Titan screen less sensitive than HD2 screen. Glove test :( - HTC Titan

Ok I was disappointed to find this out today...
I went into a Carphone Warehouse to try out the Titan. Now when it is cold, I wear thin silk lined leather dress gloves. Amazingly, I can operate my HD2 (with flashed WP7 rom) whilst still wearing the gloves. I hate having to remove them everytime I want to use the phone so I bought a pair that work with the screen. None of this expensive special capacitive gloves nonsense. Just a standard thin pair of Dents gloves. Anyway, so I can scroll through the menus, tap out an sms on the HD2 - all still gloved. However when trying to use the Titan with my gloves, its almost impossible to do so unless I press really hard. My gloved fingers dont register well and yet they do effortlessly on the HD2.
This is such a disappointment to find out.
Can anyone else with thin leather gloves try it out and see if they can use the UI without taking them off? What is so special about the HD2 screen that the Titan can't compete with in terms of sensitivity?

Unfortunately I can't help you out with the glove thing, but I can confirm that my Titan's screen seems significantly less responsive than my wife's Focus screen. It feels somehow "stickier" or less smooth, and take a few taps or swipes extra to get it to do what I want.
I know there's a learning curve and I'll subconsciously compensate in the coming days and weeks, but right now it's noticeable.

You will have a video about this tomorrow.
It really depends a lot on what kind of glove you have.
And also the Titan, the displayed one could filled with Fingerprint.

I think the benefit of robust glass is disadvantage for a few of us. After dropping my phone 3 times in just a week and not facing shattered screen, im happy if gloves don't work!

YouTube is still processing the video, but 480p is available to view right now.

Thanks for the video. Those gloves look thick. So are those gloves unlined or if not what sort of lining? My Dents gloves are quite thin and silk lined so am surprised they don't work on the Titan screen when they do work on the HD2 screen.

has anyone bought the full body from them? it went down in price by 5bucks.. i was wondering if there was pics and how much it actually covers..
i'm going to give it a try... if it makes the device more "grippy", i'll be a good to go.
It could be an amazing idea, or pile of poo. Please let us know how you get on.
can i combine for example a brando screen protecor with the full body kit from clear coat or invisibleshield?
let us know how it goes.. cuz i want it to cover corners and everything.. if you look at the pictures for the iphone they have.. it doesn't cover anything.
I emailed clear coat friday and here is the email with reply:

Hi, I would jlust like to know if this actually covers the entire phone, or just the front and back and not the edges.
Thank you

Khang,
Thank you for writing in. We have been able to get excellent coverage on the Touch HD. The sides, top, bottom, front, and back are all covered. All of our designs omit a small part of the corners - we've found this makes the Clear-Coat stay on longer (corners peel easily), and easier to install. Overall, I'd say you achieve 95% coverage on this model.

For $20 shipped I jumped in....Invishield hasn't come out with their HD version yet and I want to keep my baby looking brand spanking new...untile I drop it in the toilet, of course.

Well, that´s bad for me..according to my experience with mobile phones, they always fall down on corners(
I just wonder how much is the new cover, whether it is not nearly the same price as this protector...

Blug, blug!!
I'll post a mini review once I get it on.
ookayy! PICTURES TOOO!!! PLEASE!!
I received my set yesterday, there are 5 pieces covering more or less 92% of the HD.
One big missing (7%) concerns the band all around the touch screen.
I dislike the touch screen part, to grippy for me, better to use original one from the HTC box.
I confirm, quite difficult to apply this protection to the corner.
Because of the size of the screen, do not put too much pressure when you apply the protection.
Not really good experience till now, I've expected a full protection
Does it cover the lens?

