent manuality: people actually pay to get cheap screen protectors installed by some "specialized tecnician". I am someone who fixes its stuff to the point of soldering components, just for curiosity and because I enjoy it, but most people don't want to deal even with screen protectors

I'm also thinking if I want to have the TMax UV Dome installed on my S23 Plus but I'm reading mixed reactions with using UV Dome. I won't install it myself so that's out of the question. But that screen protector also covers the front camera which sucks and I don't know how good/bad it is. I know it's from China but so is Whitedome.
Some experienced users told me to use a TPU film instead, like the ArmorSuit wet install film. The display of the S23 is very good and it just needs a simple TPU screen protector to protect it from unavoidable scratches. Is the difference in feeling between a TPU and tempered glass protector that significant? What else made you suggest using TPU instead of glass?

If using the plus, it has a flat screen and UV glass isn't necessarily needed. The UV glass really excels in the curved screen market where most of the glass screens only have glue in the corners or have other issue towards the edges. The liquid glue allowed for better flash adherence to the screen. For the plus I would just get highly rated 9h tempered glass.

I see. But how about the problem with the fingerprint sensor? I see a lot of people having issues when using a tempered glass protector with their Samsung fingerprint sensors. And that's why most of them say that a TPU film is enough.
Thanks for everyone's replies, after a lot of fear, hassle, and a bit of a loss of money I decided on a film protector which is working 100% fine.
Not sure if I just picked rubbish glass screen protectors, but they caused me big issues. Neither would work with fingerprint reader and because they were hard, my original case was lifting the sides of the protector a bit, meaning touch was less sensitive.
The first glass protector I tried was UV and when it came to taking this off, that was a little scary with this brand-new phone!
Trying to peel it back off was a hard job, was very stuck and was actually cracking as I was slowly lifting it off.
So now I have a different case that doesn't affect the protector and a film protector and all seems good now

Very little issues. Honestly it's works as well as the tpu film did I had on my s21 ultra. I wanted glass over the film on the ultra because of the pen. I wasn't sure how the pen tip would work with indenting the tpu film. I like the feel of the glass a lot better.
Before my S23U arrived I already had the case and glass ready. Didn't even power it on first, but went right away and applied this UV glass.
No issues with case causing glass come off. Glass needs to be perfectly aligned.
I did the same with my N9 that I traded in - not a scratch anywhere, although I dropped it few times and the UV glass saved it And I had N9 for full 4 years..
No issues when I took the glass off before shipping N9 back to Samsung.

After using these on my S21 Ultra, I purchased the same for my S23 Ultra and installed it today. Took about 15 minutes and extremely happy with the results. Feels like the original glass and most times don't even notice it's on. Additionally, customer support is top notch. Any issues and they send out replacements without issue. They're also available for installation support if needed.
The key is to watch the installation video and read the instructions multiple times and clean clean clean the phone.

I used DomeGlass from Note9 (was little thick)>N20U and S22U and overall was good and happy but usually after few months under glass I saw "spider web" from glue on the edges.
Now in my S23U use Polish product like 3mk film and I am positive surprised good quality- thin, good sticks on the edges and low dirt from fingers similar, smooth spen use.
In this year don't miss to domeglass.
Nevertheless dome glass is good product but very expensive, installation with YT step by step is even easy

Yes, I think too about original samsung screen protector but I will buy it after receive points (about few days) thanks to buy phone in official site. Change my 3mk if I see issues but after 1 week (I know it's small period time) all is fine with case spigen tough armor.

Question Screen Protector Recommendation ( impact Protection+Fingerprint Unlock)

Dear Community,
Received a S23Ultra and now I am on the lookout for a glass(but not limited to) screen protector which allows for working Fingerprint Unlock. I wrote Glass because i guess something like the whitestone dome would dissipate the impact forces in the glass protector, instead of transmitting it to the screen. Previously i know zagg had a impact protective Film, but now they changed their products too much, it confusing.
What is your experience ? what do you recommend ?
Thanks
My phone is due to arrive tomorrow and I'll be trying these screen protectors. I've looked through all the usual brands I'd use but the S21 was a nightmare with the fingerprint reader so I had to keep it bare in the end. So, I'm going to try these and will report back ASAP.

