Does Mi A3 support L1 DRM? - Xiaomi Mi A3 Questions & Answers

Does Mi A3 has support for L1 DRM? If yes, can anyone kindly post the screenshot?

yes it has Widevine L1, but as of now in india we are able to stream HD content over netflix only as amazon prime video has not yet white-listed the device, so we are restricted to 540p on prime video.

Yes, many specs sheets confirms that; however you can see for yourself below.

Will it stay L1 after unlocking bootloader and rooting?

Sapper Morton said:
Curiously enough it does, since very few devices behaves this way, however, I could test this only on Stock ROM, I may update later, about custom ROMs; SafetyNet passes, but CTS will be broken, thus, you won't be able to download Netflix from Play Store, the same goes for other CTS dependent apps; if you sideload Netflix as an example, it will work just fine; with other apps, your experience may vary.

Thank you! So it will stay L1 on stock after bootloader unlocking and rooting, right? On custom ROM you could try to use hide props magisk module to change device fingerprint to pixel 2 for example.

Sapper Morton said:
Sure, it will stay as L1; as the Magisk Hide Props, it won't work with DRM, CTS is another story, it could work. Widevine uses integrity state telemetry to set the proper security level, unless you break the SHA-256 key encryption, you can't spoof, or change the Widevine state manually. The way you use it, it's the way it stays; that's why I said it's very rare for a device to stay as L1 with bootloader unlocked and root access.

Widevine L1 certification

I desperately needed L1 support bro stream on Netflix. I was in Ressurection Remix . I flashed MiUI beta ROM successfully and I installed the L1 certificate , now Netflix is incompatible and Hotstar can't stream Premium content . What to do ?
Netflix doesn't stream HD currently and since I see that bootloader is unlocked, neither will amazon prime.
L1 requires a locked bootloader, and yes, even though the certificate is of L1, locked bootloader is needed to read the DRM keys.

Yes it's required on op6/6t and poco AFAIK. I've read people with pixel say that it works with unlocked bootloader for them but that's not the case with our phone.

No, and you're welcome to start developing if you like.
When xperia 1 unlocked, will it lose the Creator mode?
I have unlocked my xperia 1, but magisk is not supported. So i can't root it.
By the way, when the xperia 1 is unlocked, Video Enhancement is lost.

AFAIK video enhancement and Widevine L1 are always lost after unlocking (the latter has not been confirmed on Xperia 1 though). However did you find any other feature lost, say auto HDR and denoise in camera? I'd be happily unlocking it if video enhancement is the only feature missing.

bootloop is because latest magisk is not working on Sony devices.
You need older manager and magisk zip
download manager and magisk from the url in this json https://raw.githubusercontent.com/i...321233f0d227d3c3c3a260b8/updates/ianmacd.json
Use that json as custom magisk repo url in magisk manager.

Apologies. It seems that build has been archived. Will setup dedicated hosting for the older version soon.
Use this url in magisk manager custom repo https://gist.githubusercontent.com/...b3480a221cd64d7c2e5a30e76c7016b5/ianmacd.json
Recommended to uninstall current magisk manager first, then install matching version from url https://github.com/ianmacd/MagiskBu...b/MagiskManager-v7.0.1-2019032801-ianmacd.apk
Do not update the manager. Change the url to custom one that is posted above and then can patch successfully.

Poco is update but always on widevine L3

Hi, I found Netflix not great at least not in full hd
So I checked and I'm still under widevine L3, I still have the latest update miui V11 EU
With the DRM info application and even in Netflix it is well noted L3
I wanted to test this video, but I don't have the fingerprint payment option
https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=5hwY3AA3Z14
Is there a solution?
Thanks

Have you tried the latest Vendor and firmware? Try to flash them!

If drminfo app is showing that then it is a bug! To cross check goto security options from settings and under fingerprint option u will find fingerprint payment and there you will see widevine l1 option! If not open it and tap on the certificate it will update it!

I think you may need to clean flash again.
Such things happened to me earlier, missing options.
Once you update the widevine certificate it should be showing L1 in drm info.
But I guess Netflix still didn't certify the Poco F1 as fhd eligible.

