* OMG do I have to go 4 Chan or foxtorrent to find out the biggest differences between the j272p and the j7 prime. So far I like this phone ( besides it's already on binary 3, but what Samsung isnt?) Seriously though LOVED MY J327P emerge, it was in destructible ( finannly introduced it heavy to a door knob ? tried killing it before, but in retrospect was always happy it kept going. Through the 200 + flashes ( that's being conversative) the roms I made and tested on it, and the poor thing ( almost brings me to tears, but she's the one I met, kept in touch, and threw it against at least 20 walls ( 12 to 13 before my glove) and it wouldn't skip a beat. The wifi never broke, Bluetooth , sync, etc.... Even after the newest qj3 update, TWRP still worked, but Samsung or boost is fng with it I swear. Everytime I backed up, my reload was bootlooped and FD.

Is it just me or is the Galaxy S2 a victim of its own popularity in the fact that it has so many moaners? I'm completely satisfied with my White GS2, autobrightness is a bit poor but that's not a big deal to me. I've owned a few Android phones,
HTC Tattoo.
HTC Desire.
ZTE Blade.
Motorola Defy.
HTC HD2 (with Android obviously)
Sony X10i.
This phone has been my best experience with an Android phone so far. I used to be a fan of Sense but i feel Touchwiz is BETTER! I think the main problem is the happy users (The majority!) don't feel the need to speak up about it whereas many unhappy users want to make their voice heard. There are people actually saying they HATE this phone on these forums...if that is the case why are they hanging around? Sell the phone and leave the forums
I guess when a device sells as well as the GS2 you do end up with a lot of users who bought the phone simply because it's the most popular currently and they haven't done their research prior to buying or upgrading.
That, and the age-old problem that people very very rarely make the effort just to say "My [insert item here] is awesome, that is all." They more often use the effort to moan.
I bloody love my SGS2, best phone I've ever had. Makes everything else look like a poor cousin, even to the point that I don't feel the need to root at the moment - I had to root my Desire not long after I had it to love it this much!
I had the (mis?)fortune to get a play around with an IPhone 4S the other day, and the SGS2 feels so far ahead it's not even funny anymore.
I had to root my Desire for one simple reason. More space for apps. A2SD!

agreed with all the above, the phone is by far and away the best I've owned, had a x10i before which was good, arc and arc s didn't inspire me, Galaxy s2 blown me away to the point I don't really want to root/flash unless there is any real advantage to do it.....as asked in another post, looks like it's worth a flash to the latest stock rom which is what I'll do, at least I know I'll get the updates from sammy direct when released without having to wait for 02

The only reason I was starting to hate this phone was because I had to turn it in two times before I got one without a faulty display. It took almost a month.

Agree - I love this phone and the android community, but there are quite a few whining idiots around.
That said, we're still wayyyyyyyyyy better off than the iPhone 4S crowd. Lots of morons complaining there, and worse, they can't even do anything about it. iOS doesn't allow half the tweaks and hacks Android lets us do, especially if not jailbroken
in last 2 years i owned bold 9700, HD2 and now sensation.
unfortunately while trying to clean dust out of the screen i damaged it it was already dropped and leaking on the corner and i separated it even more.

I experienced the "dust under the screen" issue with the MT4G, which I loved, but the dust made me exchange the phone 5 times
I can tell you Samsung phones don't have that problem because they fuse the screen so nothing can get it.. a HUGE plus to me
The T-Mobile Galaxy S2 had been the best phone I have ever owned by far.. and the screen outclasses anything on the market IMO.. I've held my phone next to the iPhone 4S, both playing Cut the Rope, and it almost made my friend throw his phone because he was sure the iPhone had the best screen.. it wasn't even close, the colors, the blacks, everything was so much cleaner on the S2
You will hear complaints about every phone out there, including the S2, but I promise you won't be disappointed, I wouldn't trade this phone for the new Nexus, iPhone, nada

Have you considered the Samsung Galaxy Note? I just got it one month ago - and I just think its a unique device - works really well as a phone and a tablet, which many people doubted, s pen with s memo allows me to scribble when I am feeling creative/have ideas which are not meant just for typing etc. I do hope they bring ICS to it, which is optimized and not slowed down. You could consider this as well. I know people have S2 and are happy with it, but somehow I thought Note would make the owner feel extra special Hope this helps?

i listed the phones i was interested in and thats about how much time i had is to check the specs on the phones available through tmobile. other than that i didnt have time to go around forums and dig through 1000s of BS useless posts to try to locate the defects and shortcomings of every phone...
but unfortunately i ended up not upgrading anyting cuz its not worth it.

the recent tmobile "promotion" was a big fail.
i went to the store and was told that there will be no change in my plan. and i get a the money back once i send the rebate.
to find out that i still have to pay full price for the phone over 20 month period...
that is not a damn promotion its a trick..

Hey guys, I'm sure several of you have noticed some of my amazing smooth running benchmarks from my SGII-i777 just inherited a Galaxy Note, while waiting on the Samsung/apple drama *facepalm* for my SGIII, either way I've been playing around with it and working on my coding for it, It'd be easier to run on an AOKP system, but nah, I want to make it noteworthy. I'm almost positive with my WebOS kernel expertise I can SAFELY being the key thing, get it OC'd to around 1950. Though of course, I'd be aiming for 2.0ghz. Anywho, anyone interested in helping with the project, I'd love any input, and am sorting through the posts now, yeah blah blah blah I know the n00b rule of reading first I'm just super excited to get to work on it.
MY SGII Scores hit 8200 in benchmarks, (pretty much across the board) even running multiple apps and the battery never exceeded 96 degrees Fahrenheit, also, that was at 1500mhz, at 1600, of course, it got hotter, but still ran fine, with no glitches, im beginning my work with the Note now, and research yeah if anyone wants to post the SGIII info below, to the proper site, feel free im too lazy and to unbothered to care lmao

