Hi people. I'm trying to use the stock qr reader in stock camera and with the especified app called "Escaner" (in spanish) from MIUI. And any of this two apps can read any type of qr code. I tested in another app from Play Store and it works. My brother, who has Mi8 but not PRO, can read with stock camera and the other app, but I can't with my Mi 8 Pro. Do you test this feature in your Mi8PRO?

i think have no default but you can download some in market. Just search pdf
When I bought the phone I remember I could read pdf files without having to install any app. I'm asking because I've installed void and now can't anymore. I've tried Adobe pdf reader, but I liked the default one more.
ThinkFree Office, which apparently outperforms Adobe Reader on my phone.
Thinkfree lite doesn't seem to have an integrated pdf reader.

It works fine when I was on my stock ROM. What ROM are you using?
Void.delta, and you?
I'm using Light ROM. I reinstalled ThinkFree just to test this out.

This question came up because someone was kind enough to supply a barcode I could use to link to a download. Turns out I can't use that download, which I knew by the description of the target.
Meanwhile, it opened up a new question that I would like to learn about and since I cannot find anything in the Streak section that addresses it and I thought other newbs might like to know, I decided to make it its own thread so maybe we can learn something new.
So without further ado, the question:
How do you use the Streak's camera to scan a barcode, especially to follow a link to a download?
Once you download a barcode scanner from the market (or other download option) you use the app.
The app usually uses the camera to capture the barcode. It's as simple as that. Just point it at a barcode and it recognizes it and translates it into url. Problem is that it usually points you to a market download location so if you don't have market installed I'm not sure what it will do.
Here is some info about using a barcode scanner. The barcode scanner is a nifty tool and can be used on many phones, not just the streak. There are many barcode scanning apps in the market.
I found Google Goggles to work the majority of the time, and it handles barcodes and QRCodes.

normally, download a barcode reader depend on the barcode type, and you can decode the barcodes. if you want add the barcode reader into your apps, a barcode reader component is needed. links are often encoded into a qr code nowadays. i just used a KeepDynamic.BarcodeDecoding.Dll which works great!

I use this too, in fact it can do a whole lot more then barcodes.... translate text, recognize some objects, solve Sudoku puzzles.
I recently switched from a Sprint SGS4 to T-Mobile and an SGS5 and the first thing I noticed missing was the Optical Reader. Is it just me or everyone? What solutions are there? I miss the simplicity of the Optical Reader from the SGS4...

thanks, unfortunately this is the same broken version that's on Galaxy Apps. on my SGS4, that version would automatically pick up QR codes and text depending what was in front of the camera. with this version it only translates text.

as mentioned above, the version on Galaxy Apps is broken... I'll give Barcode Scanner a try though, thanks.
if you're looking for a text reader then try Google Goggles. that picks up text...er sometimes lol.

I have got a problem that I just realized, I have no longer QR code application in the scan / qrcode widget (left panel) and the camera can not activate / download the QR code module.
Any idea ? I'm running a rooted poco on Mi-Globe 10.3.7.
don't you have it under the tools folder in home screen? alongside the compass and radio.

There is a video explaining how I can download start Google applications correctly. You have to connect it to a USB or memory card and put some applications and create a backup, it is not easy but it is very well explained.
