Anyone recommend an armband for S20 Ultra? - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Accessories

So as we're in lockdown and allowed 1 daily exercise (in the UK) and I now have this 'massive' phone has anyone purchased an armband for the Ultra? I want to start going out for runs, to keep my fitness up a bit, so I don't turn in to big slob!
The ones I've looked on Amazon atm all seem to have poor reviews, mainly due to being too small for the phone.
Can anyone recommend??

Lol!! Hope not!

I originally purchased this for my S8+, but it does have enough room for my S20 Ultra with a Ringke Fusion case on (although it's a little snug). So depending on your case size, it may vary, but can confirm it works!

Thanks for the share, I'll have a look to see if Amazon UK have it.

Wish I could find one that has a clear window to interact with the phone without taking it out. The one I have that does kind of work like this, you have to hang around your neck - but I mostly used this in the water park or beach. I'm guessing jogging with that jiggling around would drive one crazy.

Hi, I found this one, ordered it, but haven't received it yet. https://www.quadlockcase.com/
It seems like a very good set up.

Came here to ask exactly the same thing
I found this one but I am not entirely convinced, a few reports of the thing falling off the armband, although most are good reviews.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072C3SCW6
I found a waistband thing as well and am wondering if this would just be better all round than trying to hang it on my arm, zero chance of it falling off and its easy to get it in and out of it as well. That waistband might not be the best one so I am checking out others at the moment.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sport2People-Running-Belt-USA-Patented/dp/B07D2LGY6S
Other than that the quad lock 'run kit' looks ok but its so expensive I would be scared to go near it in case I dont like it and am stuck with a useless £45 armband. One of the reviews states "because it hangs away from your arm it tends to dangle when you run". I would probably also find this very annoying.
I am leaning towards a waistband type at the moment, I can't see any downsides to it while there are so many potential downsides to anything that goes on your arm, ESPECIALLY with a phone this big.

Thanks for this info, you really have done a lot of ground work!
I think I'm with you on the waistband, it looks the best value and probably comfiest to carry our big phones! Spending £45 is a lot a money IMO, not taking away the quality of it as my boss swears by Quad Lock and I think if you have the case, the car Dock its probably worth it.
Think I may try the waistband.

Yeah the quad lock thing seems quite good if you want a whole system that can work in car/bike etc as well. I was just picking holes in their 30 day money back guarantee as I was thinking about risking it if it was risk free like they claim.... "If you purchase a Quad Lock® product from us and don't like it, you have 30 days to arrange for a return and refund. No questions asked." Except then you go to "learn more" and you get "To be eligible for a return, your item/s must be unused, in the original packaging". So you can't actually see if "you like it" because it has to be unused and in original packaging still. Seems like false advertising to me, giving the impression its all risk free and no questions asked when it clearly isn't.
The only thing that might be a problem with a waistband is if it jumps up and down when you run so I think it cant be a bumbag type that hangs down, it literally needs to be like a belt and the phone goes in the belt so there is nothing to move around when you run. The one I linked is exactly that type but I am not sure an s20 ultra would fit and some of the reviews point to the quality potentially not being very good so I am searching for others that might be better quality but the same sort of design.
Looked at a few and think I am going to go with this one

Hmm that does seem like false advertising! How on earth can it be a no quibble 30 day replacement?
I've gone and ordered the original one you sent the link for and it arrives Thursday, so I'll let you know how it is, but there's a few others that look very similar and from what I saw most reviews have the odd 1 or 2 that say the same. At least with Amazon they are pretty good with refunds, I've never had an issue with an item that's been faulty 12 months later and got a refund.
Like you say its whether the S20 Ultra fits but I think that'll be the same for most as they all seem to accommodate up to 6.5" phone's.

Running belt has arrived @ewokuk I haven't used it yet but I've tried it on with my phone and it fits with the case (plastic clear one) albeit a little bit fiddly, will do the job tho! Thanks for sharing!!

I got the Gorwrich one and that seems fine. phone fits in it but its quite a snug fit, only just fits and thats with no case (fine by me as i dont use a case). I wouldnt go with the gorwrich one if anyone uses a case as it might not quite fit. The belt seems decent quality and fits quite nicely.

