Hi,
I have a problem:
I played a bit in the bootloader mode ( only in the test area),
got in a test mode which tests all things in the Xda an
restarted it, because I wasn´t interested in the big number of
tests and the XDA didn´t boot. I went back in the bootloader
mode and made tests of the improtant things (RAM, but not
microphone or something like that- they are OK made a hard
restart, but it makes no use. The colorfull screen with the
numbers on the rightened bottom stays hour for hour and nothing
happens.
I´m not very hopefull, but does any of you tricky guys no what
to do??(The situation in short form: I come to the bootloade,
but there´s no way to the "normal mode")
Thx for your solutions

It's not really clear from your post: what happens if you do a
warm reset (big hole) without holding the power button? Is your
power button stuck? (don't laugh: happened here...). What
happens if you cold-reset (small hole)?

Sebastian,
don't worry. Exactly this happend to me yesterday after playing
with test in Bootloader mode.
I haven't found any other solution than to do cold-reset
(hard-reset). After everything works well.

Thank you for your posts.
@ Xda...: I try to tell it second time:
When I press the power button, I get to the multicoloured
screen with the Version numbers on the right bottom.
When I do a reset I come to it as well.
When I do a reset while pressing power button I come to the
bootloader
When I press the battery button and wait for over 60 s the
red-green-blue screen comes back.
@ Radismus:
Thx, but as I descroibed even the cold reset doesn´t help.

Not sure what you mean with "multicoloured screen with the
Version numbers". Could what you see be explained by a stuck
soft reset button? (in the big hole)
Depending on your options with waranty, you could open the case
and examine the microswitch.
Subject: Is that so difficult?

Don´t you know this display? It comes always after any reset or
when the battery was discharged.
The first part isred, the second green and the bottom is blue.
On the rightened side there are the Radio and System version
Numbers and usually the XDA makes ding-dong and you are on the
desktop. But that does not happen.
All clear?
Do you think I get problem with the warranty service, when they
see, that I was in the bootloader?(I didn´t open it or
manipulated sth.)
Should I try to overact the system from one XDA to the broken
one (with an SD Card and the bootloader(button "App3")) Do you
think the other XDA goes broke too or it damages the broken one
even more?

You could try flashing a new CE image using the ROM Image Tool.

I neither have Win XP nor a Card adapter.
But do you think I should try it with the other XDA and the
bootloader (app3, write to SD Card) how I described it in my
last post?

Yes you could: just dump the ROM on one device, and load it on
the other. Only works if both devices have bootloaders older
than 5.17...

Do you think the other XDA could go break, to
How big has the SD card to be?
Subject: No, 64 MB
From: XDA developers

No, it can't break the good phone, provided you use it to dump
the ROM only. You need just slightly over 32 MB, so that makes
it a 64 MB card.

XDA GSM error after upgrading to WM2003

Hi all,
i've got a slight problem with my XDA. After updating to WM 2003 (4.00.16) my GSM (3.23) seens to be broken...
It woked for a while and then out of nowhere. My XDA now wont boot. Th good news is that i can go into the bootloader.
What can i do now? Where can i get a good WM2002 image to put onto my SD Card? I'd appreciate any help!!!
Dear Fabi,
I know it might not be the suitable question, but could you plz tell the exact steps you did that led you to this situation. This is to allow you to get precise help, and to be a learned lesson for the rest of us, coz I was about to upgrade from 3.25 to 4.00.16 but prefered to ask first.
Don't worry, the guys here are way clever and I 'm sure you will get the help very soon ... TKR
Nooo problem. I was about to Sync my XDA via USB Cradle and noticed that my backlight was turned off. Also my Phone was searching for a Network (now I know why... ). So I thought it might be good to reset that thing..... *aghhhrrrr* That was a big mistake. After the reset I saw the boot screen and the backlight blinking twice. That was all. My Bootloader (5.15) says "GSM Error"... now I'm without Mobile Phone for a while :?
so in other words, 4.00.16 was OK but you screwed up the XDA by just doing a reset while the backlight was off ?? ... I 'm afraid I don't get it :?

Confirming you used the SD card method to upgrade, right!
Also what radio band is or was your XDA set to before the upgrade?
HTH
No I didn't use SD Card to update my XDA. I used The ROM-Kitchen to generate a exe and updated over USB cradle.
Im running my MDA (i don't have a XDA ) on a german GSM 1800. Eplus. It was always set to this option and I never even tried to change it.
@biso007:
I screwed my MDA because I did a reset. Thats right. But I had some backlight issues in the past few days after upgrading. The backlight sometimes turned off and there was no chance to get it back on... only a reset. I first thought the proplem occured again yesterday but then i saw that my MDA was looking for network. After resetting the GSM part was dead....!
So back to my problem. I now ordered a SD Card Reader/writer. Is it possible to resore my system via XDArit and a backup? Can someone provide me a working 2002 backup from boot, OS and GSM part? Or can I do this by myself. I really appreciate your help!! Thanks a lot.
Ok I see!
Do this then press the green phone button, tools, Options, Band
and post whats listed.
and yes its possible to restore your system via XDArit and a backup.
As far a the 2002 PPCPE ROM goes you should be able to download it from T-Mobile, so visit their web site and search their MDA upgrade/download section.

