Unlocked Sprint S8+ No MMS, VM, and WiFi Calling? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

So I have a unlocked Sprint S8+ (SM-G955U) that I am using on AT&T, Everything works fine except for the following: MMS on the Samsung Messaging app only works with Wifi off( I found a work around by using android messenger), I cant seem to get the voicemail to work at all even when I call my number and put in my PIN, not on sprint visual vm or at&t visual VM. And last I dont have WiFi calling which is a awesome feature I use a lot bc of dead spots around. So from what I hear these (SM-G955U) are pretty much the same all the way around except different firmware. So I was wondering if I could just use Odin to put a at&t firmware on the sprint phone to get these features working? Or what can be some options to get these features to work? Or am I just outta luck?

Hey there. What you need to do is, flash the G955U1 firmware on the UNLOCK Sprint S8+. Used the modified Odin prince Comeys. Ill put a link for you also there's a link the Verizon S8+ XDA site too under G955U1 XAA

I have 3 S8+ Sprint and t-mobile and S8 from Sprint, all running the G950U1 and G955U1 firmware, all running on T-Mobile network flawlessly.

This is a link for the unlock firmware G955U1.
Don't forget, modified Odin unlock firmware.
Stock carrier firmware, stock Odin or it wouldn't work. Tmo_S8+

I ran into this exact same issue. First, Make sure you have the correct drivers for Samsung S8+. (You probably I know). Second, reboot your computer. I have the Sprint S8+ unlocked too. I always got stuck at the same place in Odin that you did. BUT.....After a computer reboot, Odin works. That's all it took for me anyway. I then flashed the G955U1 firmware and all is running smoothly. ...

OK.... So it did finally work, and I'm not sure if it makes a difference for someone else but I also had to use a USB 2.0 port not 3.0 or 3.1. Weird how worked after the restart. Also everything is now working with the exception of the WiFi Calling still not working. Is there any idea on how to get that working?
A big thank you for getting the regular MMS and VM working its big big help!

Hey all. I have working SIM card and services from T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon. The G955U1 firmware works best with T-Mobile, full VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling no video calls unless you flash T-Mobile USERDATA. Sprint works good too, Wi-Fi calling orks but no VoLTE which Sprint don't have anyway. Verizon VoLTE works, no WiFi calling, plus you get LTE plus which I get over 110 mbps download speeds.
---------- Post added at 06:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:49 PM ----------
Also there's a new G955U1 update, build # AQG2 with some new features.
This is the New G955U1 AQG2 link https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B71VA01vEZAjb3hXdEx3Yi0xbWM/view?usp=drivesdk

Does doing this trip Knox? Is G955U1 international firmware without any carrier bloatware? Thanks!

So I am clear... I have a Sprint S8+ and im tryigt to unlock it to use it with Metro PCS. So I download and flash (with modded Odin) the AQG2 firmware and flash the AP, BL, CP and CSC?? OR... Do i need to download Sprint stock firmware and use that AP and CP like in the video?

What did you do exactly? I flashed the new AQG2 firmware with the modded Odin and it completed but when I put in my Metro PCS SIM it still says invalid. I flashed the AP, CO, BL and CSC.

I used the g955u1 firmware, but I'm on at&t so idk if it will work with yours (metro). Everything except wifi calling works.

Sprint don't honor MMS on Unlocked S8's. :- /

Uh did you read the part afterwards where everything but WiFi Calling is now working?

I have Wi-Fi calling unlocked version on Sprint , but don’t have there new feature Calling Plus which is VOLTE, they finally got it but it’s on the carrier version. So if I use this modified Odin and stock firmware from sprint ? Not sure we’re to get these

[Q] My new S2. Root attempt gone wrong. (Slight panic :P) SOLVED. TY.

I did the mistake of attempting to install this pre rooted kernel: STOCKPLUS-GT-I9100-XXLPB-KERNEL-ROOTED through Odin.¨
I couldn't find a version that matched my kernel gingerbread.XXKL5 so I thought it would be okay to just install any kernel with the same android 2.3.6 version.
All I wanted was to root my phone, now my phone won't even boot. I think it's stuck on a bootloop ? It goes to the samsung warning triangle screen and stays there.
My phone doesn't seem to be able to enter recovery mode. However, it can enter download mode ..
I'm finding this whole rooting business slightly difficult. I'm in over my head. Please, assist me.
Kind regards,
Nate.
* UPDATE: Managed to reset my phone using the steps detailed by Ctomgee (my hero) I thought my phone was done for. Again, thanks everyone for the invaluable assistance you guys have provided! I even got back all my apps and data

