[Q] SetCpu on Mediapad - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Has anyone tried this app?
if so, or if it's possible, how far can we overclock the cpu frequancy?

I believe it would need a custom kernel. Official kernel usually (or all) don't support tweaking the cpu clock. Right now there isn't any custom kernel (at least not for ICS), but some people are working on it in the dev section.

didn't Huawei relase the opensourse kernel on their website? i thought that's all the devs needed
but there are other talks about porting it from anothe device.
let's hope it works somehow at the end.

[Q] How good can the atrix become?

Lets say we get an unlocked bootloader . . . What can we do to the phone? What kind of updates in the future will our phone beable to get? Will we get better drivers for the things our phone has?
See I posted something similar but while 200 people looked at it nobody had a reply.
The new moto phones all have locked bootloaders, now while this sucks it doesn't hinder the device too much.
On the motorola defy they have deblurred roms as well as a fully working htc sense port.
They use nandroid restores as a way of flashing roms.
I don't see a valid reason something similar can't be done here.

Obviously you'd probably get the basic benefits of most phones, but I don't think you'll really get much of an answer until it actually happens.
i think the benefit would be to be install customs kernel, and roms like cyanogen with most recent andoird updates...
Custom kernals allow for overclocking and undervolting, as well as performance and battery saving cpu governers.
A full recovery flash means if you f***ed up, you can do a nand restore without having to sbf restore.
Also it allows for a complete ripout of the phones system and files and replacing them with another, usually a port of another rom or Cm7.
I would love sense or cm7.

A custom Kernel is Not necessary for overclocking, you can also overclock and undervolt without it. And we also have CM7 Sitz 2nd init like on The milestone.

We can't use milestone overclock because we don't have the msm processor, we have to have a custom kernal that allows for greater frequencies

[Q] Overclocking the EVO

Hi,
I am using the SenseLess 3.1 rom, and just love it.
I would like, however, for the sake of beeing a geek, overclock it past its 1.2GHz mark.
I know the device is capable of it, I just don't know which kernel to use, and since I don't have enough posts yet, I can't ask this question in the rom's thread.
Can anybody help?
I am not gsm, but is that ROM a gingerbread or ics ROM? I ask because as far as I know, the ics ROMs use the stock kernel which is not overclockable.

Hi.
Maybe u can try RCMix Kernel or Silverneedle Kernel.....
I think u can overclock past 1.5ghz with other one kernel but depends on your phone too...

will it be possible in the near future to overclock evo 3d on any ics rom?

hello there
my qustion is, if it will be an option to overclock our phones on any ics rom ?
because on gingerbread, with the right kernel, it was possible, so I thought and asked myself why it is not possible to overclock it now on new ics roms....
I dont know much about what you must do and mod to enable overclocking in kernels...so dont be afraid or angry when seeing this..
is this because htc is not offering the source code of the new kernel? (btw is this legal? thought that the linux kernel is on gnu licence...)
anyway, was there ever a source code of the gingerbread kernels ? is this the main problem when devs trying to mod something advanced like overclocking possibility?
I've liked my phone on gingerbread overclocked, it was really fast (not the launcher, now it's rendered on gpu as everybody knows..)
and battery also was no problem.......
it would be nice if someone could write a good statement and a good info of what must be done to enable it, because I want to learn also something new..

It probably will be able to be over clocked. Im not an evo user myself but the same thing almost apllies for all phones. I cant give you a big explanation because im noob still but i can tell you something. Overclocking is going to be different in ics because ics has more features meaning more speed. So kernal makers will have to try to make it more ram efficent. Or stop un needed things when ever your not using them. Then it will stay fast without ics kicking in with its slowness at times. Right now thats all i can say. Its 01:00 here and i cant think so i might edit this some other time.
Sent from the phone of Gamers
Overclocking was made possible on gingerbread roms when HTC released kernel sources and thus the developers was able to edit the kernel sources to allow for higher CPU speeds, then build the kernel and release it to us.
The same thing will happen when they release kernel sources for ICS (Or it might even be Jelly Bean by that time, who knows).

there are several kernels for gsm and a few for cdma that allow for this
The kernel source code for the GSM EVO 3D and CDMA i believe was released around a month ago so overclock is there! on the kernel i use not throwing any names i can overclock to 1.8 GHZ !

So it is a ics kernel? I think you're not right, if there showed up a way to overclock on ics, it would stand on the xda homepage and also in some threads but there is not such headline or thread....
Btw, sorry for my english, I'm from germany/poland and have not good grades in english at my school (btw I must do something against it, have just one year before going to university... )

Which kernel?