A bit of both. It also doesn't want to stay fully down for me. The edges have lifted but there is a second one in the box. The rear camera covers though are great.
I brought this one, https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004031147265.html
I previously had one from Mocolo and their glass is silky smooth, you can definately feel the difference between other brands.
It also works fine with fingerprint sensor!

I installed this whitestone dome glass, fingerprint works after readding my fingerprints(actually worked with the saved ones from the naked glass but slower/had to press firmly) and now it works better, but still noticebly slower than without the protector. Having face unlock with this also on, i find it a good tradeoff.
Tbh , on my s10+ had the same glass and on some vacation found it crack in my jeans , so lets see how long this will last. Probably i will buy some other cheaper brands mentioned here after this first glass cracks. They have a really cool and easy installation procedure, got a nice fit. The glass has some dots to ensure an even separation from the screen glass, so i guess the impact protection is better that way given the depth which allows the forces to dissipate inside the hardened glue.
BR and thank you for sharing your choices of glass protectors with fingerprint working!
I use Zeelot. Fp working good and it's tempered glass

Anyone tried Samsung official screen protector from s22ultra on 23ultra? Did it work?

23ultra is more flat... i wonder if the adapter will also fit to align the screen protector. For s22u is half price cheaper than for 23ultra and i already destroy one because of dust and second in almost perfect but still some dust on the edges. I like Samsung protector as feeling with finger is almost like original gorilla glass. And it is not easy peel off on the screen edges... But i can't find anyone who already try it.
Ok I have used AmFilm for years. No issues with it sticking and fingerprint sensor worked. This year with the s23 ultra they are using different glue that doesn't stick well. Screen starts coming off for me after less than 24rs. Good product in the past terrible product now. Unless they update the glue there product this year is garbage.
On a good note I just installed the IMBZBK. Sensor working great and glue seems to be stronger. Still too early to tell but will give you guys an update after a week or so.

I installed the Samsung one. It's plastic not glass. It's fine. Hardly notice it.
I had previously installed a glass one, but I prefer the Samsung one.

Actually so far the Samsung one feels great.
My Ringke lasted exactly one week before delaminating. I will install the spare but then probably move to something else.

Question Biometrics huge problems

I have a huge problems with ****y S23 ultra. I had tempered glass screen protector... I had huge problems to add fingerprints.... after a day noone worked... I have to set new recordings after every day....
I gave up and bought plastic screen protector.. everything working great.... after a day again no fingerprint can be read..... I hate this phone.... is there any other solution? On S20 there was an option to remove battery optimization on com.biometrics app....
Thank you
I had same problems with a glass protector - i had to press very hard to recognize my finger.
Now with matte folio i dont have a problem. Have you resetted your fingerprints after instaling the new protector?
Deceiving thread title. Even the cheapest screen protector works very well with Samsung's in-glass finger print sensor.
Please be so kind and change your screen protector with 10 dollar one, you'll be fine.
Don't create thread to everything.
Not all tempered glass is capable of FPS. Option is to use a Hydrogel screen protector or just buy the tempered glass with hole on the FPS portion which looks like sh*t.
There is also what they call a Dome Glass that can make FPS work, but the attachment uses some sort of a liquid glue. Just make sure to avail the one that doesn't stick like a super glue