UPDATE:
I finally received my invisibleSHIELD the other day. Past by my local kiosk that does the professional install. After 1 hour give or take I went back to the store. Right away the store attendant told me it looked sharp and I had to agree with him. To my surprise it looked better than I thought. I purchased the full body protection and it pretty much wrap the entire body. The kit fits almost perfectly on every curve and holes. The mocha color has a glaze look to it like a coat of glaze you would apply on wood. He told me I shouldn't put it in my pocket or place it in any case for at least 24-48 hours, letting the process take place and reduce the lint and dust. During the first 24 hours, it did felt the rubbery feel to it. It felt awkward at first. However after my first 24 hours, that rubbery feel disappeared / less noticeable. Not sure if I got use to it or it takes a while for the product to settle. Now waiting for ProClip to release its device holder for the T-Mobile version.
Comparison: Screen Protector that came with my HTC Rhodium vs. invisibleSHIELD - no comparison. After couple of days with the stock, there were visible signs of scratches from my nail and stylus. invisibleSHIELD - none. The only thing that the stock has over the invisibleSHIELD is that it was more flush and didn't have any major gap. I can't complain.
Overall: I'm happy with it and I don't have to worry about it getting scratched or dent with the full body kit.
I would strongly advise not getting an invisibleshield. My friend bought one and its not really touch screen friendly. Its very squishy (for lack of a better description) and when using the stylus and or finger on the screen you finger/ stylus gets stuck, almost sticky like. The screen does not react to many of the screen taps or slides.
My friend hated it so much he had to replace it with a generic screen protector (but he kept the rest of the body on.)
Try the Bodyguardz, they're somewhat similar but they are much more responsive and easier to deal with, and you get 2 sets with each one-
http://www.bodyguardz.com/content/accessories/57---2007.htm
I'm waiting for bestskinsever.com to get it. I've been using them ever since I had my Blackberry Curve 8320 and I think they are the best. Works great and without any problems with touch screen devices, I have it on my iPod Touch.
As of right now I'm using the piece of crap one that came with the phone. Got a few scratches on it already, I mean as long as it keeps my screen safe then I don't care.
same here and i hate the one that came with it.
I tried an InvisibleShield on my TP2 last week. It went on easy enough with just a few bubbles that slowly dissipated over a few days, but it is definitely not touch screen friendly - using your stylus with it feels like dragging the stylus through treacle.
Luckily it came off easily enough too....

Did you guys buy the full protector or just the screen protector from bodyguardz? How's the full version? Does it fit well?
Hello, I found one that works well. It is from www.clearprotector.com I bought the entire phone protector and am very impressed. I did have to use a heat gun to shrink the edges a little on the battery cover, but that was because I did not align it very well As for the screen, it did feel a little on the sticky side for the first week, but as of now I cant hardly notice it and I personally dont feel that it had made the screen any less responsive. Overall a good investment vs. a beat up phone.

I have also tried the invisable shield. It is a great product...but not for touch screen devices. You have to oil the screen to get your fingers to slide, LOL. I took it all off except for the back cover protection and went back to the factory screen protector till one comes out that "FITS" and works with touch screens

He is saying the surface of the protector is much more "grabby" then the oem protector or protector's like Boxwave and Martin Fields. It is much harder to slide your finger with these types (body guardz, zagg, etc...)
I got news for you, Bestskinsever uses the same material as the zagg stuff.. I ordered a universal cut your own kit. Its just as sticky as Zagg (which I have also owned before)..
So sounds like body guardz is also the same material, yes?

LG G2 Drop test.

Well some of you probably waiting for this.
To keep it short:
Back drop - OK
Side drop - Fatal
Probably due to thin bezel, but we all know the risk when we brought this phone right?
yeah, looks like that thin bezel doesn't fare well on accidental drops..
thats why i ordered my Spigen Slim Armor for good reason..
Pretty much any phone will shatter the display if it lands on the side or bottom, most if not all phone are edge to edge glass these days which doesn't help.
Hmm think it does fairly poorly. Note 3 only cracked on direct drop, not from corner hit.
Also it stops working early. This is definitely not a rugged phone.

This is totally random. 100%. And these phones aren't made to be dropped from those heights either. If you are an bad user, you buy something thats made to take a few hits. Not phones like these, these should be used with care, not childish or stupid actions.

I think the ground bashed the phone enough that he didn't have to.
There is nothing scientific to it people. Even with all the camera angles you guys mentioned. Someone will still cry foul when it doesn't fall exactly right.
This phone looks fragile enough for it to be believed that it will break on the first fall.
-LG G2
Almost any phone if it hits just right will shatter. Its all about force. Hitting it on the corner or a small area will produce more force as its not distributed, like laying on a bed of nails as opposed to stepping on a single nail. These are all glass screens, gorilla or not. Never seen a phone that I cant find one drop test where the screen doesnt have some damage...so lets see what flexible "non-glass" displays can do...

