[Q] Custom Rom on RAZR ? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi everyone, after seeing so much post of bootloader locked for every country I've got some trouble to choose between Galaxy Nexus (16Gb) and Razr, I actually live in France, so sorry for my english btw.
My current phone is a Defy on Cyanogen 7 RC1.5 wich I purely love, and I think it will be difficult to leave cyanogen to motoblur rom on razr if we can't get rid of it :/, on the other side I need a phone with micro SD port to have all my music (30Gb+) with me everywhere, so galaxy nexus 16Gb (32 is not available in France) is not as good as razr for that.
So my simple question is "Will custom rom (Cyanogen!) be soon available on razr and will it be difficult to install them on?"
In advance, sorry if i'm acting like a noob and for my english again.

Sorry, but its like asking how long a piece of string is at the minute.
Until a dev can figure it out who knows.
On the plus side the Razr out of the box is pretty damn good

Currently, neither the International RAZR (XT910) or the Verizon Droid RAZR (XT912) ship with an unlocked bootloader, so you won't be seeing any custom ROMs any time soon.
However Motorola have confirmed in a blog post (which I can't link because I don't have enough posts) that they will be shipping a firmware update that unlocks the bootloader "sometime later this year", so you might not be in for too long a wait, carrier permitting.
Long story short - if you need ROMs within a short period of getting your phone, and it's soon, you might want to consider the Galaxy Nexus. If you're willing to wait or your contract doesn't finish until next year, the choice might be more balanced. But the Galaxy Nexus will probably always have the better development community of the two devices.

Thanks for the reply, I think I will give it a try in stores!

[Q] Just bought a Motorola Atrix 4G, however...

Hi guys,
I just bought a Motorola Atrix 4G from Ebay. However I was wondering, what ROM should I use, since I live in the Netherlands?
I already noticed a few roms here, however, since I live in the Netherlands, I want to know which one I should use for the best performance within my country.
Can someone please advice me?
Thank you very much.

Sorry I forgot to mention it's the cell phone from AT&T carrier. I already know where to unluck it, thanks to this forum!
I am really sorry if this is a dumb question, but I couldn't find anything on it on the forums for Dutch people. :S
You're welcome.

Quite a dumb question indeed.

I apologize for Shaydar. That is an incredibly rude comment to make for absolutely no reason.
Make sure the ROMs are compatible with your network. I know that Canadian users were warned to avoid using certain ROMs at first.
However, I no longer own an Atrix, so you might need to some more research on the subject.

No problem, luckily there are some more decent folk around here. Oh well, I guess on every forum their are a few a..........
I never heard of a provider blocking a ROMs overhere in the Netherlands. But then again we are allowed a lot of stuff overhere, legalised soft drugs, red light district and so on. So I doubt it will going to block a custom ROM, but of course you never know.
So the ROMs, depending they aren't blocked, do work without problems with other countries, right? As a matter of fact, it doesn't matter what or who's ROM it is, the ROM itself doesn't provide the connection (phone/data/gps). Right?
Sorry if I misunderstood. Oh well; even if someone said it wouldn't work, it doesn't matter that much anymore, since the phone will arrive here within 2 days.
By the way, you returned the Atrix 4G? Didn't you like the phone or was there another reason?
I believe Canadian Atrix users have to use certain ROMs due to hardware compatibility. I'm no expert in Canadian Atrii but they've been waiting until very recently for an SPL that's compatible with their phones so I assume it's either compatibility between the ROM and the phone hardware (bootloader maybe?) or between the ROM and the network.
Sorry if I sounded rude.
All roms are just original firmware with skin and some mods.
Guess the guy sold his cell cause the bootloader was locked and some things like the real 4G, 1080p recording, and gingerbread are not yet available for the phone.
I am from france and all the roms avaible on this forum worked fine.
Got a preference for GreyBlur.
Enjoy your Atrix when you got it.
Mine cost me 425€ all costs in.

You purchased an AT&T phone so ant of the ROMs (greyblur, gingerblur, Gladiatrix) will work for you.
Just my 2 cents
sent from my better than yours Atrix ;-)

Okay thanks. After doing some researching I will be going to use the GladiAtrix2v4.2.3 (not themed) version.
Let's hope I manage to get it working properly.
On a sidenote; my phone didn't arrive yet.
One thing: don't be surprised when you don't see the earphones in the package.
At&T just don't provide them.... But there's a HDMI wire.... Weird choice...
And plug your phone to the wall-charger if it doesen't seem to boot.

Ah okay... I don't care much about earphones, though other people might. But thanks for the information.
Also thanks for the extra pointer regarding the wall-charger.
Darn... I also wanted to order the Motorola vehicle dock including rapid charger, but it seems they don't have that overhere yet or in my neighbouring countries. :S
Cleaned the thread, back on topic.
Simple question; is there a way to disable those annoying messages about updates?
I rooted and installed gladiatrix and it has been working perfectly since then. However I am not getting messages about installing an update (4.1.83.en.US).
I select "Install later" every time, however after 3 hours it's back and it's getting annoying. Or is the update safe to use on a rooted gladiatrix phone? If not, how can I disable these messages completely?

[Q] Availablity in USA+ Porting Webtop

Hi All,
Hopefully I am buying the device in USA at August,
And I wanted to know will the device be available in stores SIMFREE buy then?
Also I wanted to if it is possible to port the Webtop system from Atrix?
PS. Sorry for posting in wrong forum, just now noticed that I posted in general.
Simfree in america? Never going to happen.
Webtop from atrix on a samsung phone? Never going to happen.
why not?
I think many people want to see an ubunto-based secondary OS on the MHL,
and there are going to be a lot of devs here frome what I see so I really think it is possible.
you can order from here:

[Q] Giving away SGS2...recommend my friend a good chinese/english ROM!

Hi,
So I tend to go through phones quite quickly, my new darling is the Galaxy Nexus (pros & cons vs SGS II - talk bout that elsewhere!) but anyway I'm giving my SGS 2 to someone very deserving but he needs to be able to use Chinese input as well as English.
Since I am Australian born and don't speak Chinese I've never had need of this and have no idea which ROM to help him install fresh. Any ROM recommends either custom or "just install samsung version XX" is fine and much appreciated. Thanks!
Miui has support for both simplified & traditional Chinese out of the box.

[Q] Any Chance Ubuntu Touch on VZW GS4?

Hello Everyone!
I am an old man when it comes to this website but a young steer when it comes to posting on it, I have been lerking these forums for a while with the Droid 1,2,3,4 and now Samsung GS4 all from Verizon.
I was curious of opinions on the Ubuntu Touch Operating System... Would you like to see it come to the Verizon S4? I personally would love to. Do you think it will make it or do you think dev for the S5 will take over? Just looking to get ideas on what to do with this phone when its old and grey in a few years. I have been trying to make my D4 into a MP3 player forever but cannot find a 'simple' ROM to run it on.
Best regards,
Colton22
I know it was being worked on for different S4 variants, but there's no way to make it worked on locked bootloaders so far. I don't know if that's possible. But there's a native booting Ubuntu set up for the AT&T S4 and I think there was a version of ubuntu touch released but it wasn't near complete last I saw.
EDIT: Also, make sure to ask questions in the dedicated Q/A section

I was really curious and am still hoping to even a similar themed light weight rom. Sorry about posting in the wrong section and it has been noted