Nice! This is a snug fit tbh with this one and I was worried the zip may scratch the phone as it's pretty snug getting it into that part, so will leave my case on the phone.
At least now I can go for a run without my jacket, which with the weather how it is will be a bit more comfortable! :good:

White Xperia S - Pics and Nimche's view

Design is my point of view and taste and not necessarily everyone's feeling.
There are still lots of folks here that may really want to buy Xperia S and either they can’t make up their minds or there are thing that it’s not solid for them to make the move. I was one of those people couple days ago but I usually do what it should be done so it gets out of my mind.
I have been owning some SE phone but Android wise, I started with X10 like many others here. Later I bought Xperia arc and still have it and now moving to Sony Xperia S.
I am not going to be technical about stuff right now but some design corners which had me wandered for sometimes.
I should say before and after purchasing Xperia S, I watched many videos available online and nothing (none) of them is anywhere close to what you get, so you can expect more
In video, box looks like Pizza box and wired but if you are a Sony’s product user then you are very familiar with quality and inside you won’t see any attractive pieces but simple and functional stuff which is great to see what Sony has done even to boxing as far as size, shape and coloring. Simple!

First when you take the phone out of the box, its bigger that what you imagined but in matter of 2 minutes, you will tell yourself that “this is how big the ideal phone should be” and arc looks like a baby to Xperia S but Xperia S looks and feels so powerful. Screen is gorgeous and big with lots of nice colors; I got the white one so that black screen stands itself out.
Housing is part of nature. If you happen to get the white color then expect some blending with nature and changing color. You put it in in your jean’s back pocket, it could get bluish in some part or I tried to kind of stick it into my arc’s case then all the black stuff rubbed against Xperia S and made it black but you could always wipe it off with no problem. Even if it sounds weird and something you don’t like, I really enjoyed how it could blend with whatever you do as a simple material.
Power button is extremely nice in size and shape with good functionality.
Notification light at left upper corner and it is wonderful to have it back there.
In white color, white tiny band around screen looks very nice.
Of course I am not big of flaps for HDMI and USB but it keeps your phone to look nice and simple and they are not hard to pop and slide right in.
In most of videos that I saw, they nagged about those three touch sensitive button at the bottom (whatever you call them) and that made me so worried if I may not like them. There were saying it’s hard to activate and it doesn’t work all the time but I think it is actually very useful. In Xperia ARC I didn’t like that Home button could take phone out of sleep but in Xperia S there is no such problem since only button to do that is power button on top which is well designed to do its job.
Those touch sensitive buttons are fairly nice, on each of them there is a visible dot (you see them in some angles) and with press of little finger on them you could activate them, nothing to worry about as they function as nice as they should.
And last but not lease, transparent strip at the bottom which is part of iconic looks of Xperia S is a well-designed part of the phone with lots of idea in mind. I could never imagine the day someone could bring some lighting architecture into a gadget. I think the execution is very nice with three lights lidding up the “back” “home” “menu” logos inside the transparent strip. Well-done.
Phone runs at decent speed and UI has improved drastically from what we had seen in arc and it is obvious that Sony is trying its best to gives us the best user experience which we should give them credit for not making us commercial guinea pigs by throwing new stuff without experimenting them first.
I think this phone is recommended for people that really like to have a phone with unique design, maybe its not the best high-end processing phone in the market but it is the best in its own class and functionality.
Comments and photo requests are welcome.

Finally, a decent size comparison with the Arc!
And... that does it for me. I couldn't decide between S and P, but now it's pretty obvious the S is too large. I just hope the P will be available stores soon
Would you mind taking a pic of the phones one on top of the other, screen-on-screen? Kind of like the one you took, but taken at a horizontal level... so we could get a better idea of the difference in thickness. Maybe place them near the edge of a table, so you can lower the camera to their level?
S and P are both 10.5mm thick, so the comparison will be valid for both. Cheers!

Thanks for posting the great pics. Can you clarify what you stated above? It almost sounds like you enjoy to see your phone get dirty. Not in the sense that it will display adult material, but rather in the literal sense, microscopic flecks of lint, dirt, or perhaps mud adhering to the surface of your device, discoloring it. That can't be what you enjoy, can it?
Hell yea it's not the high-end phone out there but the design wise it's the best, to be honest htc one line-up don't look great and too big and look like htc sensation xl.
I think this is the best design for so far. Gotta get this baby in my hand. can you post more pics?