If you consider life an extended drop test, my RAZR has survived amazingly well. To be honest, I don't know how the screen hasn't been broken. I remember when I first got it, I was afraid it would break easily from flexing because it was so thin. It never did. I even started throwing it 10 ft. in the air and letting it land on concrete and asphalt just so I could rub it into my friend's faces that used iPhones. lol, I'm such a jerk.

tempered glass screen protectors

Tempered glass screen protectors. Anyone using them? I have put one on my iphone 5s and was really impressed. Found a no name brand and it worked well for $6. I can't pay alot for them. Goes against that sale instinct in me!
So it made me look for one for the mega. I had a cheap glare free plastic one on temporarily which was fine, but I wanted a glass one. Hard to find. Here's what I bought. $12.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/111253895644?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Put it on last nite. I used the hinged method, with an extra piece of tape on the free side for precise placement. It went on beautifully, but I thought I was sloppy cause I saw a fingerprint after application, and I was really mad at myself. But I was so meticulous, I couldn't believe it.
The more I worked with it, I saw it wasn't a fingerprint, but a portion of adhesion that didn't stick the size of a fingerprint. I worked it more, maybe the warmth of my fingers finally got it to adhere. So I was not sloppy afterall. If you have this problem, just give it a little time. I almost was tempted to lift it and clean, resisted the thought, and I was rewarded for my patience. It's a perfect application 8 hours later.

I have applied 2. the iphone was perfect, the mega ended up with 1 tiny speck of dust on the top- off the screen, in the black perimeter. It only bothers me cause I know it's there. lol. If you use the hinged method, with that extra piece on the free end, and use a tape roll on the screen (tape rolled around your finger with the sticky side out) after you clean it, and right before you peel stage 1 on the protector do it again, you should be good. There are some pretty inexpensive glass ones now available. No way would I try it with a $30 one. I paid $12 for the mega one and that was big $$ for me!! lol
I also hear if you put your screen saver on after someone showers in the steamy bathroom it cuts down on all the dust! (tip from G) I never resorted to this, wanting to be comfortable at a table that has been cleaned well.
you need to use the hinge method, with some tape on the side of the sceen protector/phone before you peel of the bottom part, but theres another trick i learned which i practice and lets me put a screen protector 100% perfect...
you do all this in the bathroom, before you do tho, you turn on the shower with hot water, and let the room get steamy.. picks up all the flying arrownd dust, and your screen protector will be 100% perfect.
try it on, thank me later.
I have one of the screen protectors, i can say they are awesome, they make your screen feel so buttery smooth, I bought the Glass.m one and i havent got any finger print mark or oil, or even dust applying it.

Absolutely!!! If you mess up the application, you chalk it up to experience. Although if you are careful, check out videos on youtube, and follow the tips here, you should be good for a terrific application! Just be mindful of dust. That's your worst enemy and will create bubbles. So dust proof all you can. I work on my kitchen table that has been dusted and windexed. dust off all my tools and use tape rolls. roll the tape around your finger and pretend you are removing dog hair. But it is invisible dust. Then go for it! I never tried the shower trick. I hear it really helps. but again, make sure the surface you are working on is really clean. Good luck!
I found mine on ebay. Amazon has them, but charges shipping.

Tepshine / PThink Glass Protector - Good!
Got this one for my i527 a few days ago:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ICZ4GE6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Went on very easily once I removed the hard shell case I had on the phone. Comes with moistened cleaning cloth and microfiber cleaning cloth and I didn't need to mess with hinging or scotch tape or anything else. Used both cloths to clean the screen and quickly applied the screen protector and NO TRAPPED DUST.
It's only been a few days, but no bubbles, no slipping, and everything seems to work with no lag. Even hovering still works.
-Z
just got mine from overseas for a whooping penny. Only problem is the button is sunk down a little bit. guess ill get use to it. putting it on is easy. you can lay it on and slip it around before you push on the middle to get it to set. mine came out perfect
Just be careful on where you get it, I got my first one and the glass got messed up from the cleaning I did and when I tried to get the lint hair out of the adhesive part of the screen it broke. Now on to my second glass (privacy shade) and the only defect is that it is a little too thick for touch response but it serves it's purpose (touch still responsive at times)

i have it on my Mega ( i9205 ) and i must say it saves the life of the screen. dropped it several times and only thing that breaks is the temperred glas so i ordered several times on ebay and apply goes easy, just clean the screen and see if the bottom and the top fits then drop it on the screen
it will apply by it self in a minute
then just gently push it till all ends are applied.
and to be sure use a hair dryer over it.

i have it on my Mega ( i9205 ) and i must say it saves the life of the screen. dropped it several times and only thing that breaks is the temperred glas so i ordered several times on ebay and apply goes easy, just clean the screen and see if the bottom and the top fits then drop it on the screen
it will apply by it self in a minute
then just gently push it till all ends are applied.
and to be sure use a hair dryer over it.

