Has anybody tried android auto? - Motorola One Questions & Answers

Hi,
Has anybody tried using Motorola one with a car and/or android Auto?
My phone does not even charge when I connect it to the car. I have tried it with two other phones, both functioned properly.

[Q] Headphone Adapter

has anyone purchased this headphone adapter:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.35001
I just got it and I can't seem to get my phone to recognize that it's plugged in and I"m wondering if it's the adapter, phone or maybe the rom
I'm running CM 6 on a rogers dream.
Won't Work
Sorry to tell you. So far as I can tell it doesn't work on the dream. I did the same thing. Same site. One hit I had off a www google search said it worked on 1.5, but after 1.6, it no longer worked. I ended up using this. Jabra BT3030 It works great. With a little bit of hacking you can get this BT Necklace
When I had my G1, I had one of these badboys and it worked like a charm: http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-HTC-TMobile...096028?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4cf2078e9c
Got the same one for my Tattoo (click) and it's not recognized, is there no way to make it work, like some driver or anything?
I can confirm that the splitter which can teh man linked, the YC A300, does work on my G1 running BiffMod 2.0
This makes me suspect that the relevant driver is either in Cyanogen Mod 6, or the Pershoot kernel which BiffMod uses. I haven't tried to break it by flashing another kernel. I do hope this at least gives you a starting point.

i have an adapter but not exaclty this one..
if its not working you can try an app called "sound route switcher" or sth similiar.
it forces your phone audio output through your desired channel. so i got mine to work on donut (before it was patched on a cm)
but my adapter uses more battery than being connected to my bluetooth headphones >.<

Thanks, I found this post useful.
A quick search on eBay revealed many of these for five bucks.
I was looking for an adapter that would let me charge and use the headphone port at the same time.
I don't know why they couldn't just put the d**n headphone port on the phone itself. I guess it would have cost them an additional 35 cents per unit. I hate the "break this port and you're screwed" paradigm.

[Q] slow/distored sound with android car stereo unit

whats up guys, this seemed the best place to post this since it doesnt pertain to any of the devices listed here. i have the Dynavin Android unit (www .dynavin .com / android.php) in my car and im having an issue that so far it seems only 2 other users have had.
with this unit there are 2 "sides", 2 different computers in one is guess you can say. the am/fm radio, CD/DVD, bluetooth, etc is all completely separate from the android OS side. whats happening to me is ALL sound played on android gets distorted, slow, and staticy. i have reinstalled the firmware numerous times, used different SD cards, i have tried different apps, it happens with music from the SD card and internet music, it even happens with the sounds when u adjust the volume. nobody on our huge thread at e46fanatics can figure it out and only 1 or 2 other people have had the issue.
the weird part is that many times it will play fine for a few minutes and then start to slow down, and even rebooting doesnt help at that point. im thinking maybe it could be overheating, but even with the a/c blasting in the car it happens. and the radio/cd part is completely unaffected.
thoughts?
nobody has any idea? its android 2.2
geez tough crowd
ANY ideas?
dammit....

Wow, that's a sizeable thread!
Looks an interesting device. What troubles me is that it appears to be an intermittent issue. I'd agree that heat could be a culprit, possibly - I'd be tempted to try running it out of the car for an extended period of time and see if that helps.
You could also try OSMonitor or similar and see if you can monitor internal temperature. If the ROM is rooted, you could even try under or overclocking it and see if that helps.
Car audio I can cope with, but Android debugging not so much - you could try doing a logcat (assuming you can hook up via USB) and see if it gives you useful info when it's freezing up.
I have to say, this is screaming out for you to install Torque on it and a bluetooth ODBII scanner...!

yea its not rooted and the manufacturer doesnt seem to want to help with that, and they cant seem to replicate any of the issues the units are having (including force close loops). as for Torque, problem is that the bluetooth doesnt work with the android part, it only works on the radio part for phone calls or streaming music. its like 2 separate OS's in one unit.

The Android side of the unit has a hardwired OBD connection available, and the latest units have an OBD software module.

The unit also has USB ports on the back, that talk to the Android side. You can attach a powered USB hub to that to gain more ports. This way you can add a WiFi USB dongle, and even a BT dongle via USB.

You need to make sure the USB hub is powered independently.

Usb problem on E10i

I have a non-original USB cable for my x10 mini to charge and connect to the PC but it only charges. When I connect the phone to the PC with the cable, the green LED lights and nothing happens. There is no sign of connection neither on the phone nor on the PC. I have gone through all the USB ports shown in the "Devices Management" and there is nothing there. I have tried every USB port on my PC.
Is there something I can do to correct this problem?
P.S. I don't have the original cable because I broke it accidentally.
A lot of cables don't work for power+data. I also broke my original cable and I now use the one from my Amazon kindle because it works for both. I also know samsung cables work so see if you can get hold of either of them.

Thanks a lot, my friend. I will try a Samsung one if I find. I should have realised that the Samsung ones work because I once transfered some music to a friend of mine who has Samsung, but he doesn't have his cable.

I think most cables it's a case of power or data, not both. I have the kindle cable that I mentioned that works lie stock and a cable I bought to replace the stock that only does power and my dad's ZTE blade cable that only does data. Any cable advertised as power and data should work, if not you should be able to return it as not working as advertised. Well, you can in the UK at least.

Have you tried a different cable? It sounds like something might be shorting in the connector.
These cables are available fairly cheaply on Amazon, among other places.

A lot of people had this problem on Mate 9 as well.
It works fine for me.
Are you using original USB-c cable?
Yes, im using the original USB-c and two alternatives and is the same problem , looks like is not running , may be some task is stopped or killed by the phone.
Did you turned off something on your phone?

Nope, nothing turned off. I do have USB debugging turned on in Developer options.

worked on my Sony without problems. In my new car (Skoda Amundsen System), I get the black screen... No solution yet
I had same problem so I uninstall AA then reinstalled it. Works perfect even with a Brodit iPhone mount with a lightning to USB C adapter. I have the best of both worlds AA or carplay USB debugging on by the way..

Correct. This seems to be an issue with EMUI itself as it's not an issue with vanilla Android 7, 8 or 8.1.
I have no problems using AA with my Seat Leon (MY2015). Before Mate 10 Pro i was using Huawei P9 and P10 also without problems.

No, that's the only issue - on the previous phones (P9/P10) it works. But for me no problem to use phone controls.
I've had mixed problems with my Mate 10 and Android Auto. Most things like Spotify and TuneIn work, but Waze and Google Maps crash it. You need to clear the cache and data from the Android Auto app and any app that doesn't work, that fixed it for me

Extactly, that temporary fixes the problem until you reboot.

Haha. That's so far off being ready that you'll likely have a new phone before it's ready.