Surely STOCKPLUS-GT-I9100-XXLPB-KERNEL would be 4.0.3. rather than 2.3.6?
If you're a noob, why ignore all the stickies and FAQ and jump straight for some random kernel?
I was reading a lot of posts via xda dev forum and someone linked to that kernel and I dunno what I was thinking. Apparently I wasn't thinking at all. SORRY. Now how do I fix this? =(

Before you make things worse, are you even sure you have an I9100? A quick search for XXKL5 revealed I9100G as more likely.
Stop waiting to be spoon fed and do some searching and reading.

You can try KL3 from Chainfire's CF-Root thread. Should work. Or just use Siyah or Speedmod, and be done with it.

Yup. There are MANY different SII's... Most have completely different model numbers. GT-I9100 and GT-I9100G are similar, but have different chipsets, so are not compatible for firmwares. Take very good care you only flash things meant for the I9100G.

That is forced download mode. Means you have to flash something to get it working again.
As long as you can get to download mode, it's not hopeless.
Try this.
Thanks! Just completet step 2. Repartition with Odin successfully!
Waiting 30 mins due to d/l limit on mirror site but then I will download firmware from http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ and proceed with step 3. Should I just get the European one?

I experienced it last weekend. Bricked!
Having the same issue mistaken I9100G for I9100 and flashed Kernel based on I9100. Initially hanged at the Samsung logo with Yellow Triangle when reboot the phone it shows Phone---Exclamation----PC.
Searched and tried almost everything except sending to MobileTech.
After days of trying I resend it back to Samsung Service Centre claiming got the Logo after updating new FW from Kies.
With no questions asked from Service Centre, they restored my phone the next day.
I would advice you to send it back to service centre if you run outta options.

I actually feel slightly cheated since the product advertised is clearly the S2 with dual core see
http://www.bazula.se/Samsung-Galaxy/Samsung-Galaxy---mobiler/Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-i9100.htm
Read " Dual Core Processor på 1,2 Ghz "
According to my knowledge, the i9100G is actually limited to single core and is clocked at 1Ghz ?

So given this, you DO realize that if you did actually get the I9100, and you are on T-mobile USA, you will never get faster than Edge mobile data speeds... Right?
EDIT to add: before you ask (and I'm sure you would have), no, there is nothing you can do to fix this. The phone lacks the necessary antenna hardware to receive one of the frequencies T-mobile USA requires for high speed mobile data.
Also, I live in the US, and I'm on ATT, and I've NEVER been able to get Kies to update my phone. I've just used Odin to flash firmwares myself.

GT-I9100s do not receive updates from Samsung for the US market as there are no US carriers that sell this model. AT&T sells the SGH-I777, TMobile USA sells the SGH-T989, Sprint sells the SPH-D710.
You can use odin to update official firmwares without root.

Yes, you need drivers. But a question. In Odin, when you plug the phone in while on download mode, does the COM box light up yellow? If so, then you already had drivers. If not, then yes, install Kies for the drivers. But make sure Kies is not running at the same time Odin is. They don't play well together.
Also, make sure the usb cable is plugged into a main board port, and not a hub or keyboard pass through.
And maybe you don't care, but did you see what I said about getting slow mobile data speeds on T-mobile USA's network with this phone?
Yup installed kies and it worked

Glad you got it sorted out. But you never acknowledged the data speed on T-mobile USA issue and I've now told you about it 3 times... please don't post back here asking why your data speeds are really slow.
Just for reference. On T-Mobile, I had around 0.01-0.04 Mbps download and 0.01-0.03 Mbps upload compared to 4-6 Mbps download and 0.7-1.2 Mbps upload on AT&T. (Obviously edge speed vs hspa+)
I hope someone can give me advise if I can use ICS ROM that is currently available from other countries. My S2 phone is from middle east.

Yes
But you may need to change modem if connection problems and you either need a local CSC or enter network settings manually .

[Q] Stock Samsung SGH-i857 (Double Time)

Hello, I hope someone can help me out here, Samsung's online help sure wasn't a big help. Trying to get my hands on the stock image for the SGH-i857 a got a little over zealous trying to clear out some of the stock APKs and was hoping to roll it back to stock.
If you have a windows machine try downloading Samsung Kies with your DoubleTime connected. Try to update the firmware/software and it should revert it back to stock.
I do have an Odin flashable I can give you if that doesn't work, but I would compress it with 7zip in order to put it on the Forum.