Which of the new kernels is safe to use and doesn't break anything like the camera... right now
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
None of them break the camera.. What rom do you have now? If it's anything besides AOSP, I'd recommend dsb's kernel.
Yes if your on 4.0 don't use seb or DSP they break video

Yo MAMA'S kernel.
:highfive:
i haz contributed
If the kernel has broken the camera then your using the wrong kernel. Sense use sens kernel. AOSP use AOSP kernel

You're not being very helpful.
Sense 3.6 and Sense 4 aren't compatible with each other. (most kernels have 2 versions)
Heck even 3.14 and 4.03 bases aren't always compatible with each other.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW
Rezound Cubed has 3 verisons
1. For Sense 4 ROMS
2. OTA ICS update
3. Global Leak
BAMF Kernel has one which works on Sense 3.6 and Sense 4.0
Overclocked Kernel works with Sense 3.6 and 4.0
Uber Kernel Has two
1. For AOSP
2. Sense; May or Not Work with your Sense 4 ROM
So basically don't assume any kernel works with a ROM. Get comfortable with flashing kernels/modules and if anything goes wrong you'll be prepared to fix the issue.
All the kernels are similar in a lot of ways only differences are wheter their overclocked, unvervolt, or have stuff like perflock etc. For some users some kernels kill battery or make it last longer.
What works for you might not work for another. Even with an identical ROM, Phone, Setup.
There I haz contributed
Who is DSP?
Seriously though dsb has a video fix for Sense 4 roms in his OP.

OK, so I've found out that you can't flash a kernel on a driverless grandma's pc. I'll just flash it when I get home...
Lets do some logcatting her eh?
First i want to congratulate u for succeding in building this awesome rom. I have been experimenting with the rom for the past two days for the use as my regular ROM. Everything i use on regular basis already seems to work quite smooth so i will probably will keep using this from now on. However there is one item that has me a little bit concerned and that is the heat it can produce. this is mostly occuring during heavy activitys as whatching movies or gaming. but it also sometimes seems to happen during light activitys as browsing or teksting (maybe the fast switching between several apps). It is not increasing beyond extreme temperatures (max temp 42 degrees celcius) but i still wonder if this is normal because my stock ROM keeps a lot cooler (max 37 degrees celcius).
my setup:
Desire X with CM9
CPU at 320 -1209 smartassv2

Hi Im new to the HTC desire X but apparently jellybean is meant to be coming out for this phone although htc wont confirm it themselves I was curious if 1 there was a working mod running Jellybean or later and 2 do you intend to make a jellybean rom at some stage, ps I used to have a VF845 running cynagen mod 7 and liked the improvements that had to that ancient phone, currently running ELEGANCIA by V6-maniac which works well but I would prefer cynagen though lol

If you read other topics, you would know that htc released JB update for DX yesterday... and if just "making JB rom out of blue" would be as easy as you think, you think noone would do it? Be glad there are devs for this phone who are trying hard and doing really good job
@atis112, dont you think we can use wp_mod.ko module posted by flar2 which helped disable write protection in previous kernel to do the same for the new kernel. Unpack the JB boot.img, use the zImage as prebuilt and modify ramdisk as required(which i know nothing about).

No. The new kernel need new module. But to build a module, we need the kernel sources.

The modules needs to be built with the same kernel as the zImage. And the modules will be built from kernel source so ramdisk can do nothing in it.

What's the status of the development of this ROM?
Is atis112 continuing the development of CM9 or is he going straight onto CM10?

ohok didnt know it had been released, wonder when itll get to my little corner of the world, and yes I know it would take awhile I was asking more to see if anyone had any plans to start developing one or whether they were waiting to see if htc had all the bugs out (chances are theres bound the be) of their stock rom, this I was asking not to just find a fully done rom but to follow the dev of one ( or how ever many of them there would be ) and test some on the weekends when I have time and give feedback aswell as learn more about my own phone, sorry if my exact reason for asking was not crystal clear (and perhaps the question wasnt structured properly I dont know) and while I would consider myself a noob to the dev side of making roms kernals etc I do have some understanding of the process and would like to learn and build upon it.
Hey Atis please release a working cm9 instead of working on cm10 because as you have already started working on cm9 we can get it sooner :/

Cm Roms depend on device trees, so what's fixed in cm9 will probably also work in cmx. Don't worry, cm10 is worth it.

Man even the pico guys don't have stable cm10 but they have stable cm9. Cm10 requires extra graphic abilities such as vsync which can only be activated when kernel source is released. So till we wait for kernel, why not finish the cm9?

Personally, ive used cm9 and other ics derivatives on my old phone so much that it would feel boring on this phone too. CM10 however wasnt stable on it so i couldnt use it then hence i want that.
Hello, I tried to falsh your boot.img and when I boot me, it shows the htc logo with the " HTC dev" message and then a black screen. I tried to install other roms, but the same thing. What can I do?