Well, as I said it sounds really weird that I said it but in about 4 hours Xperia S got blue colors from my jean and black strips from a tight case. I have never touched material like it and it is very nice. Its easy to clean and maybe not the best choice for everyone but I really enjoyed how it really reacts against other material.
It also displays adult material in any sense.

took a little bit to get used to, but I love them now.
best part is that it keeps the front part of the phone smooth and flowing since there are no physical buttons, also before with my X10 my phone would wake up from standby mode because the buttons would press in my pocket but now I don't have this problem.

as you said that is the best problem. I had that issue in X10 and then arc and I was always pissed since my case was like slide the phone in. Have you found a case? Does the Negri one from HongKong?(on the box says white/ white in Chinese)? or did it come with smart tags?
Customs?

How tough is the S3?

Hello everybody,
I am considering purchasing an S3 but i have a quite big question for witch i could not find an accurate answer on this forum. Is it true that the display of the I9300 is predisposed to cracks due to it's slightly curved shape? I have a friend that has a GSM service and he told me that most of the S3s that came to him for a repair had that kind of problem and he also said that i shouldn't buy this kind of phone.
Unfortunately I cannot afford the new S4 and the S3 felt pretty good in my hand when I had the chance to test is a bit. In general i take good care of my phones, but I am wondering, are there any chances of breaking the screen alt the slightest shock that the phone would receive?
I dropped mine a fair few times (on concrete) and its never broke, I have a flip front case on it and its still like new (I've had it for about 6 months now)

Thank you for your fast response. So your opinion is that I should buy one, right?
Haha its not up to me mate, I'm just saying the S3 is no more breakable then any other phone... I definitely don't regret buying my S3. But its still up to you.

Another thing I want to ask. How is the GPS on the S3? I travel quite a lot and I use the GPS every time, but mine i9001 is simply rubbish as it takes about 7-8 minutes until it gets a lock, the signal is mostly weak and the error is somewhere between 60 and 100 meters and it gets disconnected from time to time. I tried custom ROMS, different GPS tweaks and apps that were supposed to make the GPS on my phone work properly but it was all in vane.
Did you had the chance to test the GPS on your phone? How does it behave?

If you're worried about it's toughness just get a solid case, plenty to chose from. I got a black UAG and it's an excelent compromise between tough, weight and style. That said, i don't think it was made for being able to stand much. Never dropped mine, even with the case but i don't think it would take the beating well.
About the gps it's realy good. Also had an i9000 and i definitly know where you're coming from but it's quite different with the S3. Locks really fast. As always, the very first time takes a while. From that point on it's golden. Few seconds and it's ready. Even faster than my proper ndrive gps device. Also doesn't break lock which was my real problem with the i9000. With slimrom, at this very moment, from inside a cafe near the window, mesured with GPS Test, i'm picking 9 / 10 sattelites with an accuracy of 10 - 12 meters.

ive got to agree I've dropped my s3 twice without its case on and all I have is a tiny scratch on the plastic back cover.
and i use gps all the time while out bike riding (often in no cell signal areas) and it is really fast at connecting and the only time it's ever disconnected was a trip to a toilet with a roof overhead.

On my i9001 I have a Momax case like this http://forum.softpedia.com/uploads2/1c/anunturi_image_153850.jpg and I am very pleased with it as it protected my phone very well when I dropped it. Maybe I can find one for the S3 too.
Thank you all for your responses and advices. I hope that next week I'll be the owner of a new Samsung Galaxy S3. :fingers-crossed:
Chuck Norris has a S3 Thats how tough it is! - Seriously, i dropped a pint glass on mine! I put it on the worktop, went to get a glass = slipped glass from cupboard on to S3! the glass broke! S3 just laughed it off, not a scratch! ( I realise i was very lucky)

Well, try to get the i9305 (the 4G one). The price difference shouldn't be significant, it's the same as the S3 except with 2Gb of ram (the s3 only has 1Gb). Makes a world of difference, trust me.

It's tough. But then again, if you take good enough care of your device, they're all tough.I'd say give it a try. Most carriers have an option, where you can try a new device for two weeks, and if you don't like it, you can send it back and get a new one. I'd do that. Personally, I've never had any mechanical problems with any of my Samsungs (M7600, Omnia 7, Galaxy S II, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S III) and I'm pretty happy much with them.
Depends on the luck of the bounce here is a two foot drop onto grass

2 feet on to grass? Maybe you launched it from two feet onto grass. I'm gonna call BS. Had to be a stone or something in the grass. I've dropped mine from about 5'8" onto cobble stone like path way and all it got was a couple little spots where the pain chipped and plastic kinda "dented" or chipped. No scratches. Its pretty durable. Dropped mine about 6 times and I've had it since about a week after it came out. Not a screen crack or break. I don't use a case.