My experience with the Lenovo z5 pro GT

I ordered the Z5 Pro GT from AliExpress. It was really cheap. It took over a month to get here. After saying it was stuck in Heathrow for almost 15 days, it turned up. Oh, it was also apparently £43 ( according to customs note). I bought the 128GB model but was sent the 256 for free.
I turned it on and the first thing it says was the bootloader was unlocked.
So there was no updates and it had a half cooked global rom.
I wanted the updates so I downloaded the CN rom and flashed it appropriately. Locked the bootloader.
I immediately updated it to zui 11... However testing it, it was not a play certified device. Hmmm. Not good., But for what ever reason it now had band 20. !?!?!?!
I wanted to unlock the bootloader but couldn't manage to work out how.
Finally worked out (from a Russian site) leave the Sim in for a few hours then apply from the zui bootloader unlock site.
Unlocked it used twrp and magisk. But no updates.
(I have heard if you load 10.5 and don't search for updates it will prompt you and you can do it even if unlocked)
I relocked the bootloader
I flashed 10.5 CN zui back on and it was play certified. Works a treat. Don't really want to update unless I know it is certified. It's only a fairly new update. So hopefully Google will certify it soon.
Let me know if you have one or would like to know how to do something.
Great phone. Fast - decent pics from the camera and does most of what I need.
It has nfc and works with google pay, but needs zui 11 to have band 20... Still don't understand that.
Bluetooth works well and no dropouts. I don't play games on it but it's quick.
Screen fingerprint reader works well... Except if you have a standard glass screen protector.
Worth the price ... Very much so.

Hey! Same here, was sent an upgraded version of what I paid for and was lucky enough to dodge customs.
Same crap global rom that scored under 300k on Antutu. Flashed the official straight away and updated to which ZUI 11 scores an amazing 430k !
Couldn't be happier but you got me wondering.. To what extent should we be worried about not being Play certified on ZUI11 ? Google Play is working as it should so far, it even auto updates the apps.
Did Google Pay work for you on ZUI11 ?
I intend to make it my main phone soon but would need google pay to work.

I have got Google pay working on zui 11.
I spent a few hours unlocking the boot loader, loading magisk, rooting and spoofing the play certification through. It's a bit of a faff but you can get it to work. Google play certification now thinks I have a mi mix3. LOADING ALLLLLLL MY APPS again was annoying but you have to do what you have to do. If it is your daily and you don't mind messing with build info magisk etc, you can get it up and running.

Try that. It is fairly easy if you have magisk installed. Not SU. After I followed that (Google translated from Russian ) Google pay, Netflix and everything else worked fine.
You might have to Google a couple of the files in the post but if you type the name exactly as it is then you will find them quickly.
Hope that helps.

Right now I'm on ZUI 11, unlocked bootloader, magisk root and certified.
Order in which I've done it
1- clean stock install of zui 10
2- locked bootloader
3- update to zui11
4- unlocked bootloader
5- twrp and magisk
6- certification
7- google play
now for some reason I can't install Netflix from the google play store, it says my device is not compatible. Did you install netflix before updating to zui11 ?
Play store just closes by itself when it feels like, does the same happen to you?
It sounds like it hasn't certified the device.
Have you followed the steps for spoofing the ID?
Once you update to 11 it's no longer certified
Go to magisk
Safetynet check
Cts profile true
Basicintegrity true
If it says that, clear cache and data from the play store, and make sure that it's hidden under magisk hide... Also hide Google play services.
You should see Netflix when look for it now.

So, I tried without root but it's over, only root or different ROM?

So, I got this wonderfull piece of hardware, and tried to use it "as is" - don't use any google service, block IPs on firewall behind router to e.g. facebook, etc pp to keep things private. But this is more and more a choire, and with my previous phone it was far more easy thanks to the combination of LOS+magisk+afwall+. I want to use afwall again, hence magisk is a must. I would also go again with lineageOS, but it is not officially supported, so I have to go "unofficial" - which give me some concerns regarding no OTA and no security pachtes - or do I miss something? I would also lose the oxygenOS screenoff gestures - or are they supported by an app? Or another ROM? And what about havoc - it seems to be officially supported?
TLDR: Need root and the screen off gestures of oygenOS on oneplus 7t pro - how?

Normally, ROMs are official if they support every feature. If they lack something or use proprietary code/drivers etc. it is more difficult to obtain that status though unofficial doesn't necessarily mean it is less secure. Just like with any other build you rely on the maintainer for updates so as long as the maintainer/dev chooses to update the ROM, your security patches will be up to date.
I'm not sure about screen off gestures though. Havoc tends to implement everything that is possible while LineageOS stays clean and barebones. The choice comes down to preference. Though, maybe there is something about screen off gestures in the appropriate threads

It seems it does not support the gestures, my bad.

Why don't you just install Magisk onto stock OOS?

Don't I lose OTA? And if I do so, will I lose all my current setup&data?

Guys, first of all thank you - I guess the good old flashing game will start very soon again. Basically flashing a stock ROM with MAGISK, and after that I pimp with some Modules, right?
Open questions: Do I lose my data and settings? Do I lose future OTAs?

If you haven't unlocked your bootloader yet, yes you will lose data and settings.