Film protector from Ultimate Shield (review/opinion) with pics

Hi all, been using OP phones for a while now, and since the 3, it has been really impossible to find a good glass screen protector worth the money, as we all well know.
I have then gave up on them and have decided to try a film type, since I take good care of my phones and really never drop them.
So I usually don't take the time to write about that, but really I feel like I should say good things about this one brand (first time using those "wet application" protectors, so the same may apply to other brands, I'm just happy with this one on first try).
First, they do free shipping anywhere in the world. The protector and small accessories come in a simple hard back enveloppe. I think that's good for us, as well as smart.
Second, and linked to the first point, they have a good customer support. My problem was that when entering my shipping address, I could not select Hong Kong as a "country". So I emailed them asking about this, and within a few hours, I had a nice reply and the customer rep had activated HK in the drop down.
Then the product itself.
It is not too hard to apply, really. Follow the steps and you'll be good. They recommand to wait 8-12 hours to turn on the phone again, but I need my phone as an alarm clock, so I waited like 2 hours and all is well. All in all, doing it in the evening, it took maybe 30 mins to install (with waiting to dry up a bit).
The film sticks well, even on the edges of the screen, and it is hard to tell it is there (well, under low angle light, you can notice a very slight "orange peel" effect). On the other hand, touch feeling is really as if there was nothing there.
I tested with the slim official OnePlus cases, as well as the official carbon bumper case, and no problem to notice at all. I also have a Spigen case, but I don't dare trying it, it looks like it "crawls" up a bit much on the edges of the screen. I expect that any slim cases, or those that are not too tight on the edges won't be a problem.
I also ordered one for my wife's S8+, and have installed it as well. Will post pictures this evening when she gets home and I can use her phone for pictures, so you can see how it looks. (for her, I took a full body coverage, and I'll post some pictures of that, so you can see how it goes, and how it looks on different phones).
So all in all, I liked the company attitude, the price (8 GBP for my screen only coverage for OP5, and 12 GBP for S8+), free delivery and of course the product itself.
Let me know if you have questions, I know I personnaly am always looking for info before trying those protectors. God knows I've wasted enough money on many useless ones :crying:
Edit :
have added pics so you can see how it looks (the slight orange peel effect), and also how it goes really fully to the edges
Woow it looks really good!

It does, yes.
I've been using that for a few days now and it's really hard to tell it's there.
Also something I noticed with usage is that it's very fingerprint resistant. Maybe better than the naked screen in that respect.
Can't really comment on long term durability but at least it's very good at the moment.
Having a discount of 25% today i took the risk and ordered it
Oh cool, hope it'll work for you as well as it does for me
I have a spigen case too, you sure you don't want to try it ahah?
is it like rhinoshield or is it like screen protector for scratching?
I say about this: https://www.ultimateshield.co.uk/co...cts/oneplus-5-invisible-film-screen-protector

Nice! Thank you I'll see to buy this screen protector, nillkin's one is really too small, cutting the screen is annoying :crying:

It's very exact fit lol, so the protector must be very well aligned. But the protector is so thin that it just stays under the lips of the case.

Yep
I personnaly have the rugged armor
Can't say about that one!
I ordered it long time ago. Haven't tried it yet. I have nilkin glass now. Since I want to protect whole screen and I have a otterbox case... I will apply film soon. Fingers crossed
Ordered one today, got tired of every single tempered glass protector that has adhesive only on the sides and lets the dust go under the screen.. Let's hope this is as good as advertised!
Yeah, let us know if it works well for you guys too
Ordered! Waiting on shipment
Mine arrived, pretty simple package but it made its way to Hamburg Germany without problems
Will apply it when in clean surrounding ;p