You are wright. The i9305 is only 30 euros more expensive than the original i9300. I'll wait a little more and save the extra 30 euros and I'll definitely get the i9305. Thanks for the tip.
I own an gs3 but they say that its not that well made.i mean i ve seen some drop tests and it didnt go very well compared to other phones. However it is the best buy i ve made so far ,so it is up to you.

I work in an environment where I have had the opportunity to talk with a representative from Gorilla Glass. Gorilla Glass is still glass. It is certainly more resistance to breakage and scratches than non GG, but tap it right at the wrong frequency, and it'll crack real well. My wife's phone was dropped by our 7 year old the 2nd day she had it. Hairline crack in two places.
I'm going to go slightly OT, but it's still relevant. IF you break your glass, the part that breaks is a cheap $10 part to replace. Only, replacing ONLY the glass is all but impossible. Don't ask me how I know. You're best off buying the full frame with the LCD, digitizer, and front glass pre installed. Then, just a gentle hand can replace the glass in about 10 minutes. I just bought such an assembly today for about $170 on eBay.
But the general sentiment here still holds true - unless you're buying a Rugby, the general toughness of the S3 is going to be generally the same as any other similar sized device.

Note 3 as action cam

Hi guys,
I am planning to go on a skiing trip this december. I was looking for an action cam, however they were all disappointing in terms of quality.
I just realized, our note 3 shoots amazing video.
Does anybody know whether is a way to use the Note 3 as an action cam, and mount it without looking like a dork? Also would an Otterbox Defender case provide sufficient protection? I will probably crash. Hard.
I honestly think you're better off using a action cam. First off there's no way for you to get a point of view shot without looking like a total dork. And you're going to risk damaging the $700 device. Video you take with the note 3 will most likely be very shaky since it doesn't have optical video stabilization.

Ya theres probably not going to be a very elegant solution. If your determined to use it, probably should throw a heavy duty case on it and slap it in the chest pocket of your jacket if you have one. That or Mcguyver a 45 degree little mirror on it and ducktape that shiz on your head haha.

Changed the lens to a wide angle though. It worked suprisingly well. Video quality was excelent with the optical VR and great sensor and optics. Auto focus wasn't a problem either.
It looked hideous though. And it was heavy. And it was causing lots of drag.

I am already leaving in december though.
Just a shame the GoPro blacks are so expensive.
I race motocross and I have a gopro as well as the newest Contour roam +2.
Hands down the Contour is so much better. Everyone at the track is switching now.
The reason is (and most gopro users will agree) that it's actually hard to control the gopro or turn off and on while it's mounted. It has a small led that in direct sunlight you can't see, and if you hit record you will always be asking the guy beside you if it's running as you staring him in the face lol. Gopro users goto line is "is it on?" haha. It's not uncommon to have a guy at the starting gate tap me on the shoulder to ask if he's recording.
That said, the Contour uses a massive slider and the whole thing vibrates when it starts recording. It's mint to use without looking at it and the laser levelling is cool too with the spinning lens means you can mount it anyway no need to line it up.
My Bluetooth on the gopro tends to lose connectivity sometimes. Not the case with my Contour. Also read up about the gopro and lockups requiring reboots.
Sorry this isn't a direct answer to your note question, but you will not be disappointed getting a real action cam.
Ps the only place the gopro wins is it does 1080p at 60 fps. On the Contour it does 30 fps at 1080p. The Contour does however support 60 fps in 720p which in my opinion is the best for file sharing anyways. 1080p seems overkill for most applications.