Man, i have tried 4 different brands tempered glass, 2 of them was with thinner glass on the fingerpring area - all didnt work good or didnt worked at all. I had many phones before that, never had this problem.
I have used a cheap matte plastic screen protector on the S21U, S22U and now on the S23U with no problems whatsoever with enhanced touch sensitivity turned on.
I have the same problem. Fingerprint reader is s* on S23U. I've tried many different screen protectors and it still sucks. My previous phone was Huawei P30 Pro and the fingerprint scanner was amazing even with a $1 protector on it.
The moment they tried to install that ass looking protector with the hole in the shop I was thinking what's going on here and what's wrong with a fingerprint reader.
This sux. So I have to try different sceen protector.... that could be expensive
Which one do you suggest, that wors 100%?
Is there any option to have them install screen protector?
i use samsung screen protector and i do not have any issue with biometrics... I don't even use enhanced sensitivity. Om my local forum everyone that use Whitestone Dome Glass have no issue with biometrics too, they put it exactly like in instruction using this metal weight during mounting. Some ppl that experiment with other brands have issue here and there.
I have use the Spigen Neo_flex and works great only issue is that like to smudge with fingerprints easy, and the I have the offical one on the S22 ultra and work great too, I have official one coming for my S23 ultra, for me the FPS works no better or worse than my S22 ultra.
Have you tried recording multiple copies of your fingerprints, in my experience, this vastly improves recognition?
1st, no screen protector the finger print reader is not the best... Cool tech tho, but not perfect yet.
I went to a cellphone shop, and the guy told me not only glassprotector will limit the reliability, but this reliability will change overtime.
- He proposed to me a film of gel protector, which I did use for few weeks, and indeed , it was like no protector at all. +/- 90% success rate.
- Then tried Axessorize Amor gLass, the matte spot bother me. around 50% success rate on multiple register same figer trick.
- Then tried those UV glass Ni-shen. Depite the fact those glass dont stick and do bubble, I have around 70-75% success rate with again same finger registered many time.

Maybe you have defect one, I never had issue with the FPS on my 22ultra or the 23 Ultra, I know people complain of it, but if your thumb is really dry that effects it, and its ultrasonic, not optical like lot of the other phones that have the in-display finger print reader, I like the samsung better since when I`m on the lake with my seadoo and in the water and my hands are pretty wet it still works, the optical ones won`t work unless you dry your thumb.

Doubt, I had 2x S23, was the same.
My hand are all over the place. Calm and no coffee = dry.
Sport or coffee or both = sweaty.
Most reviewers state the same. And this is partially because 4-5 years ago, we were use to ceramic one.
Those are way faster, and 99% success rate.
100% sure this is because people comparing 2 different technologies, and expect the same result. Under screen reading, is somewhat recent, and has a hader challenge to read between pixels a small print that never get positioned the same way each time

I use a Whitestone Dome Glass screen protector myself (been using them ever since they came out).
It works fine with fingerprints.
With all screen protectors one needs to increase touch sensitivity in Settings-->Display-->Touch sensitivity.
Yes, Dome Glass uses a UV-activated liquid glue. It comes with a jig to assist in placing the protector on the screen and a UV lamp to cure the glue. For me, the installation jig makes the procedure smooth and flawless every time - no bubbles and perfect placement of the protector. I would not use any other protector than the Dome Glass one.
I used to use the AmFilm but there glue is crap this year. The best for me now is the IMBZBK tempered glass UV glue installation. My fingerprint sensor with glass on works as good as with screen protector off. 95 percent success rate with glass on. Follow the instructions and you should have a perfect installation with this glass.

I have the exact same bad experience with FPS with tempered glass screen protector on, sometimes it works perfectly but other times it doesn't work at all, it's so frustrating...
I had Huawei P30 Pro and the FPS worked flawless everytime with any screen protector I've used.
Or y'all could save yourself some trouble and stop using sh***y screen protectors in the first place and you wouldn't have these problems.

I tried that one and finished in the garbage, bad quality product, is a screen protector that covers the front cam degrading the picture quality. Screen protectors should not cover the cam. Even from that brand I tried the camera lens protectors and after a while I saw slight scratches on it, now I have another brand that works fine.
The only way to not having issues with the FP is having a TPU screen protector and that's it, I have one and I have a rate of 80%-90% aprox and I will live with it.
Another very important point is this FP reader doesnt work at best with very dry skin, put your finger in your mouth, blow your humid breath and it will work better. I do this sometimes with other FP readers like when I enter in my house.
That is not true. If you install the glass correctly you won't have any issues with camera or fingerprint sensor. My accuracy is in the high 90s with the glass on. In all honesty don't feel any difference between glass and no glass.