My MDA does not boot anymore! I can't get into windows and i can't sync anymore! I have the Radiostack and the 2002 image fram the T-Mobile Website but the image ist a NK.nbf. AFAIK XDArit needs *.nb1 Files? I also noticed that it seems not possible to write the GSM Part to the phone via XDArit.
Hiya Folks
I wonder if you could helpme with a bit of a problem, i have recently attempted to upgrade my XDA using the reccommended downloads from O2, this upgraded my ROM and the GSM part of the XDA. however when trying to get into my XDA it freezes, i can get into the bootloader but get a GSM error, am i able to flash the GSM, if so where can i get the flash and how would i carry this out. i have got into the GSM part of the bootloader and the GSM will not turn on. i have tried copying the GSM from a friends XDA only to find the message "please connect to RS232 and run PC monitor now"
Hope you can help
Cheers guys, you are truly more useful than the folks who we obviously look up to at O2!!!! Mind you this does not say much!!
Thanks again

WALLABY BOOTLOADER V5.15

Hello, I have upgraded my Siemens SX56, to 2003,I had couple of problems with this Upgrade, I restar my computer but now my phone got 4 colors screen "Whit, Red, Green, and Blue" with the title Wallaby Bootloader V5.15 and at the bottom GSM OK, What should I do. Thanks.
Just make a soft reset wqithout pressing the power button....
HTH
Stefan
Thanks, but, how put in my phone?
Soft reset is placing stylus in the hole on bottom left of xda, if that doesnt work you will need to reflash your xda using sd card method.
Sorry. Now, I save, the file in sd card, this is corret? and then?
You have to use xdatools to write the .nbf file to sd card, choose your nbf file as source and choose the sd card as destination, do not use the browse button in the destination box, use the drop down to the left of it, this will show your sd card, once it is written you need to put it in your xda, then enter bootloader mode, it will ask if you wish to continue the flash, press the action key and it will flash the rom, make sure your xda is charged.
Ok, thanks again, now my phone, coming up, but only see on window the screen pocket pc 2002 "Tap the screen to set up your Pocket PC" but when I tap noting, ActiveSync is connected and up date mi pocket, I supposed, I see in my computer and synchronized all. I try again to upgrade and I receive this.
your current device information:
Model : PW10A1

Language : English
Your upgraded image information:
Model : PW10B1
ROM Version : A.30
Language : English
Please download the compatible utility and try again.
How make now?....thank you againt.
Sorry, now I restart in the battery on/off switch side and coming up and work, but, is possible upgrade this version?
ROM Version: 3.17.03 ENG
Rom date: 05/15/03
Radio version: A.33.02
Protocol version: 1.3.3
One more question, this phone is only 900/1900 MHz Dual Band, is possible open to 1900?
Tanks

Is my Wallaby really dead? A plea for help

My Wallaby spontaneously reverted to the White Screen and neither a soft nor a hard reset would get it to change. By pressing the power and soft reset buttons, I have succeeded in rousing the tricolor Wallaby Bootloader V5.22 screen, but I don't know where to go from here.
I downloaded XDAtools but the self-extraction aborted. I'll keep trying. I'm not sure what I should do if I succeed in opening it.
Can anyone offer advice on how to kick this phone back to life?
I had updated months ago to Windows Mobile 2003, which worked fine. The screen is mostly white, with the "Designed for Windows Mobile" logo and the following information:
G1.3.3
RA 33.02
A.30.09
Thank you.

white screen problems
I just had the same thing happen to two of my pocketpc (THC) Tmobile brand one is 2002 the other is 2003.
I have NO strange software on either and they have both been working well.
I did get a 'successful' prompt from the Bootloader when I used an SD card to reload the OS and Boot files. But can't get past the white screen - tried the Yorch.net on one and the only difference is the addition of the 'Not for Sale' disclaimer.
Will using an rs232 cable to connect allow me to communicate with these paper-weights???
Help would really be appreciated! To the extent that I would be happy to trade one of the units for a successful resolution.
flash back to 2002 will save the phone's life!
Can you walk me through a 2002 flash?
Thank you for your advice. I'm obviously less adept than nmournian, so I can't get as far as he or she did, and won't be able to follow cgigate's suggestion. Could I trouble you for a step-by-step instruction?
I have a ROM from the kitchen on an SD card (2003 OS, I think), but I don't know how to flash the unit either with this or with a 2002 OS once I enter Bootloader. I have not found a guide (that I can understand) about how to navigate Bootloader.
So I need to know:
1. How to get the 2002 OS onto the SD card
2. How to flash the unit once I do.
I'd be very grateful.