I give my gopro a big thumbs down anyways
It's all just marketing with them. Gopro has been around a very long time and I had an SD one years ago before anyone even heard of them. At that time they were the only company that made anything that small and light. Now the competition is growing so large gopro is like Apple and just relying on the name.
That said, the contour one I mentioned above isn't real cheap either, but there are many cheap options available around the 100 dollar mark just review them and look on YouTube. Search for some contour vs whatever and you will find tonns in whatever price range you like.
It's too bad you left it so late! Else you would be able to purchase some online from China
Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk
it depends on the sport and I would be cautious about getting it wet AT ALL but yes I can think of one way to easily use it as an action cam for some 4k loving.
FIRST install the hack that allows you to up the "bit rate" of the video. CAUTION while this hack allows you to remove the 5 minute limit unless you format your card to something like exfat or ntfs or something (people more expert at this will chime in) your going to run into the 4gb limit. at 50MB your probably looking at 4-5 minutes anyway at 100 MB bit rate your at around 2.5 minutes!! so be aware. you will hit the 4gb wall FAST at 4k
at minimum do 50mb and 256kbit audio mod!
now. onwards. BUY a case that includes a holster cover plate.
I would suggest Zero Lemon's Zero Shock case. (yes you can use it without the zero lemon battery its $24) I WOULD suggest buying the zero lemon battery ($60 gets you battery and case) with a 10 AMP battery you could probably go an entire weekend without recharging it no mater how much video you record. (yes its that impressive)
You would use some webbing and build yourself a "chest harness" something with a nice "backing plate" that would press hard against your chest.
Second figure out the appropriate angle. if you put it flat against your chest your probably going to get lots of sky so your probably going to want to angle it down a bit.
remove the "clip" from the holster and secure (screw?) the holster to your custom chest mount.
I would also install a screw top and bottom in the wood so you can stretch a rubber band over the two screws across the phone as a little bit of extra insurance IE install a velcro strap for a more pro and permanent look and function.
at home you would rig and set up your chest strap rig. at the site you would done the chest mount (like a go pro chest mount but more heavy duty since your phone weighs a lot more) keep it all black and you won't look like a "dork" so to speak. and use a black case as well.
at the top of your run you would hit "go" on the video snap it into the chest mount holster case slap your velcro security strap in place and GO.
this is a VERY good idea consider how nice the 4k video is!
Here are some pics and vid describing how I might do it. if I have time I may just build a rig.
Here is the zero lemon case for my note II (similar for the Note III) you can of course get all black I HATE black so I had to get pink purple since that is the only other color they make its not bad. since you want invisible get all black.
Here is the holster it snaps into
Here it is snapped into the holster plate
The other side mounted
I would remove the clip and use a couple washer and a screw to secure it to your chest plate (be sure not to BEND IT as you screw it in use spacers as needed if you distort the holster it might not hold the phone as firmly. also be sure to install a beefy velcro security strap as backup.
Mount it roughly their and your good to go. Be sure to set ANGLE proper or your gonna get a lot of sky shots you want level with horizon or even slightly "down" so when you "lean back" your still getting good footage.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaJ46EFdKo8
If you want a HEAD mounted action cam I would go with the SONY HDR series (the 10 is cheaper but lacks wifi connectivity which is really nice since you can use your phone as a viewfinder for the cam in real time!!)
I stalked ebay and scored mine for $129. there is another vendor who makes a 3D printer "strap mount" for the cam you DEFINITELY want this otherwise you have to stick the cam in its water proof case to "mount" it to anything.
I really like the video and fantastic audio from the sony.
NOW the contour are also VERY nice units and they have the advantage (the newer ones) of being waterproof WITHOUT an additional case.
they are also more compact than a go pro !! the go pro is smaller but its a landscape format camera. while the contour and sony units are "pistol style"
for chest mounting go pro is king since its landscape (like your phone) but for HEAD mounting unless you are mounting on top of your helmet the contour and sony units are much better.
FYI - Contour went out of business in August. There's a potential buyer, but last I saw it was not a done deal.
Damn, that's too bad
Contours are definitely better than GoPro for head mounting.

Thinking of buying this tablet

I currently have an iPad 4 and a Nexus 7. Both of which perform very well and I'm very happy with.
I am looking at this tablet for one reason - Waterproof. I bought a Lifeproof case for my iPad and it turned it into a bulky monster that sucks to use. Mostly because I have a hot tub and like to listen to music and browse the web while in the tub.
I understand that battery life isn't that great, it's not the fastest or best processor, doesn't run the latest Android version and doesn't have the sharpest screen - does this at all become an issue in day to day use?
So, have there been any issues with the waterproofing of this device?
I've done some searching and it's hit and miss on what people think. I find it's a pricey tablet compared to the specs, but like I said, waterproofing is the feature I really life.
Thanks all.

