Hinge Sensor - Motorola Razr (2019) Questions & Answers

Has anyone had problems with the Hinge Sensor on their RAZR (2019)? This is the second time the Hinge Sensor has died on one of these phones for me. Is this a problem with me or is it very common? Also is there an easy fix for it?

tilt 2 bezel frontplate question

I have an At&t tilt 2 (Rhod300) and my bezel on my device is really scratched up.
i saw this on ebay and i wondered if it will work/look fine on my tilt2 even though it says its only for Rhod100

if not can anyone point me to a faceplate that will work with tilt2. i cannot find any that explicitly says "works only with tilt2"
not sure but i would think so.
I know the CDMA rhodium back covers don't fit right on the GSM rhodiums, but thats due to the part where the mini-usb being wider to accommodate for the 3.5mm headsets.
I wouldn't think so. If you look at the hardware-keys, you'll see that they are a bit different with the European version. I'm not sure, but I think so.
Sorry for my bad English. I'm Dutch
I highly doubt it. Look at the cut outs at the top of the plate. The big square is probably (from what I can read) for the proximity sensor. On the Tilt2's the proximity sensor is on the left. I ran into this when looking for gel skins for my tilt 2. A lot of them wouls have that cutout on the right, meaning my tilt's proximity sensor would be blocked.

That big square cutout you are talking about is for the front facing camera for the European TP2.
Ah, I see you're right. I'm stupid. . . . That must have been the same reason the rest of the cases I was looking at had the cutout there. But I still don't understand how those cases would have worked on my unit because the proximity sensor would have been covered all of the time. . .

Realook Screen Protector interferes with proximity sensor...

I bought the Realook screen protectors for my Rezound after seeing them highly recommended online. I had a lot of problems getting it to fit exactly right which was frustrating, but finally placed it properly.
My phone has been working perfectly for the last two months but lately it's been exhibiting very strange behavior whenever I make phone calls. The screen shuts off right away and won't come back on until you press the power button, then it shuts right back off. Sometimes the screen stays off even after the phone call disconnects, and the only way to get the screen to turn back on is plug it in or pull the battery. Super frustrating.
I factory reset my stock, unrooted phone but it was still having the exact same problem. I downloaded AndroSensor to check out my sensor operation and noticed the proximity sensor was all screwed up. Finally it dawned on me - this started happening as soon as I installed my new screen protector, which just so happens to cover up the proximity sensor. I pulled it off and everything works perfectly again. I can't be the only person who's had this issue? Just wanted to make sure I posted this online for others to find if they are having any similar issues.
All things considered between the installation difficulties and proximity sensor interference I am quite disappointed with the Realook and will be requesting a refund. Because of how big this protector is, I see no way to install it that does not cover up the sensor.
Knock on wood, i do not have that issue at all with my realook protector. It is not affecting the sensor or front camera, both of which are covered.

Just installed my realook about 15 minutes ago. Hope I don't have this problem. It wouldn't surprise me though. I had the same proximity sensor problem with a bestskinsever protector on my droid1.
I have had this problem with my realook also. I did all the troubleshooting too, first i found out my sensor was dirty, but that's another story. Then i found out that my realook protector was definitely causing problems. It sucks that they don't have the cutouts for the proximity sensor, because in my opinion, they are such an AMAZING product. They rarely get scratches and they have a real nice surface texture. What i did was take a new protector and use a hole punch to pop out the spot where the proximity sensor is and then install it. However, since it's not as clean of a cut as a machine could give it, it started lifting.
So after some researching online, i've decided not to use any screen protectors at all. The way i see it is that the screen protectors run about $12-$15. But an entire new glass screen, digitizer, screw driver, and torx wrench cost me $35 shipped. If you're worried about warranty, obviously go with the screen protector, but with the quality of refurbs that verizon is putting out right now, i've been warned to keep my original phone at all costs unless something catastrophic happens to it. And even so, there's ebay and craigslist
I have that problem and don't even have a screen protector.

Get a can of compressed air and spray in the speaker grille above the sensor. Get any lint off the grille too

I don't have the problem, and I've had this one realook screen protector on for quite a few months.

My wife's realook hasn't caused any problems since february, but mine on the other hand causes non stop problems
Sent from my rezound using tapatalk because the current xda premium app sucks!
I also have a Realook but to contrast I have had no such issues, of course the installation was the biggest fuss and ultimately I wasted one of the two I had and my brother redid the second one that was crooked.
I'll add that Realook had very prompt customer support and offered to send replacements at no charge because I must have received a bad batch. They were going to check with their supplier to ensure the correct materials were being used consistently which should not interfere with the sensors.
I opted to just take a refund since I already bought some cheapo Verizon protectors and get those installed. Don't want to deal with the head ache of another Realook installation and I still question the design of covering up the sensors.
I use Wave Control alot in the car which relies heavily on the proximity sensor and I have had no problems with the realook screen protector installed.

Xperia Z3 camera glass cover issue

Hi there sirs.
i have a problem with my z3. you see i tried to dip it down in the water, after that i noticed that there was a moist build up on the lens behind. Panicked, i tried to remove it using a lighter but very gently and quite a distance with the camera. i noticed that the moist did disappeared but came back again, though it was just immediate heating. so I decided to heat it longer than before, unfortunately i did not know that it was plastic because i thought it was a glass same with the whole back. now, the cover is somehow deformed, you can see that its not completely flat and smooth and there are some smudges inside. i was wondering since i heated that part, is the problem coming from the cover or the camera itself because everytime i take a photo it's having a hard time auto focusing, pictures are a little blurry and somehow like over exposed. i already changed the settings but still no luck.
I just need to know in your opinion, should i have the cover replaced or the camera itself is the one having the problem??
A good answer is highly appreciated sir.
This is the Z3v board for Verizon specific models. You may want to ask your question at the Z3 boards.
It's fairly well known that moisture issues are usually best remedied by a slower approach, such as opening the ports and placing the wet phone in a sealed container of rice (which absorbs water readily).
My guess is that you may have slightly melted one of the lenses inside the camera if they are composite. Another possibility is that the plastic or rubber that separates the lenses was distorted, causing a permanent misalignment of necessary for proper focal distance. Yet another possibility is that the heat could've altered a lens coating, like the UV coating, for example.
The autofocus uses contrast and line definition software to work. If the camera ccd sensor can't "see" clearly to get a fix on something, the lens will just keep trying to focus in and out but never get anywhere. It'll likely eat battery quickly, and overheat.
At any rate, you've probably done irreparable damaged to your camera unit.
You just need to change the battery cover. Most likely the back cover melted onto the camera sensor leaving it with no room to move to focus properly.

Repairs

I have a Redmi Note 3 Pro for about half a year and I have my screen broken and my back cover a bit beaten up. I know how to change my screen, LCD and bezel but I don't know how to change the back cover because of the fingerprint sensor. Does anybody know how to transfer the fingerprint sensor to the new housing? Thanks in advance.
There's supposed to be a little ribbon cable connecting the fpc to the housing, disconnect it and you should be able to connect that to your new housing.

case breaks compass

I discovered this evening that the case I bought breaks the compass. I wasn't able to calibrate the compass until I took the tablet out of the case. The cover is magnetic to turn the screen on and off. Either the magnets they use are too strong or they cover too much area. Or this table is unusually sensitive to magnets. The case I bought was this one:

I'm curious to see if the next case I buy has the same problem.
Could someone confirm that their compass is working with a case with a sleep/wake feature? This is happening to the second case I bought.

For me it's working fine and I am using the original Huawei case.