What's this about?
-First off, let me start by saying how great it is to be back on an Evo3D. This community is absolutely brilliant and I know I took it for granted on my old Evo3D. See, my Evo3D's screen broke back in July and i was insured with a Epic4gTouch. After complications and 4 more Epic4gTouchs, i was insured with a Galaxy Nexus. Can you guess what happened next? That's right, some more complications and now I'm back on an Evo3D :good: PS: this thread might be incredibly opinionated and bias (as in all writing), so if i annoy/insult anyone, i apologize in advance.
Ever think about switching over to the E4GT or GNEX?
-Stop. Like seriously... you dont know what you'd be getting yourself into. "Why?" some might ask. The E4GT, has an incredibly annoying process to flash a new rom/anything. You have to make sure you're on a specific radio and kernel and recovery combination, or else you risk messing up your phone. On top of that, i had to go through 5 replacements of that phone, and each one had a problem. When i first got it, i was really excited since it was finally something new after having only an OG Evo and 3D. After several screen problems on over saturated Samoleds, volume buttons not functioning, and more, they offered a GNex for the trouble. Excited once again, i thought all the complications were done and behind me, but that certainly wasnt the case. The GNex must be the easiest phone to overheat in the history of Androidism. I'd pick it up for 2 minutes and it'd be well over 110degrees. I know what your thinking: "Bro, just undervolt and all is swell." But then I'd rant on how the phone can't even hit 2+ hours of screen on time (except for a blessed few) and how it's samoled display also has a thread explaining problems you might have with your device -.- (i might just have the worse luck in the world but w/e haha)
What now?
-So here I am bringing my rant to a close as my QADERSO.zip download is 5minutes away from finishing. And with that I'd like to thank ramjet73 on his great guide to root and s-off that i will shortly proceed to do on my new Evo3d. You can be on any radio for any build of rom. You can be on any safe recovery to flash any roms except a jb rom. Not that complicated. It used to be. Thank you for this thread though. I'm going to clear something up really quick that a lot of people have still for some reason are asking questions about.
THERE IS NEITHER ANY DEVELOPMENT NOR SUPPORT FOR PREVIOUS DEVELOPMENT HAPPENING
I can say this with confidence as I was pretty much the only developer left on the device when it died out. I was there from the beginning and I sure as hell fought until the end, but it was the end. I'm on a Moto X now and haven't even rooted it (short of a bit of initial work with Hashcode and some CM development there). I'm going to clear up a few other things that people have had questions about over the years also.
Q: Are you still supporting the DX2/MX2?
A: Nope. No one is. Look at the big bold letters.
Q: Will you support it again in the future?
A: That doesn't even make sense.
Q: Will there be an update to CM11/KK?
A: No... Hopefully you get the point by now.
Q: What ever happen with KEXEC?
A: That is actually a funny question, and the short answer is... Yes I got it to work.
Q: If you got KEXEC working, why didn't you release it?
A: It was never stable enough. I couldn't guarantee a reboot into a new kernel and sometimes it would just sit at the Motorola logo. One thing I always tried to guarantee out of all my development efforts was consistency and stability (queue CM 9/10 jokes). But seriously. If I wanted you to have the bleeding edge of development EVERY time, I would have, but it would have been too crazy of an effort and too confusing for the community. And I hope you understand that.
Q: Are you going to release your KEXEC code so that others may try?
A: No. It's not that I don't want you guys to try it out yourselves or anything... It's just that I know you won't get it to work. And I mean no offense by that. I was running it through command lines, shells within shells, back and forth between recoveries just to get it to work once. (Again, no offense) most of you can't even build an app, let alone try to fudge around with the kernel, install the modules, modify another bootable kernel, then start the phone again. So no, I will not release it.
Q: How did you manage to even do all of this?
A: I think it should be safe to say now after all these years. I had an unlocked development device. Meaning I could flash whatever I wanted to wherever I wanted. Recoveries, kernels, system images, roots, everything. It was how I was able to confirm that changing the VRAM/RAM ratios wasn't going to help the stability of the ROMs. It was how I was able to develop CM without having to SBF every time and reroot because I had CWMR on the actually recovery partition. It was how I was able to test new kernels and write KEXEC for the phone.
On a smaller note, I also had the source to the nvidia props (all the painful binaries that caused half of our problems with display locking, etc.). Though I never really got into working with them.

A: I had no reason to or I was told not to. Take your pick. If I had no reason to but used all of them anyway, people would get mad because I was some patron saint of the DX2 with magical powers and didn't share with them out of greed (which I got enough of as it was). If I was told not to, then I was doing what I was told so that I could try my hardest to keep this device alive while lying to all of you about why I was able to figure it all out. Either way, I was not getting anywhere and the small faction against me were only going to use it against me even more. Again, I hope you understand.
Q: Soo... what are you doing now?
A: Honestly? School. Some of you may know that I was in college trying to get my degree in Aerospace Engineering. When I left I was in my senior year, working on my senior design project, trying to get a damn plane to fly (pretty difficult I might add). So I had to leave. I earned my degree (YAY!!!) but after that I was so long out of the game, I couldn't just pick it back up. Compile that with a new job of 30-40 hours a week (vs when I had no job) and it just became impossible. I started graduate school to get my Master's in the following fall and it just got worse from there. Anyway, last November I got a Moto X and I haven't looked back.
To all of you who are here still (many of whom I never had the pleasure of knowing) thank you for all of you help and support throughout the years. I hope you understand for a brief moment what I was trying to say. You guys were in many ways like a second family to me and I really appreciated it.