I think you should not buy it, unless you have lots of money for no good use. The Xperia Tablet Z is a great device. The battery is great. It lasts a whole day for me, including heavy WiFi usages and reading many pdfs. The processor indeed isn't the best, but I rarely have any slowdowns.
The latest Android version isn't much needed on it, and it behaves without a single bug whatsoever. It is coming soon, though... The screen doesn't have the biggest resolution and thus the biggest PPI, but it is really sharp and great. I don't have any problems with it, and the viewing angles are great... It is just a bit too reflexive under direct sunlight, but I use it a lot on low brightness, so that's the reason.
The waterproof is a great feature, and works perfectly, but because of the touchscreen technology (capacitative), it goes crazy with water on it. Dropping water on it makes it think you are touching the screen, and submerging it makes it crazy, as pressure is being applied all the screen.
The speakers are muffy when they have water on it, so unless you hold the device the other way around and does not submerge the other half, you're good. If you are going to use headphones, get some waterproof ones and connect them via Bluetooth, because you can risk both the tablet and the headphones by putting the cables underwater as when the covers are opened they aren't waterproof.
Thanks for the info. it wouldn't be submerged for use, just in my hands in the tub (and it's lighter than an iPad, so that's a bonus). I use my iPad with the case and I know what you mean about going crazy when wet. Every now and then, I just dip it to get some of the puddles off it and that seems to help.
I'd also likely sell the iPad to recover some cost (and the lifeproof case was $130 - ouch).
I've read a ton of reviews and they tend to mirror the issues I mentioned. Did the 4.2 update improve things like wifi reception or any other improvements?

I can't say much about 4.1.2 and any of their issues because I bought the device and it shipped with 4.1.2, but I was in NY for a few days and the hotel's WiFi wasn't good, so couldn't test it. First thing I did when I got home was updating it. But i have no signal problems whatsoever. Mine is a SGP311, if that makes any difference...
I'll just chime in here with the same info that's already been provided by others; battery life in use is decent. I use mine only periodically, but when I use it I rarely pay the battery any attention, and never have had any trouble with WiFi reception. I don't have the biggest house, but I have used it all over the house without any problems. I've also used it outside without any trouble where my mobile phone will not pick up any WiFi signal.
My main gripe with the tablet is that it seems to use quite a bit of battery when I'm not using it. But that is probably caused by something I have installed. Haven't really bothered investigating.

I have the same thing on my mind with cwepruk. I'm planning to buy this tab also and have a lot of research with the pros and cons. In fact I have a lot of vids downloaded from youtube about comparisons and reviews. But because of the six months period since its release, I have second thoughts of buying and afraid that maybe in few days/weeks, better tablet is coming. (Sigh) i just don't know....

I purchased the kindle fire hdx a couple days ago. It has great hardware, feels a bit flimsy, but overall a nice build. The blinding problem is the software. I didnt realize how much I missed not having the Google play store. Sideloading apps works, but its a pain considering how much easier the Google play store is.
Even after I rooted the kindle, it still was not a lot of fun to use.
Anyways, I returned the Kindle and got the Sony Z instead. I'm very happy with the choice. The Sony has a nicer feel and build, the screen is comparable, and the software is superb.
The Kindle is grest if you use Amazons services, otherwise I would go with the Sony.

So I went ahead and bought it. Like I said, the main reason was because it's waterproof and I can use it in the hot tub (browsing, music, etc.).
It was on sale, so $400 instead of the usual $500. IMO, it's about a $350 tablet hardware wise, but it's the only one that is waterproof. The new Android tablets do have better screens and faster processors and some of them are running 4.3. I'm not a big gamer, so I don't really get into pushing the limits on graphics.
That said - after one day of use, I'm pretty happy. Initial thoughts:
Pros -
- Even though it's not the best screen, it's quite good and better then I expected after most reviews.
- Light and thin
- While not the most current hardware, it's definitely respectable. It doesn't feel super fast, but it also never felt slow. It's comparable with my iPad 4.
- Decent battery life. Heavy use this weekend yesterday including streaming audio, browsing, setting everything up, it lasted from Sat night until this (Mon) morning with about 7 hours of on screen time.
Cons
- It's flimsy. I took the first one back because it creaked and the screen would distort and have phantom touches. The replacement was a bit better, but will still have phantom touches if you hold it by the corner.
- Too many notifications from the tablet itself. I don't want to use stamina mode, stop reminding me.
- For all the hype about the camera, it's pretty mediocre - not a big deal for a tablet though.
- No Wireless charging. Would be great and eliminate the need to use that flap over the micro-usb
I've tried other Android tablets, the first Galaxy Tab and the Asus Transformer Infinity and I didn't like either and both had some bugs, so far, not the case with the Sony.