I did try the kids method with no luck, I would love to try the Odin flash for the phone. If you don't feel like uploading it to the forums I'd be happpy to PM you my gmail.
Here is the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/p3dj426vdav4nsp/I857UCKI1-I857UCKI1-I857UCKI1-HOME.tar.md5
I had to put it on Dropbox because it was so big.
It is recommend that you use Odin v1.85, this however is not tested. I might be testing it soon though.
To put a DoubleTime into download mode you need to hold the volume up and powerb button at the same time from a completely off state.
I wish you luck.
Has anyone found a way for fully flashing the double time to stock? I accidentally flashed an update.zip file from another phone and now wifi and bluetooth are not working. Hopes fast answers-

Man, i don't if you're up to date, but the double time has a firmware problem which conflicts with download mode and it's almost impossible to flash it. That's why my question, have you been able to flash? Please, i need help.
PD: i have the stock firmware and have used almost all compatible odin versions with this device without success.

They don't sell the Doubletime around here, so wouldn't have a way to be up to date with it. Why don't you describe what's happening via Odin when trying to flash instead of just saying it didn't work, which is not very helpful.

I didn't realize that the Doubletime was an ATT phone. Have never seen one or had one brought by my shop. *shrug* Is yours ATT branded or GoPhone? It's possible the firmwares aren't compatible between the different versions... Or that being of that vintage Samsung, maybe the program Heimdall might have more luck a la the Samsung Galaxy S 4g from T-Mobile.
Is the version you are trying to install as newer or newer than the current firmware found on the phone?
Tried different cords?
Different ports on the PC?
Does it show up once or twice in the COM boxes of Odin?
Are you running Odin as admin?
Edit: Found other posts on other forums where it gets stuck at the same step, so guess it's a thing. Found in both Chinese and Spanish phone forums.

-Odin always opens with admi rights.
-Yes, i've tried all ports on my pc.
-It's the same firmware.
-It shows just once in COM BOX.
Can you help?
Doesn't seem like there is a readily available solution, as your issue seems to be shared by others without any posted fix I could find here, or in the other phone forums. Sorry. Like I said earlier, you could try the Heimdall tool, but other than that, haven't the slightest. Older Samsungs suck because of issues like this - limited Odin support. Have you tried Kies too?

Odin fail custom at boot

I really need some assistance. My galaxy s4 sch-i545 starts with a Samsung logo and a unlocked padlock that says custom. I read I need to flash it to stock so I downloaded pit and stock firmware. I tried checking repartion, not checking it, different USB ports and it always says fail. I cannot return my phone to Samsung like this all help is greatly appreciated. I have USB debugging enabled and I think I saw fuses 5 binary 3 in download mode on top if that is important. I have lost hope in getting rid of that screen my phone turns on normally and everything.

Yeah, that "Fused 5 binary 3" is kind of important.
You have a MJ7 or MK2 bootloader (Fused 5) and are trying to flash something older.
You've probably permanently set the warranty void flag because you flashed an incompatible image.
Flash a MJ7 or MK2 full-wipe ROM That'll unroot you and restore to stock.
Thank you

No these won't touch your Knox flag since they are official Samsung fw.
Make sure ONLY Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time are ticked off. Very important.
Throw the tar file in the PDA slot and you're good to go. There are instructions on here somewhere if you need them. Fairly easy.

I'm not certain on why that's giving you that error. Also I didn't see earlier that k1mu stated you may have flagged Knox doing what you did to get you to this point. I just know that if u Odin back to stock prior to trying to flash the wrong firmware.... You'd be good and not flag Knox.
Anyways..... Someone smarter than me can probably help you here. I'd try either the mj7 one... Or another mk2.
And make sure they are the full wipe files. Your including the pit file???

After reading many feedbacks from others on my past ROMs that it won't boot on SM-T230. So, it won't work. Sorry, tho.
It's not going past the boot animation screen on my Samsung T-231.

i think when i was trying to flash your non working android p lite and fastest rom and they didnt boot i tried formatting all partition etc and starting over and something broke. i had cm11 on it at one point and it worked but whatever happened when i tried to get your other roms working broke something
i get unable to mount /data etc in twrp ill edit my post with a screenshot or pic later as mtp isnt working and adb doesnt detect it anymore.