As you said, you did "upgraded to 2003".
It is exactly same to flash back 2002!
1. Download 2002 rom from somewhere
2. Using XDAtools to flash the SX56, or XDAtools to copy the rom to SD via SD method!
Further help?
Thank you for your advice.
I searched the web for the 2002 ROM, but I'm not sure I found it. I downloaded a file called NK.nbf and loaded it it onto an SD card using OSImage Tool from XDAtools. I put that in the SX56 and entered Bootloader, but it did not flash. It just sat there.
Something I came across said that the ROM file that triggers a flash has an NB1 suffix. I couldn't find a 2002 ROM with that suffix. I tried writing the NK.nbf onto the SD as NK.nb1, but that didn't trigger the unit into flashing from Bootloader. I also read that NK.NB1 is somehow contained within NK.nbf, and that there is a program (splitrom) that yields NK.NB1 as the output from NK.nbf, but it is a DOS program and when I tried to run it on my XP computer I got an error message ("PERL is not in your PATH) that I couldn't overcome.
So...I'm still at home base. Advice?
You can get a Rom here:

Qtek 2020/Imate/Xda II not booting

Hi,
I own a Qtek 2020 purchased in Dubai, U.A.E. in 2004.
I am experiencing trouble booting my Pocket PC. I was trying to upgrade my ROM version from 1.60.00WWE to 1.72.00WWE when my Laptop went into standby mode. The upgrade got interrupted and the software asked me to reset my device and place it in the cradle. When I reset my device, it shows the normal screen with Qtek written in the centre. It has the device information in the bottom right corner. It gets stuck here and does not proceed. Additionally, when I place it on the cradle, my laptop does not recognize it anymore.
I have the backup for it on the SD card which is inserted into it. However, I am unable to get to the Bootloader mode, probably, because I had disabled the camera button when i used the device the last time.
I need to know how I can repair my Qtek 2020 or any way that I can get it to start.
Your help shall be appreciated.

try push the power button, directional pad and the reset button all together to get into bootloader mode. sometimes u need to press it couple of times.
good luck

Can't upgrade any ROM's- Error 260 (detailed description)

Hello,
I am new to this site, and also to WM based phones. I have run several searches on the forums for this problem and spent at least 3 hours today trying to run through the results, but I haven't found an answer that fits my circumstances. If the answer is on the forums, please forgive me, but I probably missed it because most posts start with one topic and become something entirely different within 5-12 pages.
So I have a Cingular 8525 with these stats:
Rom Version: 1.34.502.1
ROM Date: 9/21/06
Radio Version: 1.16.0.0
Protocol Version: 32.53.7018.01H
Windows Mobile 5.0
I am working from a Windows XP Pro, SP2 box with ActiveSync 4.5 installed.
I downloaded 2 different update packages. The first was the latest shipped ROM, the second was the official Windows Mobile 6 upgrade. I have a USB cable attached to a USB 2.0 port. This is what happens when I try to upgrade with either program (I have done this both with the SIM card in and without it in):
Method 1:
I connect the 8525 to the USB cable and run ActiveSync. It connects and syncs, then I run the Upgrade program I downloaded. It starts up, then I lose the ActiveSync connection to the 8525. A second or so later, I get the rainbow color bands across the screen and it sits there. The program gets to the part about how you might brinck your phone, and I continue with the upgrade process. It gets to the part where it is supposed to check for the phone's current ROM, and it shows a blank instead of the ROM's version.
Method 2:
I start the upgrade program, then when it gets to the part about connecting your 8525, I connect it to the USB cable, then run ActiveSync. After it syncs, I continue with the process. This lets me avoid the problem with the rainbow screen and it identifies the current ROM on the phone. I continue the upgrade process, and it gets to the part where it is supposed to begin actually doing the upgrade. Then the program says that there is a USB connectivity problem, error 260. It gives me the option to reset the 8525 and see if it recovers correctly (which it always does), then try again, but I get the same effect.
I can't figure out what to do, and any help would be greatly appreciated!
An Update:
On the rainbow screen, it says:
HERM100
IPL-1.01
HERM100
SPL-1.11
USB
Ok, this time I downloaded the latest update from HTC and ran it again. I got the same result as method 1, but even though it didn't show the existing ROM version, I let it run and it actually did update!
I now how WM 5 (still) and:
ROM Version: 2.15.502.3
ROM Date: 04/09/07
Radio Version: 1.40.30.00
Protocol version: 32.73.7020.16H
So far so good, but man that startup tone is LOUD! I am guessing that there was either a problem with the first upgrade I downloaded, or I just chickened out and didn't let the upgrade continue when I didn't see what I expected...
Hope this helps someone else!