G5 quality control issues are real?

Where ever i read three are several people going through all sorts of issues with G5. Iam currently waiting for mine but all these QC issues are really starting to make me worried.
Now i am not sure wether to go ahead or cancel my pre order.
Mine is flawless. Looks perfect, no headphone issues, wifi calling works. I guess I haven't looked at screen bleed but don't really care about that. Haven't noticed any screen bloom.

Thats good to hear.
Anyone else has anything to chip in ?
I'm on the way to pick mine up so I will tell you how my unit looks . I have said that if there is any problem with the look of mine that it's going to go back
No flaws with mine. Haven't look for light bleed though. Don't care about it.

True, I dont see people complaining about iphone quality that much.
But all things aside, I am hoping that UK dont get that many defective units since we have stricter QC measure in place.
Like most things, people dont bother to write unless they have a complaint. So im sure for every complaint you hear there are a hundred happy people. I have had mine since release day and the only thing i am dissapointed in is the volume buttons being on the side(which i all ready knew).

Glad to hear u are happy with your G5.
As for the volume control I am glad that they decided to put it on the side, since its easier for me to skip tracks easily while phone is in my pocket but with my G3 i have to really search for it and most of the times i would just hit the power button or camera lens
Camera lens scratched already.
I've had the phone since April 1st and i've been very happy with, however i just noticed that my Camera's glass cover in the back is already scratched. I have a case on the phone and I've been very careful with the phone. I'm very disappointed and annoyed that this got scratched up so easily! has anyone else noticed this? just seems like a very cheap material in the back. Is there any protector i can buy or will it distort the image?

I feel the same. Although it was kinda fun trying to find the right button before!

That sucks. I'm pretty certain I saw a case on Amazon that covers the camera as well. Yes, it must distort the photo a LITTLE but hopefully not much. Maybe it was the Lifeproof case?

Looks like you dont have a case on your phone, and since G5 has a camera bump it is bound to get scratched when left on a hard surface.

Keep your order. It'll be worth it for you trust me. Got mine from ee today. Absolutely amazing phone and in perfect condition with amazing build quality.
I've been very happy with the build quality of mine (had it since Wednesday), moving from a Nexus 5X the quality is in such a higher league in my opinion. So I am very happy. If build quality is your only concern I wouldn't worry, like others have said for every one complaint there will of been many more who have been fine! The phone (at least in the UK anyway) comes with a 2 year warranty (one year for the battery) so that has to go some way in showing that LG believe tha5 the build quality of the phone will last at least that amount of time. I've only got one problem so far which is that the camera, on both the normal and wide angle (although more noticeable on the wide angle) seems to distort massively, almost as though you are shooting through a plastic protective cover. Although I've picked at the camera it doesn't appear one was on it out of the box and I don't want to try too much harder in case it isn't and it is just a terrible software bug that it causing it! The camera in the 5X has been amazing in low light and this feels a bit of a deal breaker for me personally (the camera is the main feature even above battery). Has anyone else had to remove some a plastic cover from the camera after taking it out the box?

M8 i would just take it back and replace it, no point in taking a chance.
My G5 is flawless and looks amazing.
Got mine 4-1-16 and have had zero issues. No light bleed no calling or headphone jax issues no gaps and some say that the side ring or whatever around the phone is like sharp or something mine is not. Some people are saying the battery life sucks but mine is great i get 5 to 5.5 hours screen on time. Also if the screen is off over 8 hours like if i dont charge at night i get maybe 5 to 8% drop at most.
My suggestion is when you get your phone if you see anything wrong like sharp edges gaps light bleed go and exchange for a new one. I think I heard Lg has multiple plants manufacturing the phone and one of them must be effing up big time. I got mine at best buy so I dunno if that makes a difference
I've heard more complaints with the build quality of this phone than with any other in recent memory.
Yes, some may be nitpicky, but for a damn near $700 device, we're allowed to be picky.
I'm not saying it's a bad device, I'm just going by what I've been researching/seen instore. It sounds like it performs like a Champ but you may have to go through a few to get a solid built one.
